I've heard this kind of bit many, many times, and it always comes off like both parties are being asshats for all kinds of reasons. These folks went for comedy, and I honestly have no problem with that. I do have serious problems with the followers who engaged in hateful abuse that goes far outside of comedy. Some have threatened violence.
