True, Guyana is not geographically part of the WI, but culturally, politically, and economically it is. And I guess what matters the most is it's spirit. Guyanese people don't identify as South Americans, we are West Indians. But we have the distinction of saying we're both South American and West Indian/Caribbean.

True, Guyana is not geographically part of the WI, but culturally, politically, and economically it is. And I guess what matters the most is it's spirit. Guyanese people don't identify as South Americans, we are West Indians. But we have the distinction of saying we're both South American and West Indian/Caribbean.

FYI Guyana is a "COUNTRY" in South America , the only english speaking country there. It has 83,000 square miles. It is not a West Indian island, although it is close to Trinidad/Tobago which is in the West Indies. The difference is Guayana is a country vs. the West Indian islands which has water all around it. Show me one country in the world where they don't feel a certain way towards another country...? The whole point is the ethnic hatred needs to stop. Every country has its problems, and Guyana has in many ways been given the short end of the stick. Socio-economic problems abound, but you have the trace it back through history - why is it the way it is? Do you think Guyanese that are poor choose to be poor? They want the same opportunities as Americans, etc. but are oppressed in many ways.

Considering there are 30,000+ Guyanese living in Barbados illegally, one can forgive the Bajans for being slightly xenophobic. HOWEVER, it does not take that strong of a mind to figure out that a fraction of a country's population should not represent it as a whole. Where I live is inundated with Jamaicans, and while our crime rate is going up (with 99% of the crimes being committed by Jamaicans), one cannot disrespect all Jamaicans.
