I am Sorani speaking by birth, but have no difficulty what so ever understanding this superb song (sung in south kurdish dialect or laki). As a matter of fact, Laki is almost exactly the same as Sorani dialect. Exception being that the Laki is more delicate (shirintre!) than most of other dialects.

We have to make one thing clear! It might be that Lurs and Kurds have a common history BUT Lurs talk a language very close to persian classified as a southwestern-Iranian language(Like Farsi)!!! This might be very true and the difference between Lur and Lak sometimes is very small, and it is also confusing among Lurs and Laks themselves.However it is more correct to say Laks are Kurds because they say it themselves and Laki is easily closer to ex.Sorani or any Kurdish dialect than Luri! The difference between kurdish and Luri is almost as big as between Kurdish and Farsi. It might be that Lurs have the same history as Kurds, but today is another thing,and today they are different!
