    Весною черною горит.

  • i must thank the lollapalooza videos of regina spektor and the person uploaded them because they changed my insights about regina.. at first i thought regina was something because of being a russian and all that.. but after i saw her lollapalooza videos, it is the other way around ..she's so sweet and humble. and i like her very much because she always smiles. :)

  • Eehh... And what is wrong with Russian? ;-)

  • well, its not about being russian the issue here..i just want to point how great regina is.. forget about the russian thing maybe i used the incorrect term.:c

  • isnt that french though?

  • @laurensusername The verse she sings that isn't in english is Russian :)

  • Russian words from a poem by Boris Pasternak. English translation:

    February. Get ink, shed tears.

Write of it, sob your heart out, sing,

    While torrential slush that roars

Burns in the blackness of the spring

  • я читал что она из Украйна.

  • @rachaeladam она родилась в Москве и там жила 9 лет

  • Thats definitly Russian! Im learning it!!!

  • The Russian part of the song is the beginning of a poem by Boris Pasternak, one of the best poets of the 20th century... And yes, Russian is a magnificent language and definitely worth learning...

    Fevrale dostat chernil i plakat

    Pisat O Fevrale navsnryd

    Poka grohochushaya slyakot

    Vesnoyu charnoyu gorit

I could not find any language that translates it. I tried Russian, it doesn't translate.

  • it`s russian u can beliave me^)))

by the way on rassian this lines look like

    Февраль, достать чернил и плакать

    Писать о феврале навзрыд,

    Пока грохочущая слякоть

    Весною черною горит

  • but any way translator can`t halp u understand russian language. it`s not for everybody, but u can try to lern it. this language is amazeing))))

  • i love regina, she is my favourite singer of all time...

and six pence none the richer, amybe muse. but she is the best out of all of them...

  • she sang this on my birthday lol. it sounds so pretty!

  • I like her hairstyle

  • that's her natural hair :)

  • Color or texture?

  • both!

  • Wow I love her hair! Especially the color XD

  • Russian with French Title?

    Great song though.

  • gives me chills

  • hah!!! her lips like attack!!

  • what?

  • I'm in love.

  • Я люблю Регина! Большинство людей не живут в хороших, как и в студии, но я не для нее.

  • is this really a language? this is totally awesome!

    the song is great, too...

  • lol. i was talking about what officialeleanor said below, not the song. well, my second part is about the song, obviously.

  • The Russian part is from a poem by Boris Pasternak. It translates to "February. Get ink, shed tears. Write of it, sob your heart out, sing, While torrential slush that roars

Burns in the blackness of the spring."

  • shes awesome live

  • aw man.

"apès moi,le deluge" is french and "Fevrale dostat chernil i plakat

    Pisat O Fevrale navsnryd

    Poka grohochushaya slyakot

Vesnoyu charnoyu gorit" at 2:18 is russian.

  • Translate?

  • après moi,le deluge

    Is french.

    For After me, The flood.

    And then the

    "Fevrale dostat chernil i plakat

    Pisat O Fevrale navsnryd

    Poka grohochushaya slyakot

    Vesnoyu charnoyu gorit" Is russian.

  • okay, i know french, and it title does translate to after me, but wtf is she saying in russian?

  • Comment removed

  • What an amazing song :)

I love that Russian part in the middle; wish she would sing more of her songs in Russian.

  • I love this song so much!!! ;-))) regina's awesome!

  • russian???? I always knew she had an accent from her voice in her songs but I didn't know she was russian... thats cool...

  • holy shit!...regina spektor owns all

  • it's not all french. it's russian in the middle.

  • That's hilarious.

  • after me comes the flood. fuck yeah it does! this song rocks

  • I was at this show...she's amazing, but

mushrooms & Regina don't really mix.

  • I was there!

  • I like the French best, which is really strange, because my roots are all English, Russian, German, etc. but no French!

  • for you mwsnail from the uk it is amazing indeed

for the rest of the world it's not that weird

you see there are some people that actualy learn foreign languages

  • I feel so much emotion from this song. It amazes me how good Regina Spektor is every time I listen to this. And the ending definitely sounds Russian with the tune.

  • is that suppose to be a french song? or a russian song because moi is a french word but alot of ppol say that its russian besides regina spektor has a russian blood

  • She's singing first in English, then a line or two of French, then Russian. Multi-lingual? Yes. Amazing? Hell yes.

  • It's not just moi that is french. Après is also french. Après Moi means after me.

  • It's not just Après Moi that is french. Le déluge is also french. So the french words are 'Après moi le déluge' which means 'After me comes the flood'. This phrase is attributed to the King of France Louis XV.

  • i wish i could get to see her live!

  • oh my god that was so amazing.

  • I think she has the most amazing voice!!! I'm doing that song for the talent show. Some people call me weirdfro singing a russian song because i'm asian but i call them raciest.

  • her voice is amazing!! and how she plays the piano....wooooww....shes awsome!!!

  • Begin to Stand. Not sure why this comment was marked as spam!

  • If you want the russian text its: Февраль. Достать чернил и плакать!

    Писать о феврале навзрыд,

    Пока грохочущая слякоть

    Весною черною горит.

  • What does that translate to?

  • "February...To get the inks and to cry

To write about february sob violantly

    While rumbling slush

    by a spring burns black"

Or, at least that's what comebody else posted ahead of me. I just looked back at the earlier comments.

  • She is SOO adorable! my goodness :) How she would cower her head and smile shyly at the crowd. Ahh. Love her voice.

  • lol sounds like a girl and calmer version of SOAD.

  • Hehe I hear it too

  • hm interesting comparison... are you speaking lyrically or musically?

  • A Boris Pasternak poem

  • i <3 her talent............................

  • she is perfect *_*

  • i know!! she is!

  • I loooooooooove how she sings the words in Russian. On the CD she sings them a little bit more clean-cut and less...um, what's the word...expressive? Here she sounds like a Russian woman that's just a little pissed off, hahaha. I love Regina!

  • what about unorthodoxy by Carl Rust?

  • Are there any other songs where she sings in russian?

  • 8th Floor, which isn't on any of her albums, and it's very good. And if you REALLY want to dig deep, there's a 9 minute clip of her reading a story called Water Woman in Russian floating about on the interwebs if you like.

  • The link is somewhere on Brümstix too.

  • She puts so much of herself into every song and performance, but the way she sings the russian part here... GOD its great!

  • I would love it if she performed at the Oscars! Ahh how amazing would that be??

  • FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC

  • for the sports scores afficiandos (sp?)

    are you listening lol?

    can you understand?

  • Great upload! 5 points ;]

  • She HAS to perform at the Oscars..I mean she has loads of A List fans like, Viggo Mortensen for one...and also the world can see just how great she is,somebody should just take just any of her songs and use it in a film, they are Masterpieces!!!

  • this is one of my favorite songs on the album

  • She has the most angelic smile at the very end of the clip. :)

  • it freaking breaks my heart lol this song omg.

  • She is so beautiful,

and her voice is remarkably great.

This song is so gorgeous too.

She should sing more in Russian.

  • I love Russian

  • ohh, regina this is really beautiful! Love the russian part most of all

  • what language is she singing

  • To: cubankagome.

She's singing both French and Russian. "Apres moi" is French and the longer verse is Russian.

  • It's French. It means "after me"

  • apres moi is french for after me.

  • =)))))))

  • We love you Regina :)

  • Gawd, she's amazing!

  • WOW! Haunting, chillnig performance.

Her smile at the end is the sweetest

"February...To get the inks and to cry

  • Февраль... достать чернил и плакать

    Писать о феврале навзрыд

    Пока грохочущая слякоть

    весною чёрною горит

  • im the only one in our class who appreciates this type of music. i fell in love with it.

  • This sends chills down my spine.

  • Mine too...

  • it really does make me laugh the amount of comments on her glottal stop (the "gulping" sound)

surely it is wrong to say that she can do that yet is not original. If you don't like it, then don't listen to it! If you comment badly on an artist people feel so passionately about (I have come to feel she's an either love her or hate her type girl), you're comment isn't going to go un answered!

I think her music is amazing.

    & she is unique.

Quit slagging her off to her fanbase!

    jeez.

  • She's got an unspeakable spellbinding power about her... it really moves me. Deeply.

  • She's just way too talented to actually exist. I'll believe in her when I see her.

  • Nice way to put it. I can hardly believe it either. Are imperfect human beings capable of music like this. It doesn't seem possible. Like you, I think I may have to see her in person to believe :)

  • Poor Regina is hungry and is trying to eat a microphone :P

Regina is cool I would love to meet her :D

  • OMG, I wrote a comment without saying how amazing Regina is. :(

ily ily ily Regina. Whew, much better.

  • You guys are kinda silly. Accents come from vowel usage generally and when you sing, those vowels are different from spoken words. You cannot hear accents as easily. Most British artists for instance sing without an accent.

  • I'm french, I speak English, I speak Russian. This song is made for me!!!!! XD

  • Best song i have EVER heard, so creative, imaginative, meaning - stunning!

  • When she sings in English, it's so... english. When she sings in French, it's so french. When she sings in Russian, it's so russian. She's such a brilliant artist!

And she's so adorable, I would like to eat her!

  • Do you know French and Russian? I doubt you could tell how "french" or "russian" she sounds unless you spoke the language fluently.

  • I live in Estonia where many people speak Russian. In addition, some of my close relatives are Russian. And I myself have been learning French for few years. So I may not be fluent but it just seems to me that the accent in minimal, as I have heard both strong Russian and French accents:)

  • Although I have to admit that my mother, who is fluent in Russian, told me that she only understood half of the Russian part... So you may be right. But it is just my opinion and I can't say it better:)

  • Regina's russian is very clear. No accent.

The russian lyrics she sings is very allegoric tho.
