but please remember emmett, sweet emmett, never DID use expensive jazzy musicians like the dorsey bros in his vaudeville days .... so what DID emmett REALLY sound like? guess weéll never know ....
THANKS ! ! ! for this post - I used to have an old 78 of this EXACT version, and at some long distant point it got to be one of my favorites. The flip-side is "I Ain't got Nobody". I found the disc in the cabinet of my Aunt Lucy's old crank victrola. Now I hear this old song without scratches!!! p.s. Hey - I didn't know Emmett Miller wasn't black!
thanks for the tune - from Ken in Houston 4/13/2011
.. and Moon Mullican, Tommy Duncan, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley as well apparently. Emmett Miller links western swing and country to swing and jazz. The original versions of "Lovesick blues" include Miller's and one by blues singer Betha Hill.
i just now realized that the part that hank williams uses as a bridge is the part that miller uses as an intro.

I remember this song when I was a young boy, then in 1948 I heard it again when Hank recorded it. Love hearing it again.

@EyeruleNork
Emmett Miller wasn't black. He just did some blackface routines now and then.
