  • how does that sound good

  • dam that cool that your guys make money. i wish i had that. but i do 923 bucks a mounth but my bills are hella less your guys have lots of skillz but i just want to say dont do drugs lik dj am did and your skillz will grow in too other one's and you will still be alive and thats the most impoart part. and i just too repeat im lolahh.

  • That sick! And Double time too! :O xx

  • make make maereahereah itch

  • if you pay attention, towards the end, q-bert scratches in regular turntable mode. i thought he was strictly hamster.

  • It's not qbert in the video...It's Dj Rafik

  • thanks for correction. i thought i was seeing things..lol

  • @onecarehere Nah q can scratch anyway he wants, and that isnt him, I saw a video of him doing chirps with regular style.

  • All that scratching is making me itch!!!!!!

  • @browntuka hahaha....best dj...

  • put the four fingered crab in the skratchlopedia but where you do it and then put in reverse. like regular 4 fingered crab would be pinky, ring, middle, index but then after that you go backwards like index, middle, ring. so 4 clicks then 3 clicks the other way. DJ Newsense from madison came up with that I think.

  • ive been making up my own scratches

  • yea i been maken up my own scratches too mines called the skratch my ass move lol

  • does any1 have a ttm for this? it would really help

  • There's a thread in the Skratchlounge forum with the TTMs for both variations

  • R you saying is there 1 for sale? If you aren't then the best to me would be the rane 56 or the pioneer 909...aka Blaze

  • ...This is why it sounds weird, it is shifting through the beat (because it repeats after 9 sounds, not after 12), it makes it appear faster i guess. The click is just like how you would do a regular 2click orbit. Trust me, once figured out everybody will be like "ooh my god THATS it????" swear to god its a really damn simple combo actually.sorry for the confusion. hope that was of help, maybe read this while watching the video so it won't be too confusing."

  • Rafik about the scratch:

"First off I am glad everybody enjoys that little combo. But then I gotta apologize because I made a little mistake on the DVD myself (it was done pretty quickly, sorry for that) - what I am doing in the video slowed down is not exactly the same combo as the fast one.

So the "real" fast autobahn is basically a tear-2click flare with 9 sounds. (1-2-3-4-5-6 is the foreward bit with a tear, 7-8-9 includes backwards move to get to the beginning of the sample used)...

  • WTF?

  • That's exactly right for the slow one. The faster one he does is a different pattern.

  • Yes, but the faster one he does isn't a different patterm: it's the same patterm executed in twiddle mode.

  • No, it's a totally differnet pattern, or do you not understand the timing of music?

  • Yes I understand what part of this scratch you are talking about. This part is the autobahn executed with two fingers and with the hand on the turntable moving the disk faster than the slow one, but the patterm he's executing is the same. It seems different, but is not different. There are only two changes: 1)twiddle mode on the fader; 2)faster movement of the hand on the turntable.

  • Quote from Rafik:

I gotta apologize because I made a little mistake on the DVD myself (it was done pretty quickly, sorry for that) - what I am doing in the video slowed down is not exactly the same combo as the fast one.

  • Ok...I have watched this combo again and you're right: the fast part is a different combo. As I can notice, in the fast part Rafik is doing the autobahn but, instead of doing it with baby scratchs, he's executing it with drills and with two fingers moving the fader(twiddle. Anyway, I think that this is not a totally different patterm, but a different modulation of the autobahn he's executing in the first part: the sound is different, but the basic concept is the same.

  • That's exactly right for the slow one. The faster one he does is a different pattern.

  • if anyone can help try to explain this scratch we have a thread going on at

skratchworx website forum in "general" called scratchlopedia breaktannica help thread

there are 11 pages on it (yes, 11!) and rafik himself has given an explanation on page 10, but we're still having trouble!...

  • The only flare involved here is a delayed 2-click.

It goes: delayed 2-click then open, baby scratch (then close) to make a total of 8 sounds.

You have to travel forward then back again as well, you can work out where...

  • Actually I'm not sure this is correct LOL

  • Yeah that makes sense. But i tryed to use the fingerstyle flare to figure it out the right way, but mine sounds wack.

You can do it with an OG flare as well.

I can only do it in slowmo, when i try to do it faster i loose control and it sounds wack again.

Brilliant scratch but to my very dificult.

    Thx for the explaination Fels

  • When slowed down, the fast part sounds like 3 two-click original flares but finger style. One OG flare for each fwd-back record motion, as there are 3 of these that make up the complete scratch. One normal baby scratch, then a long-fwd-short-back baby & finally one with a short-fwd-long-back. I hope this makes sense to somebody.

  • i have been trying to get this scratch down for days at speed,,, it is so hard. can anyone tell me is he twiddling it on the double time one?

it looks like it but im not sure more than one finger touches the fader..i dont think so. any advice welcome

  • For everyone who thinks this is easy just because you get to watch this, give me a break... alright, in the beginning there were no instructional videos, but it still takes years to develop that kind of coordination and strength in your hands, plus you have to have some rhythm, kids... I started in '82, so take it from me... Love!

  • what beat is that??

  • next week i ot the DVD ,then i will upload it for all you guys!

  • sweet what can link me to a mirror (pm me if you have to) - thanks

  • THATS SICK, I'M STILL DOING CHIRPS

  • i started some thread on a couple of forums called

"scratchlopedia breaktannica help thread", where anyone who needs advice can ask,

there is a thread at the following forums

(i cant put links on here it doesnt seem to let me so you will just have to find them yourselves!)

dmc official site (in turntablism forum)

dj qberts official site (in sound science forum)

and skratchworx site (in general forum)

  • dope

  • enfoe: "you guys are nerds"

    agreed

  • And you're a piece of crap that can barely read

  • Whats the point of this. We are going to have a lot more biters now. Learn how to do this stuff on your own. Don't pay $24.00 for this.

  • so every guy who takes a class to learn somthing is a biter?

  • This is not taking a class. This is learning how to do other peoples techniques and flow so you can sound just like them. Why not just learn the basics and build on that, rather than buying something stupid like this. I thought it was all about soul and flow now, people are turning back into dick riders nerds.

  • you guys are nerds. lol jk

  • just watched the whole dvd. crazy ill stuff

  • Oh really is a TEASER, I can't read what it says!

  • Scratchlopedia Breaktannica have to be uploaded on Youtube!!!

  • BUMP!!:-). This scratch is sick btw. I get it, but can't do at fast as this (yet and maybe never)

  • Whats the combo man?

  • its pretty much two 1-click flares put together one after the other. It works best with a sound sample using 2 distinct sounds in one.

The name comes from a German highway that zig zag back in forth in symmetrical patterns like an 8 or clover shape.

  • yeh i see what you mean...im wondering if you need to twiddle it though to get the double time sound he gets...seems impossible to get if you dont

  • in the video, he does seem to twiddle to get the forward and back flare in the first half of the scratch quicker. But yeah, youll get the scratch down if u break it down in slow mo and practice ur way up there.

  • I reckon itchidakilla was close. It sounds like a chirp-oneclickflare-reversechirp-reversedrag. A total of 7 notes....4 notes fwd & 3 notes back.

  • Nice! If u check out Dj Troubl he dose this but calls it-delete scratch!? Chirp-flare-reversechirp-flare-etc

  • They look similar but I think Troubl's 'delete' scratch is different to what Rafik is doing here.

  • i dont know lol. It looks the same to me! Just a different variation.Still two of'em r dope.Havin trouble with the fast one tho lol.Checked out ur vids too man really nice..

  • wow, thanks for this sweet tutorial. i got this yesterday and took me like an hour to realize how autobahn is done lol.

  • autobahn is german and the same like Highway^^

  • looks dope

  • I've been wondering what that scratch was...

  • Thanks everyone! Just a reminder.
