None of these bands you're talking about labelled as grunge ever used that word to describe themselves. it's just a stoopid term that the press stuck on a "scene" to make twats who also use it able to categorise it so they can falsely make it sound like they know what they're on about. It's not a genre of music, ask the bands themselves. It's just the media cheapening something so they can pull it apart, which they always have and will.
