With some modifications it can, but the mac version of the games are somehow more compatible with Linux, maybe because they're based on similar languages. Remember: Linux is like an Engine software, you can make it the way you want. Windows is more popular because its a Lazy people OS and 97% of humanity is super lazy

There are different versions of linux. Each version is also known as a distribution. For example, this one is Ubuntu, I use Slackware. Beryl is a "program" that helps make everything work pretty. Do a quick google search on Ubuntu Official Website if you're interested.

I have both Ubuntu and Vista on the same pc and I experience exactly the opposite of what you are saying. Ubuntu is very fast and never crashes, Vista is sluggish and blue screens or freezes often.

yes, they emulate windows environment (and they can run in fullscreen) there are also linux versions of games like quake 3, enemy territory, quake 4 and more.

Many games work out of the box on Ubuntu, however, some will require some forum searching and/or tinkering to work properly. Most all mainstream games (World of Warcraft, All Steam games, Bioshock, etc.) will work 100% though.

Once into the OS, I tried to play some music, but that didn't work.. I followed about 5 guides on the internet but none of them fixed my problems (so I don't have sound in Ubuntu), I tried to install beryl.. but nothing happened. Then I started compiz and selected wobbly windows and the cube feature, only the wobbly windows worked but the title bar dissappeared...

When I installed ubuntu, I couldn't open the graphical interface, so I had to reboot Vista to find a forum to get all te codes i had to type into the command line to get it to work.

I Rebooted and had to change som config files aswell so I didn't have to type inn the command lines ever time I wanted to start Ubuntu (7.04), the boot took much longer time than Vista aswell.

Ubuntu and Beryl desktop are both free. Both are entirely legal softwares/OS's. Beryl enables you to have a 3-d desktop in Ubuntu, and Linux allows anyone to mess with their source code, so it's not 'hacking' if you mess with the system. There are thousands of arcade style games available for ubuntu. That are free and open source. But don't expect latest pc games to work on linux, not because linux is inferior but because game vendors are not prepared to make games for linux pcs - low market so why bother phylosophy! Quake 3 and unreal 2004 have been released for linux. Checkif your graphics card is supported?
