They are also the men who gave us the 3/5ths Compromise at the Philadelphia Convention in 1787. In case you’ve forgotten, the compromise meant that each African American black person would only be counted as 3/5ths of a person in the national census. And don't forget, "all MEN are created equal." Women were not permitted to vote.

They are also the men who gave us the 3/5ths Compromise at the Philadelphia Convention in 1787. In case you’ve forgotten, the compromise meant that each African American black person would only be counted as 3/5ths of a person in the national census. And don't forget, "all MEN are created equal." Women were not permitted to vote.

In various ages of enlightenment, the opposite has been true. The USA IS great. It has accomplished great, huge things that no other nation has been able to accomplish. Further I don't think we are in decline at this point. We can and will still find our way back.

Funny how you never see anyone with any amount of wisdom touting communism as workable. Communism is a dream and a dumb one. Wake up, folks, it has never worked and it will never work. It will only result in a hundred million more deaths. If this were an experimental energy source that killed 50 million people but could supposedly maybe provide endless clean energy we would scrap it as too dangerous - why do we keep giving Communism one chance after another?

also its important to note that many people only consider stateless communism to be "real communism" in fact marx (the "father" of communism) said that their should be no hierarchies of any kind.
fascism on the other hand is strongly hierarchic and requires strong government control. Although again, these terms are somewhat loose and their is some argument over the details of how to classify political ideas.

This built a society that was stable, prosperous, free, and more humane than the American one. Is the US better than the countries you mentioned in terms of freedoms and standards of living? Of course. But to lump Democratic Socialism with Authoritarian Stalinism/Communism is ridiculous.

If people listen to what is actually being said, and don't allow the meaningless and irrelevant text that is distracting the viewers from the content of the message - they would realize that what Van is saying merely addresses the scientifically proven degenerative trend of our economic trajectories on all ecological systems both human and global.
