I am a Marlins fan and I agree. The time for excuses is over. It is time for south florida fans to start supporting the Marlins properly. Huizenga hasn't owned the team in a decade so his dismantling of the team in '98 is no longer an excuse plus the team now has a stadium coming and will be here for at least 30 yrs. This are was able to get 30k to the games at one point it is time that we get at least to the mid 20k's again and show the country that this team has real fans.

The Marlins, last season weren't a smart team. They were basically a hack-or-miss team. They either hit a ton of homeruns or struck out a lot.

And yet they still beat the Mets the past two years and closed the awful Shea Stadium down for good

They weren't technically eliminated until the last week of the season, and they were 4 games behind when with 15 games left, at one point. You could say that they were still "out of it", but what does that make the Phillies from two years ago? They were seven games out with 17 games and the Mets choked. I know the Marlins never ended up going, but you should never say that a team is "out" until they are mathematically out.

I see what you're trying to say, thing is, it's not a convincing argument on how the Mets are much better than the Marlins. Truth is, they were within 6 games of each other at season's end this past year and head-to-head, the season series 8-10 in favour of the Mets, so you can only say that the Mets were marginally better than the Marlins last year. Take into account, however, the fact that the Mets have $138 million payroll and the Marlins were supposed to lose 100 games this season.
