I'm surprised. How do people not like this song? It reflects Cid's character perfectly, with the driving hip-hop alternating with the lighter, more hopeful operatic chorus bits/ending. Even the lyrics match the transformation he goes through from when the party first meets him to when he finally forgives Shera, who represents the crossroad. He gives up his dream of being "immortalized" as the first astronaut by forgiving Shera, content with the man he is. Favorite song on the album.

This is great. When I was 16 I did a remix of Cid's Theme for my practical music GCSE. It's a shame that I never heard of OCR until 2009 (even though I had heard a few of the remixes elsewhere before that). I would have submitted my remix back in 2004. My remix was crap compared to this though if I may be so modest.

@F0gre Personally I didn't really like the gruffy/rap, but I thought the second half of the theme played out pretty well towards the end. Plus it's pretty ballsy for the remixer to actually sing, usually remixes with vocals are either just background vocals, or done by women

The rapping is pretty representative of Cid's personality, I think. Harsh (in a good sense), loud, and driving. I think it fits perfectly. I could go on and on about how this song is perfect, but I think I'll stop there and try to not look like such a nerd.

I love this version :P I used to listen to this in the car with a friend and we always imagined that the characters sing this, with Cloud being the light background voice that echoes "everthing you hear..." etc., Vincent doing the rap, Cid the main part/singing and Barret's epic part is the "woo!" at 2:13

Not trying to be a troll here but... this song sucks. How do you go from military sounding and strong and stuff to rap and hip-hop? Seriously, I doubt Cid is the kind of guy to start breaking out into freaking dance and shit. I think he'd be the kind of guy that would shoot people down if he had to , not attack them with retarded rap dancing. Just saying.

@epicplatinumdragoon I can't really picture Cid doing that either, but out of all the FFVII characters, he's definitely the closest, being all gruff and mundane. If I were looking for a remix of the original, I don't think I would be looking for this style, but considering the direction that they took this in, I think it ended up pretty good - you just have to roll with it.

When I heard the chorus of this remix, I can't help but think "Linken Park". That's how good I think this track is. Kudos!

The lyrics are really, really meaningful. I just replayed FF7 recently and this totally reflects Cid's inner self - his dreams, his dealings with Shinra, his hatred for Shera that laters turns to remorse and respect. Beautiful!
