I ask myself that all the time! It's either that they all broke down in similar ways over the years (not unreasonable, admittedly) or did they all just start that way to begin with!? :D
Mine was screwed up right out of the box. I'm not sure why we didn't return it.
Coleco seemed to have a lousy pre-Colecovision track record.
I also had a Coleco Telstar Arcade an earlier cartridge system. The pack-in cartridge never worked properly. The other cartridge I had worked, but after a couple months, the lightgun stopped working. No matter where you aimed, it always scored a hit.
When I got my Atari 2600, I was amazed at how well it worked. I expected all video games to screw up. :)
I had one of these and the video was all screwed up. It was like the vertical hold was set to the halfway point.
Did they ever make any of these consoles that worked properly?
