  • @thesonivasu try keepvid.com

  • @Asmita27: I was contesting somebody who said the lyrics is "Mein malang tera iktara" which was translated to "Me Sufi, your iktara!" This made absolutely no sense to me. I think the lyrics is "Bemalang tera iktara" which means that your iktara is out of tune or plays without direction/crazily. This makes sense if you hear the lyrics of the other version (played in happy times) where this line is replaced by "Goonja sa hai koi iktara" which we all know means that "an iktara reverberates"!

  • Malang is not a category found in one Particular location. Malang means who doesn't want to thing about anything else apart from the person he loves.. Doesn't even himself... He just keep roaming everywhere looking for his beloved chanting his name and most of the time carrying instrument:iktara... All sufi poets are malangss.. they don't give damn about any other person, other then their GOD.... :) :)

  • @chhabrapuneet Thanks.Great.

  • @Tambulwadkar My pleasure dear...

  • @chhabrapuneet THANKYOU for that explanation! I never understood the chorus of this song.. now it all makes sense thanks to you. This is the kind of stuff one can't find in a dictionary. Thanks again

  • @Asmita27 My Pleasure dear... Correct.. very difficult to find such meanings and also people..

  • @chhabrapuneet another utuber explained the meaning and I am wondering what you think about it: "Very similar to to the Malang in Pakistan, iktara (often called ektara) is played in eastern parts of India ... for example I am from bengali and the "baul" (a hindu counterpart to sufis) only sing with the ektara. In this song, Be-malang tera iktara means "your iktara is out of tune" ... cont -

  • I want to download this song can any body tell me the link...pls.

  • This version of song " Male Version " is very good and well sung. Well both version are good too if u get bored with one u can listen anoher one.

  • he got squinty eyes

  • Omg. This is aweeesome.

  • i dont know what garbage seems to think but iktara is used all over in india usually in villages eg in bengal BAUL people use iktara while singing folk songs

  • @scrakshit agree...BAUL ppl of bengal... dance to devotional music with a deep meaning for the society and always carry the iktara with them..because it has one single playing string it is called iktara....

  • I may be wrong, but what I know is Malang meaning Joy/Happiness.

  • mirabai (an aristocratic Hindu mystical singer and sahajiy) also use to play iktara

  • no words......simply awesome....wt a lyrics.......i just want to listen this again n again.....really one of the best song ever........n ever.... :)

  • I like the song but why it resembles ARR song.Another point in this song is "deva rangu thera ikathara...deva rangu thera ikathara" rhyms with Jai Jai ram ram... Jai Jai ram ram"

  • awesome song man

  • This is also great, but Kavita version is great;

Dekhy sapany Boond boond; ankhoon ko moond moond !!!!!

  • i like thiz songs!!!!!

  • Malang people in pakistan are people who follow Sufism and play an instrument called "Iktara" which is a single stringed instrument. They play qwalis and other songs very oriented towards Sufism.

"Mein malang tera iktara" probably means that I am a Malang who plays one stringed instrument, one string most likely signifying that only you are in my mind/ only you are for me.

  • @garbage793 i think it makes sense..and all sufis songs are so great.

  • @garbage793 dude awesome description, i am deeply impressed, i wonder why have you named yourself ''garbage'' when you are pretty useful.

  • @garbage793 Thank you! I had been asking around about the word 'Iktara' and no-one could help!

As a singer, this piece enchants me. I'd so love to perform it.

  • @garbage793 i think it means: just like the malangs had only one possession, one source of happiness, one thing that meant everything to them in their lives - namely the iktara, the hero has only one highlight in his life

  • @ajaktha Makes sense!

  • @garbage793 its "ve malang tera iktara" means "your iktara plays without melody"

  • @garbage793 the lyrics says its "Bemalang tera iktara" what is it?

  • @garbage793 You are Unlike Your name!!! :) AWESOME explanation... :)

  • @garbage793 Aww.., wat an enlighting comment from a strange ID Viz "Garbage"793...:)!! I think u r too sarcastic..., anyway Thanks a ton!!

  • @garbage793 it ve malanga i think =p

  • @garbage793 its ve malanga i thinkk =p

  • @garbage793 : That is what we call : Finding substance in the garbage :) . (no offence just that your comment is so not a garbage :) )

  • Comment removed

  • @garbage793 Very similar to to the Malang in Pakistan, iktara (often called ektara) is played in eastern parts of India ... for example I am from bengali and the "baul" (a hindu counterpart to sufis) only sing with the ektara. In this song, Be-malang tera iktara means "your iktara is out of tune" ... you can see that the rest of the song speaks about how things are out of place ... so "be-malang tera iktara makes perfect sense ... however "mein malang, tera iktara" doesn't make any sense at all.

  • @indranilroy1983 nothing about pakistan has ever made any sense you think the words of this song makes no sense ?why are you listening it then ?this also dont make any sense ,does it

  • @indranilroy1983 someone said that "Malang means who doesn't want to think about anything else apart from the person he loves.. not even himself... He just keeps roaming everywhere looking for his beloved chanting his name and most of the time carrying instrument:iktara... All sufi poets are malangs.. they don't give damn about any other person, other then their GOD"

  • @indranilroy1983 Cont. It also matches with the dictionary definition of Malang I found: "it matches with the dictionary definition I found for it: "A kind of Moḥammadan derwish, who lets the hair of his head grow to its full length, and leaves it uncombed and dishevelled; a derwish in a state of ecstasy; a religious enthusiast".. so what I gathered is that the song is saying, "I am an Iktara without a Malang"? What do you think?

  • @Asmita27 Hey that's really nice to find the definition, but if u can see the pundits design these definitions. So its a good one from their point of view. As its said here that they let their hair grow but its not only that, its every material thing or related to their body is long forgotten. they don't give any importance to their body or looks as it is just medium...Cont..

  • @Asmita27 :Cont...Their real love is their soul, their god , their beloved. he is considering himself as an ektara and telling the other person that i am malang and you have to tune me.. i am distuned... Accept me and tune me : " ve malang tera ektara"....

  • @chhabrapuneet You and @indranilroy1983 have both confused me. One of you is saying be and the other is saying ve. Now which on is it? I see how out of tune makes sense. But when @chhabrapuneet explained what malang was, I thought the song said, "be-malang tera Iktara" and it would mean that there is no one to play the Iktara.. be (without) malang (a sufi who plays the malang). In this logic, the happy goonja sa means that there is someone to play the Iktara. Cont-

  • @chhabrapuneet and @indranilroy1983 - cont- I don't understand how you both are getting to the conclusion that "be/ve-malang tera Iktara" means that the Iktara is out of tune. I would really appreciate it if you guys can explain further. And thankyou so much for taking the time to do this. :)

  • @Asmita27 it means "My iktara continues to harp without any chord, melody or joy…."

  • @anshulff Thankyou for that :)

  • @Asmita27 chk dis link

    spinningawheel.blogspot.com/2009/12/969-iktara-male-version-from-wake-up.html

  • @garbage793 considering malangs are still alive in pakistan we dont expect them to sing bhajans anymore...
