That's funny, why do you need to set it what time zone you are in when it takes time from the satellite which, duh. should be a given, should know what time zone ur in.

That's because GPS works in UTC not local time. So to match your camera date and time settings, you need to set the time zone.

Many great uses.
Place it on your cat to find out exactly where he disappears to everyday.
Place it on your teenage daughter's purse to find out if she really went over to her friend's house.

I like this device. Because It works independent.Need no device drivers when I upload GPS log to my PC. Work together with many cameras except Sony.
This device is using with camera. But I also use it for tracking myself without camera.
