Obviously, however this is an instructional video and you failed to mention this as well as taking any safety precautions for over-spray or breathing protection.
@RSBSTEADICAM thanks for the feedback. actually the directions for the radiator protection are in the description of the video for everyone to see. Any warnings for inhalation, like any other spraypaint product in the world, are printed on the can. People can handle those as they see fit. thanks again for watching.
@lutaung yes but ONLY using the blended and pre-thinned dip we offer on dipyourcar. try spraying regular plastidip and you won't get a drop out the tip of the gun
Hey, quick question, i'm thinking about plasti-dipping my front vw emblem too, but I was wondering if you covered behind the emblem so none of the spray gets on anything.
How do you plasti dip emblems on an already dipped car? After you've dipped the emblems won't the outer areas that you'd normally peel away, stick to the already dipped car?
This is really easy to apply and use. No need to pay someone. If u can use a spray paint can u can certaintly do this your self.. Be smart and use common sense and take your time.. Very easy to use... A toothpick works great to get in between the letters on the rear trunk..
What if I sprayed the side guard's of my grand cheorkee with it, and then went mudding with it (not rock crawling), and got mud on it. Then i went to spray it off with soap and pressure washer at a car was. Will it peel?
you can mask the area off and paint it but, as soon as you put the can of pain down pull the tape off slowly. works way better. Promise. I've Plastidiped four different car's rims. like painted all my friends emblems on there cars. I love this stuff. Home Depo is only half a mile from my house. Can you say $5.43 a can.
Does this stuff work on plastic bumpers. I have chrome and grey plastic bumpers on my truck. I want to keep the chrome on the bumper but I want the gray bumper part painted black....so would plastidip work
@bdbrown3889 because the small gap between the edge of the emblem and the body of the car automatically cuts the dip - so it can perfectly etch around any shape!
i've got a 1991 ford f-150, the previous owner rattlecanned blue on the front/rear bumpers and all 4 american racing outlaw 2 wheels. should i try to sand as much off or just wash all the dirt off and then P-dip it? and howmany cans should i use?
Hey man, great job!. I was wondering, How long does this stuff hold up on the grille? Also I have noticed you didnt prime or sand the chrome, Is that ok? I have a Passat and want the grille blacked out, but wondering if it is worth it, considering things such as stones on the road. Also I have sensors in my grille, how do i avoid damaging them? Any advice would be appreciated.
Fonz, question for you that Ive seen several people ask, havent got a good answer or found a solution yet. I tried painting a section in the middle of my hood with plasti dip like i did with my lower bumper and grille (those came out good) but my hood came out horrible! Being a larger section it wasnt the same texture all the way across and was very rough to the touch (more than was supposed to be). so i just peeled it right off after it dried. So, How can I paint a hood and make it look good?
@s2knott PlastiDipping large flat surfaces and getting even coverage is the hardest task to do. You have to keep your spray distance perfectly even the ENTIRE time, let the plastidip build up little by little, spray from 5-6 inches away, use LARGE sweeping motions that cover the whole area on each pass and don't overlap too much. Practice on a large piece of cardboard or something - but once you get it - you'll see what I mean. It's just a matter of being consistent and patient.
@DipYourCarcom does having that spray handle, or getting the liquid dip and spraying through your nozel, change the output at all? or is it basically the same as a spray can?
@s2knott The spray handle doesn't change the output - but it does give you a better sense of control. It distances your hand away from the bottle, so you actually see the entire stream coming out of the can - which helps you lay it down more accurately.
@DipYourCarcom do you realize that while spraying your grill you also sprayed your radiator / condensor and decreased the spacing in the coil fins/ airflow. the fins are to fragile to attempt removal without further damage. Id like to play with some of this stuff but I thought you would like to know before recomending people spray in the manner shown
@jrod19993467g thanks for the comment - however if you click the "show more" tab for video info, it will show that we suggest getting access to the inside of the grille, protecting the insides with cardboard or paper. Have fun with the project :)
@jrod19993467g I noticed this too. When I did my grill, I just removed it. Otherwise you could slip a newspaper behind the grill which would prevent overspray from damaging anything.
did you at all cover the radiator behind the grill? I would like to do my car w/out taking the bumper off but wasnt sure if you guys did that or not????
@julius350z Yes we usually remove the plastic shield under the hood that allows access for things like cardboard to be slipped down the front of the car, in between the grille and the radiator. However, many people spray the grille without protection behind it and try to keep the spray pattern facing downward - so that the overspray doesn't go straight through.
nice video man! did the exact same to my dub, and am wondering if you know whether or not red plasti dip would work under the hood, on battery and fuse coverings
@Djomla201 almost indefinitely. I've seen parts dipped for over 2 years and they look the same as they did the first week. Just keep it clean and don't let it get heavy damage.
@crimsoninred on straight through grilles, yes, we go in and cover the radiator with newspaper. if the grille isn't open, you can spray on a downward angle, and the dip won't make it much further than the grille.
@DipYourCarcom thanks for the reply! maybe you can do a plasti dip video on a 2010 honda civic! because i am really planning to plasti dip my grill! i just want to see the steps and tips about it! please? :)
@DipYourCarcom one more question! is the result going to be different if i plan to do this on a chilly day? because right now its fall in canada, and the temps are 6-17degrees celsius.. so im concerned about the quality of it in "a bit cold" weather
@crimsoninred no, the result will be fine. the only temperature changes that affect the plastidip are high levels of humidity. the cold will work just fine.
@hbm5006 you don't have to - just keep the spray and a downward angle so you don't spray directly into the radiator. however, with the s4, just pop the hood, remove the 4 tx screws and the plastic piece over the grille, and slip some newspaper down the front so you can spray without any worries. have fun!
