  • prep? what did you prep with?

  • Cheers!

  • Obviously, however this is an instructional video and you failed to mention this as well as taking any safety precautions for over-spray or breathing protection.

  • @RSBSTEADICAM thanks for the feedback. actually the directions for the radiator protection are in the description of the video for everyone to see. Any warnings for inhalation, like any other spraypaint product in the world, are printed on the can. People can handle those as they see fit. thanks again for watching.

  • Kinda cruel on the radiator the trans cooler etc... isn't it?

  • @RSBSTEADICAM not if you slide cardboard down behind the front grille to protect the inside components

  • What a idiot why don't you remove the shit before you paint it?

  • @colethemole0 thanks for the kind words. do some research on dipping, and you'll understand why we don't remove the "stuff" before we paint it.

  • i liked the color of the dip...is it a normal black color? or is it dark grey?

  • @SakoKeyboard that's just normal matte black

  • If u wanna be secure get a can for each rim and fifth should be enough for emblems

  • @11a5k0 right on target :)

  • how many cans did this take

  • The customers an idiot. Nice Audi

  • How much cans would I need to buy to dip the wheels, the emblems, the grille and the roof of my VW Golf?

  • @pitatotaco28 including the roof? close to 10 cans

  • How much HP does it add?

  • @AlexSchneider21 depends if the car is forced induction or not ;)

  • @AlexSchneider21

hahaha lawl it must add at least 13hp ..oh wait i'm talking to myself again. :(

  • Does it work well for plastic trim on the bumpers? (02 Monte Carlo)

  • @MonteLSV6 yes of course!

  • great video!

    thanks a lot!

  • @luishurst thank you!

  • Can I use spray gun (and air compressor) to spray Plasti Dip?

  • @lutaung yes but ONLY using the blended and pre-thinned dip we offer on dipyourcar. try spraying regular plastidip and you won't get a drop out the tip of the gun

  • OMG thank you!!

I have been going back and forth about doing my wheel and emblems, now i dont have to decide!!!

    Im SOOO doing this!!1

    Thank you!!

  • @ferrariowner123 you're welcome!

  • Hey, quick question, i'm thinking about plasti-dipping my front vw emblem too, but I was wondering if you covered behind the emblem so none of the spray gets on anything.

  • @jmartr34 we slid some cardboard down the front behind the grille

  • How do you plasti dip emblems on an already dipped car? After you've dipped the emblems won't the outer areas that you'd normally peel away, stick to the already dipped car?

  • Just plasti dipped my emblems on my TL after watching this vid. Thanks for the idea and the great tips

  • @dschaos488 you're welcome!

  • can i use 1 can in 1 whole hood

  • @jUkEz03 not even close. for a whole hood? you need a gallon of the blended we offer and a sprayer to get an even finish

  • This is really easy to apply and use. No need to pay someone. If u can use a spray paint can u can certaintly do this your self.. Be smart and use common sense and take your time.. Very easy to use... A toothpick works great to get in between the letters on the rear trunk..

  • isnt it bad spraying directly into the radiator ?

  • @Carrera911Fan we don't spray directly into the radiator - it's best to slide some cardboard or paper down the front inside the grille if possible

  • please don't ware shoes it will be better,, hahaha

  • Perfect

  • holy shit this is awesome! now i can paint my wheels (bbs rs 772) by myself and have nothing to loose :)

is it available in germany too?

  • Can i using {Rust-Oleum Lacquer Spray, Clear} to do the last coat finish???

Please give me response soon you or who ever know about it.

  • Why not just take the emblems off it's a black car with black jetta emblem???

  • I wanna do this on a cobalt but It's cold (40')could I still do it

  • What if I sprayed the side guard's of my grand cheorkee with it, and then went mudding with it (not rock crawling), and got mud on it. Then i went to spray it off with soap and pressure washer at a car was. Will it peel?

  • you can mask the area off and paint it but, as soon as you put the can of pain down pull the tape off slowly. works way better. Promise. I've Plastidiped four different car's rims. like painted all my friends emblems on there cars. I love this stuff. Home Depo is only half a mile from my house. Can you say $5.43 a can.

  • Great!!

Is this color real black? It looks a little bit grey?

    Thank you, bye!

  • хуйня полная

  • @jrod19993467g what would you reccomend i do if i wanna plasti dip the emblem on my car but i dont want to damage anything under the hood

  • What about behind the grill? xD

  • thats not 2011

  • How long does this last? Do you have to recoat after some time? Does it wear off? Thanks

  • can i plastidip tail lights???

  • How does Plastidip hold up to car washes?

  • @floydavila very well - just no harsh brushes

  • Plasti dip MASTER

  • @MWARDEM :)

  • so you dont need to scuff or scotch bright any of the plastic for that to work??

  • @johnstonape No way. No scuffing, sanding, priming or any prep except cleaning

  • Great tutorial!!

  • @Rockstar121292 thank you!

  • How did it turn out so smooth, i did my emblem and its kinda rough

  • @beastlybertram18 if you got a rough texture - your spray distance was too far away

  • Does this stuff work on plastic bumpers. I have chrome and grey plastic bumpers on my truck. I want to keep the chrome on the bumper but I want the gray bumper part painted black....so would plastidip work

  • can i spray plaswtidip on my registration plate and remove it after i pass the speed camera?

  • @DipYourCarcom would it work on head lights and/or the signals???

  • @Helrow1

If you're asking if you can black them out, no.

    Get niteshades paint.

Plastidip will stop them from emitting light entirely.

  • what is my body is white? would the seams show from the tape?

  • When you pull of the overspray, on the emblems for example, how does it not take the coat from the emblem as well?

  • @bdbrown3889 because the small gap between the edge of the emblem and the body of the car automatically cuts the dip - so it can perfectly etch around any shape!

  • @DipYourCarcom Awesome. Thanks man. Great videos!

  • i've got a 1991 ford f-150, the previous owner rattlecanned blue on the front/rear bumpers and all 4 american racing outlaw 2 wheels. should i try to sand as much off or just wash all the dirt off and then P-dip it? and howmany cans should i use?

  • @MuddyChassisRC you can spray the dip right over the old paint. for 4 wheels and the bumpers you'll need about 7 cans to be safe

  • haha your website should be "plastidipyourwip(dot)com"

  • @eyekill3dk3nny lol thanks for the suggestion :)

  • will the plastidip work in the garage? if its a little cold

  • @evolvedsniping of course!

  • @DipYourCarcom

Hey man, great job!. I was wondering, How long does this stuff hold up on the grille? Also I have noticed you didnt prime or sand the chrome, Is that ok? I have a Passat and want the grille blacked out, but wondering if it is worth it, considering things such as stones on the road. Also I have sensors in my grille, how do i avoid damaging them? Any advice would be appreciated.

  • rey from mcallen tx. ur videos are very easy to follow/ keep up the good work

  • @kroltor thank you Rey!

  • ive seen alot of ur videos and ive learned alot, i think ur the shit

  • @kroltor lol I appreciate that :)

  • How many cans of it did you use? Just one?

  • @codxsum41xnfs For the grille and emblems I used almost 2

  • Fonz, question for you that Ive seen several people ask, havent got a good answer or found a solution yet. I tried painting a section in the middle of my hood with plasti dip like i did with my lower bumper and grille (those came out good) but my hood came out horrible! Being a larger section it wasnt the same texture all the way across and was very rough to the touch (more than was supposed to be). so i just peeled it right off after it dried. So, How can I paint a hood and make it look good?

  • @s2knott PlastiDipping large flat surfaces and getting even coverage is the hardest task to do. You have to keep your spray distance perfectly even the ENTIRE time, let the plastidip build up little by little, spray from 5-6 inches away, use LARGE sweeping motions that cover the whole area on each pass and don't overlap too much. Practice on a large piece of cardboard or something - but once you get it - you'll see what I mean. It's just a matter of being consistent and patient.

  • @DipYourCarcom does having that spray handle, or getting the liquid dip and spraying through your nozel, change the output at all? or is it basically the same as a spray can?

  • @s2knott The spray handle doesn't change the output - but it does give you a better sense of control. It distances your hand away from the bottle, so you actually see the entire stream coming out of the can - which helps you lay it down more accurately.

  • Very good tutorial.

  • also, you plastidipped your radiator..

  • @StoptheLibs if you read the comments and the info - they plastidipped a piece of cardboard behind the grille.. not the their radiator.

  • why dont the car manufacturers understand most everyone hates that fake assed plastic chrome??

  • where i can buy that blue thing @DipYourCarcom

  • Comment removed

  • should have just taken all that off and sprayed it, let it dry and put it back on.

  • nice house

  • how far away should you hold it?

  • @brittanystar199 4-5 inches

  • how long does it last, cuz i live where the is a lot of little rock that hit the frount of the car???

  • @longboardQuebec12 it holds up to road debris very well! no chipping unless extreme conditions are seen

  • @DipYourCarcom thats sick how about the cold, will it chip or somthin at lik -40C

  • Where do you get the black Plastic Dip from?

  • @Aero2121 From our website of course! We sell PlastiDip at the cheapest prices

  • @DipYourCarcom do you realize that while spraying your grill you also sprayed your radiator / condensor and decreased the spacing in the coil fins/ airflow. the fins are to fragile to attempt removal without further damage. Id like to play with some of this stuff but I thought you would like to know before recomending people spray in the manner shown

  • @jrod19993467g thanks for the comment - however if you click the "show more" tab for video info, it will show that we suggest getting access to the inside of the grille, protecting the insides with cardboard or paper. Have fun with the project :)

  • @DipYourCarcom or remove the grille!

  • @jrod19993467g I noticed this too. When I did my grill, I just removed it. Otherwise you could slip a newspaper behind the grill which would prevent overspray from damaging anything.

  • @Aero2121 Home Depot

  • If im going to wash my car scrub it with a sponge will it mess up the window trim??

  • @ThePolaris2 no sir! It will hold up just fine to a sponge

  • I I wanted to paint my brake calipers, could I use plastidip or would it be ruined by high heat? and if ruined, what could I use?

  • @thetravishardy Caliper paint - the calipers get too hot for PlastiDip

  • where is this video taken.which state?

  • @klitoni1 Florida

  • did you at all cover the radiator behind the grill? I would like to do my car w/out taking the bumper off but wasnt sure if you guys did that or not????

  • @julius350z Yes we usually remove the plastic shield under the hood that allows access for things like cardboard to be slipped down the front of the car, in between the grille and the radiator. However, many people spray the grille without protection behind it and try to keep the spray pattern facing downward - so that the overspray doesn't go straight through.

  • what kind of tape do you use just regular painting blue tape?

  • how many cans did you use?

  • @Phili89pp 2 cans

  • Engine compartment should not heat up above 275, so the plastidip should hold up. I just dipped my engine cover. I will let u know how it holds up.

  • where can you buy plastidip?

  • nice video man! did the exact same to my dub, and am wondering if you know whether or not red plasti dip would work under the hood, on battery and fuse coverings

  • @eljefemejor1 I don't think so - it's only good up to 312 degrees

  • how long does PlastiDip last?

  • @Djomla201 almost indefinitely. I've seen parts dipped for over 2 years and they look the same as they did the first week. Just keep it clean and don't let it get heavy damage.

  • does it look even on a large surface from a spray can ?

  • what about fender flares with a satin finish .. will it peel off ? like on gloss

  • @GrilledCheeseMouth yes, it will peel back off of a satin finished surface same as gloss

  • @DipYourCarcom thankyou

  • did you cover the back of the grill? so that the plasti dip wont go to your engine or radiator?

  • @crimsoninred on straight through grilles, yes, we go in and cover the radiator with newspaper. if the grille isn't open, you can spray on a downward angle, and the dip won't make it much further than the grille.

  • @DipYourCarcom thanks for the reply! maybe you can do a plasti dip video on a 2010 honda civic! because i am really planning to plasti dip my grill! i just want to see the steps and tips about it! please? :)

  • @DipYourCarcom one more question! is the result going to be different if i plan to do this on a chilly day? because right now its fall in canada, and the temps are 6-17degrees celsius.. so im concerned about the quality of it in "a bit cold" weather

  • @crimsoninred no, the result will be fine. the only temperature changes that affect the plastidip are high levels of humidity. the cold will work just fine.

  • @josephfoster30 of course you can dip your wheels red!

  • Can I paint my rims red?

  • thanks. this was very helpful

  • If I was going to spray my grill on my new b8 s4 do I need to do anything to protect my radiator?

  • @hbm5006 you don't have to - just keep the spray and a downward angle so you don't spray directly into the radiator. however, with the s4, just pop the hood, remove the 4 tx screws and the plastic piece over the grille, and slip some newspaper down the front so you can spray without any worries. have fun!

  • are u using regular painters tape

  • @mrtolduso yes, regular blue painters tape works great.
