@6project6nightmare6 The mid cut pulls out of the mix the mids so it didn't make it brighter, but easier to play because it tends to liquify the licks instead of the hard-to-play riffing when have the mids in the mix....For the Herbert I prefer it with very low mid cut %
@dusted04 Me too. I didn't like the VH4 too much. The Pros on the Herbert is that is a killer sounding amp, very easy to dial, but in the other hand it's not as organic sounding as Mesa or VHT for example. Also, the people I know that own one, use the Mid Cut section which hiddes you the guitar on a mix. It's a very powerlfull tool, but if you abuse you can be out of the mix easily, because this amp delivers a HUGE bass response, which can be almost pissed off by a dominant bass player
@dusted04 I'm pretty sure something was wrong in your set up, then, because he VH4 is one of the more 'organic' high end amps out there. JCM800 on crack is an apt description.
Thanks for the great insight!

sounds really good! The low end is very unique... tight, but gargantuan! not exactly my personal cup o tea, but then again neither are rectifiers O_o

Best amp I ever had. Very versatile - the midcut make it's possible. Killer tones and brutal rough power. Play it with a 4x12" 1960 Marshall cabinet.

Question: why EL34s instead of 6L6s?
gelliott3 3 months ago
@gelliott3 Because the amp was bought loaded with them...and it sounds good!

@xykhron very true but you need a decent amount of mids to cut through the mix in a band

A mesa 4x12, Caparison with BKPs tuned to drop C and a Diezel? You my friend are metal. haha

You should try the Hagen.
I've tested all high end Diezels a few weeks ago and it was the bomb. :D
Usercool 5 months ago
@Usercool The Hagen is the unique Diezel I haven't tested yet, but it seems to sound huge!

Those amps are just monumental! I'd sell myself for scientific experiments to afford one though!
