@XQriousX Pretty much anything getting around 250 BPM is going to need to be triggered, but quess what that means? You have to be right on point or everyone will hear it. Criticism of triggers is as weak as this video.
@jeppekibsgaard what are you talking about? chuck norris could do this without even touching a drumset. He could do it with a triangle and make it sound better.
@TheJarhead133 By calling it metal drumming, you contradict your first statement. @MaggotJoko Search for "Brutal Death Drummer", the title of his other vid and enjoy eating your own words...It's 10 times better than this...and he plays an acoustic set in his band; Henker.
i have 2 Pearl Eliminator single mallet pedals. i have a dbl bass Ludwig kit & triggers for the kicks. i use the heel-toe technique with those pedals & i get amazing results. i've been drilling the technique for 3 yrs now, & only recently got the drum module & triggers. In metal, double bass drumming needs very little dynamics. Triggers ENSURE that every hit is audible & consistent, which is necessary in loud music like DM. This technology rises to the occasion. Quit crying.
why are people AGAINST the usage of this pedal? if you think it sucks just don't listen to it... i love it when people say this is cheating... its just as much cheating as driving to work, all you motherfuckers take a bus or drive a car to work everyday but no one calls you cheaters for not walking. music tends to evolve and this is just an example of how music can evolve speed wise. i think it would be cheating if he used it to play at easy speeds, like 16th notes or something.
Yeah man, there's a heel pad & a toe pad, each with a separate linkage to the beaters (each pedal has 2 mallets). Pretty damn ingenious design! i read several years ago (back in about 2000) that Matt McDonough from Mudvayne was working with a pedal company to develop a heel-toe pedal... for all i know, those Sonor Giant Step twin effect pedals were the result. i never heard anything else about it til i ran into this Quadruple Blasting vid about 3 yrs ago. 32nd & 64th notes!\m/O_o \m/
I don't understand metal any more I liked it back when they only used one, I liked it more when they started double bass, and now 4, it's so useless, it's worse then techno. Why don't you try to play it how you feel instead of playing for speed, make it sound good with the guitars, this blows.
@fuknames2123 you do understand this video was meant for joke right? aha . it was a response to Rock band quadruple Blasting expert +++++FC . but if you want to see a great drummer, type in the band Henker ( as he said ) and you'll be amazed with the speed and band when you hear them. ( most likely. )
Dude this video was uploaded in 2007, WAY before Rock Band had it; in fact, Rock Band used the audio from this video for the game. DUH. Dude you can't be that dense- no offense! This guy, Morgan Henker, is the originator of the whole drum track.
@jackass534 Thank you! I think the quadruple just takes away the complexity that is metal drumming. Sure, you can play fast, but honestly, I think it (being a piece of "music") should have some sort of rhythmic feel to it. It's not always about playing as fast as possible. Plus this is just cheating.
@mysterymanx07 cheating? what does that mean? do you mean that a "true" drummer should be able to reach those speeds using a double bass? or that this is a forbidden bass drumming speed? in terms of feel this is just a joke video, you want to see speed and rythmic feel? check out a song by a band called henker (this drummer's band) a song called bloody sword, its a perfect mixture of brutal speed and rythmic feel.... you CAN have a nice musical feel with speed
a fraction of movement creates a bass strike noise, i mean triggers are bullshit but this is just retarted, im sure scremo emo fucktard modern grindcore kid bands use the shit out of this
very light spring setting, and beaters set close to the pad, means you dont have to hit very hard at all. and beacause its an electric kit the sound is like its being stomped on not tickled. sounds cool but try doing it on a propper skin on an un-amped bass drum. you wont really even hear a noise. dam good timing though
@TheWALOS triggers make it possible to have ONE sound on a recording despite the fact how hard you hit the drum, I can't believe that his doublebass-technique would be this consistent on an acoustic set..
but you're right: I'm going to check out his band ;)
I just said he could do it, I never said it would sound good. It would sound pretty muddled and quiet on an acoustic kit without triggers. But, on the same token, an electric guitar wouldn't sound that good without an amp, no?
E-Set compared to Acoustic Set = E-Guitar compared to Acoustic Guitar
not being able to play this on an acoustic set doesn't make him able to "do it" in my opinion. Triggering is kind of "cheating" because being able to play dynamically is a huge part of drumming..
I listened to his band: all of his recordings (including live) are on triggered sets..
but you're right: it IS impressive, even if its triggered!
It's not cheating, there's just no other way to achieve this sound. Like I said before, there's no other way to achieve a distorted guitar without using an amp. Different tools for different tasks, dude. I'm perfectly comfortable comparing this to a guitar. An acoustic kit is unplugged, and you cannot make this sound on it while it is, just as you cannot make a variety of sounds on a guitar that isn't plugged in either. Both instruments use amps to make them sound a certain way.
with a well tuned, well crafted acoustic set you can reach a much nicer doublebass sound IF you can play dynamically, you'll just not be able to reach this kind of speed so you use artificial help to reach something you can't within your physical boundaries
@TheWALOS I can reach the same strumming speed on an acoustic guitar as I can on an electric guitar, it sounds the same, on the electric guitar I just NEED the amplification to have ANY sound, I don't have a device that makes sure my strumming SOUNDS accurate even though it isn't
@TheWALOS they make you sound more accurate because they make sure that each hit sounds exactly like any other hit on the bassdrum: you don't have to worry about dynamic playing just on speed and accuracy.
granted: he does a great job at that but still, this is not dynamic playing and I think he couldn't do it on an acoustic set ;)
He could do the same motion on an acoustic set, for sure. It would just sound like garbage. So please, tell me how he would even be able to make it sound like it does in the video without using triggers. It's not cheating when there's actually no other way to meet the end he wants to meet in order to express himself creatively.
I can't believe there are so many dislikes on this video, any open minded person can tell that this guy has a lot of talent whether you like metal or not.
Sound funny,I don´t think it´s cheating, but would like to hear if he could do that on a acoustic kit with quadruple pedals. Know they excist, don´t know the brand though.

its electronic cheating but very inventive at the same time. I like it and I wish I had a set like that to play around with.

Sound funny,I don´t think it´s cheating, but would like to hear if he could do that on a acoustic kit with quadruple pedals. Know they excist, don´t know the brand though.
