Nah, it's very useful. Doesn't matter anymore though, the gun has been converted to an M1 Garand. We now have a real-steel Garand along with the electric airsoft Garand.

Effective range of an M4/M16 type rifle shooting 380-400 fps is anywhere between 40-60 yards depending on the craftsmanship of the gun itself. I have an M4 that makes a 4-inch group @ 40 yards shooting @ 420 fps.

Sorry, you're wrong. I have been airsoftin for some time, and I admit that some shots hurt. All depends on where you get hit. For example, a shot in the lip hurts...badly. I have seen teeth get knocked out, so, I wear a mouthpiece. I've been hit in the back and had a line of welts for a few days... On the other hand, I've also had shots I hardly felt. But, to say it doesn't hurt at all, and to call others pussys is just showing us that you are immature.

And sure, the police generally view them as toys, but, these 'toys' can still knock out a tooth or an eye with ease. So I'd use the word 'toy' lightly. A non-lethal rifle makes more sense, because to me, when I think of a toy, I think of a harmless device that a child can play with. Do you consider a loaded airsoft gun harmless to a child?

I agree 100% with you about our 2nd ammendment in jeopordy. If that bitch gets into office, you can expect to see a crack down on firearms. Usually all of the kids who play airsoft get real defensive about the legitimacy of what they are doing which is understandable, i consider it as much of a sport as paintball which i love and still play as often as i can.They usually also promote incredibly poor safety habits ( you know what i mean) that carry over to when they somehow get their hands on real firearms, I have seen it so many times, they figure if i can handle the airsoft version, i can handle the real thing.

I agree with the bad safety practice. However, that is why kids need to be taught how to handle a gun, real or fake. If you gain bad habbits with an airsoft gun, you will likely carry the same habbits into real firearms.

As for the toy factor... I have seen a few people have their teeth knocked out with good quality (not your walmart brand) airsoft guns. Based on that alone, these are not toys to me. They are not lethal, but are dangerous to an extent. (Which is why I wear a mouthpiece)

I have been hit with some pretty high powered ones, my friends were big into it back in the day, it stung, especially wearing a t shirt or less ( always eye protection though), but when you train with real weapons all the time, M14's, M16A2's. M249, M240 ect, i have even done training with M1A1 Abrams main Battle tanks, 120mm smoothbore,but after that these seem more or less like toys, not knocking the sport,

Even though they are toys practicing good safety is not a bad idea. I have also done basic and intermediate combat training for U.S Navy marine core MP5 Navy, Car-12, AK-47, Mk 23, glock 18 and glock 22, M4A1 carbine as well as countless others. After my duty i still play airsoft and they are just toys. they dont hurt but always show respect toward a firearm real or fake.
