Therefore in order to understand and transfer the interstitial world into the "normal" world is to create a new language designed for the interstitial reality. This new language may involve new ways to express it (not just literal linguistics) and thus a new art form is created.
It's always difficult to put into words what one experiences in an interstitial state, since the words we use in normal waking reality can only really describe the reality it is spoken with. Language itself is an art, because our language isn't literally reality but an abstraction of reality.
I would like to suggest that although the interstitial state may be one in which true creativity may freely and spontaneously occur, in itself the interstitial state is not yet 'art' - or one could say whatever creativity may be occurring in such a state is beyond formulation/ communication/ expression.
I guess I am saying that interstitial, or any other state allowing creativity, is like conception - it is tangible, a true sensation and yet it is still also a dream ... but art, like breath, does also not really begin until birth ... when the dreamt is finally distinct from the dreamer..... even if they are still bound together...
There are many 'artists' who know only about, or care only to CONSTRUCT, or perhaps you could say ADOPT .. from their minds ..... or from other people's minds .... or even from other people's art .. or from far more cynical places .... in all case one must always feel duty to CALL this art and regard it as such!
But CREATION of any kind is always art no matter what! - that is how you know .... even if it is never seen, never known by anyone else ..... it is art!
I celebrate anyone who seeks to truly create, anyone who loves to stand aside to let the mystery in, like opening a window to the unknown to see what blows in on the wind...
But for me, and at the moment at least, I believe more and more these days it must not stop there if it is to be communicated / exhibited as art. It must be made separate and distinct - perhaps even to the point of being an entirely different manifestation altogether.
... And a manifestation perhaps closer (although not in truth) to the more concrete and constructed forms of art. This can be painful, difficult and hard work. But just as a baby or child is no longer the sensation of pregnancy then art, in this sense at least, must no longer be the feeling of creation, or the place or state where that creation occurred, it must have progressed and transformed.
In my own work I used to try and keep any creativity as close to its purest, most immediate state - communicating, I hoped, that sensation of instantaneous creation ... yet this proved to be unsatisfactory to me as it was never really possible to do so and at the same time it was preventing me from communicating anything coherent to others and expressing anything, in my opinion, worthwhile!
I am a 'dreamer' .... and I love to 'dream' ... and in my dreams I am receptive to all sorts of things .... but how to allow my dreams to become art that could be communicated? These days starting from the abstract I now AIM for the concrete. I used to abhor the idea of that. But now I love that I can dream my art first and know it in this state - and I love how differently it may be turn out (and be interpreted by others) when it is manifested in its more concrete exhibitable state.
I must look at your site more as it seems to have changed since I last saw it - I am a big fan of yours anyway :) I think I believe that you are presenting a celebration of interstitial and its creational possibilities ......
..... I am not sure if I am hinting, in addition to just writing all this for no particular reason as well, that I would love to see your interstitially created art manifested in a more concrete exhibitable state too .... because I love this video too much just as it is .. and hearing it again and again as I refresh each time to post a comment is putting me into an interstitial state - your voice is a dreamer's voice, I just realized ... yes very much so ... - interstitial love :)

Hi Sarah,
Words came out after watching - here they are:
I would like to suggest that although the interstitial state may be one in which true creativity may freely and spontaneously occur, in itself the interstitial state is not yet 'art' - or one could say whatever creativity may be occurring in such a state is beyond formulation/ communication/ expression.
