My late father was stationed in the Shetland Isles during WW2 and he attended a dance there with a local young lady. They were having a great time dancing to this piece until one of the organizers stopped them and asked my Dad to leave as when they were jitterbugging the folks that were watching got a flash of the young ladies stocking tops. :)
My Dad also served in WWII in the Navy as a radar man aboard ship. He also didn't speak much about his time served, I only knew 2 ships were sunk from under him. My Mom worked in a war time factory in Pgh,PA. Our parents truly were the greatest generation & I fear we r the last remnants of the kind of people this country produced since the beginning. I love Big Band Music, thanks 4 posting the great pics with this superb tune. I so wish I could have lived back then. Salute 2 yr Dad!!!
@4205lr; I understand what your saying, but it's Glenn Miller's Music so it's a part of him no matter whom is playing so it lives and he lives on as long as we play it in rememberance. I look back as a kid to a time when this music was played over the speakers at the drive-in-movies we went to. I can just see my Dad dancing his way back to the car with the pop-corn & drinks in hand boy he sure could jump-n-jive.
I'm glad you picked our little slide show video to show your music class. We here at "Bearly Room To Move Studios" used photo take by Big Frankie C-eeee father the veteran in the opening. Other photo's were of the friend's he had made with other duce-and-a-half drivers, MP's, motor-pool's & aircraft mechanic that cept-em Rolling & Flying in WW-2. Through thoes times Hollywood crossed John's path people like "Stanley Clement & Betty Grable" pictured.
Thank you for making this vid, great pictures, text and sound :)

@tinkerbruzer Cool post! Big Band Music is the fore runner of R&R, without it there wouldn't have been any 50s R&R. What a horrible thought!!!!!
