This song has one of those really special places in the South African psyche, I grew up on the farms in the rural communities of South Africa, I remember this song with such ...well, reverence and I am so unbelievably touched that you deliver such a soul stirring rendition of this song, you've brought tears to my eye's!
Difícil não se emocionar ao ouvir sua interpretação!
Conheci este tema a anos atrás e desde então venho coletando canções africanas que toque sentimentos tão puros quanto os que SENZENINA, nos permite. Sei o significado... sou afro-descendente e apaixonado pela música negra!
So moving - its beautiful - can you image when it was sung by the blacks @ gatherings what would happen when police came along to disperse the crowds - hell broke loose.
Thank you very much for your words, I´m happy that you like this rendition of this song, I really sing it with all my love and respect, regards from Argentina, Diana
An evocative rendition of an evocative song. Diana has captured the very essence of the song and its heartfelt message - her voice is such that to hear her you indeed would think she was a native singer from SA. I dont know how she feels about this track but one cannot help but assume that she must be very proud.
Thank you very, very much for such beautifull words, It´s very kind of you for this comment, I´m from Argentina and I`ve never been in South Africa, but this song has touched deep in my heart, I love it , I´m glad to know you like it as well, regards from Argentina, Diana
I too would have thought this was the soulful voice of a black woman. I lived in central Africa for 17 years - loved it - and loved the people. I miss it - and this song that I know so well, always makes me weep. This is a different, though beautiful rendition. Thank you for sharing.
Holy cow.....very beautiful rendition of the song. And if I hadn't clicked on this link, I would have thought the singer (heard in another video) was a black woman!
Seriously though....it's the emotion that the song is sung with that counts not the colour of the vocalists skin.
Very beautiful and emotional - gave me goose bumps!

thank you very much for your kind comment, I´m Diana, the voclist of the song, I admire black singers very much, like Ella, Dinah, Aretha , Louis Amstrong, BB King, and others , admire Nelson Mandela, this song is very special for me because of the feeling of its lyric, I never been in Africa, I hope someday I could go there, regards from Argentina, Diana
@litiajarrod This is a protest song and it is traditionally sung at funerals. It was important during the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa. Senzenina means “What have we done” with the implication “what did we do to deserve this?” (Also spelled “senzeni na”.)
@litiajarrod Senzenina (Zulu/Xhosa) Senzenina Sono sethu ubumnyama Sono sethu yinyaniso Sibulawayo Mayibuye i Africa. What Have We Done? (English Translation) What have we done? Our sin is that we are black Our sin is the truth They are killing us Let Africa return.
@litiajarrod .......Its a question put forward to the apartheid regieme , Senzeni na - means What have we done ? To be mis treated in such a brutal manner !
Hi!! thank you for your comment on Senzenina!! I couldn´t understand the meaning of your words exactly! coud you be so kind to explan them? Regards from Argentina, Diana, I´m the white lady
@litiajarrod ..........South Africa is now a rainbow nation , Where one is not judged on the colour of their skin.So i really dont think there's anything wrong with Diana singing this song. She has sung it with so much passion and love and pain .Better than people in SA. So let her be !
we have used this tune as our school song for battles and this version makes the heart stronger.. thank you. God bless you.. sa paulo college, ponsonby, new zealand.
I came across your song looking for Albert Nyathi's version (he is a poet from Zimbabwe and the girl voice is Prudence Katomeni, another Afro Jazz when she was only a teenager). What a wonderfull version It is a powerful song and you did it justice. A true citizen of the world.
I've always loved this song...heck I love all of those from the Power of One, but this one was always especially moving due to the point in the movie...and even more so now that I can hear the meanings.
WOW!! Profoundly moving! I echo all the sentiments i.r.o how it touches the soul. I also agree with kootenaylad. Africa is a mother. She also "gave birth" to me. This song wraps around me, and comforts me, like her arms would. Thank you.
Nicely done. Africa is not a place... it is our mother. This sensitive song... that is to say the way you delivered this song gives credence to the plight of the peoples of Africa. I've wanted to do this song myself and just might now that I've heard your renditions. Beautiful!
I live in South Africa, and as a white girl growing up in a zulu village, this song has always resounded through my soul, and Madiba is enlightened being of such compassion... all could learn from him. Thank you for such a moving rendition of this song XX
thank you very much to say such beautifull words and to share such deep feellings,I´ve never been in Africa, I´d love to!! But love and compassion are universal feellings,
The way you sing this song is just riviting, cut's right through the soul. I guess im finally realizing that the fukd up shit that i do is nothing compare to what other's are facing right now on the other side of the world. Ur voice is such a breath of air. Thanks
Thank you very, very much for your beautifull words! It´s an honour for me to read such opinion! Thank you for listening to my music and for being so interested, regards, Diana
I come from South Africa...it is very touching to hear you sing this. I have heard many church choirs sing this song, but never with the heart, emotion and sorrow that is in the words.

Wow.
I grew up in Africa as a child and sang this song in Church.
Never in my life would I have Imagined that someone from Argentina could pull off such a masterful rendition of a powerful song song like this.
All I can say is well done to the person who sang this song.
As an African person myself,I'm touched by her passion.
God bless you Diana.
