  • Instructor Hait and Mestre Eberson. Capoeira. FIYA. Nuff said.

  • then you see that capoeira is NOT a Dance :)

  • vixi, ai tem qualidade, muito bom....

  • @timafi

If you want to learn....CAPOEIRA HAS NO AGE (Capoeira nao tem idade). We have someone 70 years old training. Take care of your health first then get yourself into a capoeira school. Life is short...take advantage before you leave this earth.

  • whoa! This is a great clip

    all motion

    Great capoeirista

  • Kick is a kick.... And Capoeira have the best and danger kicks.

  • Capoeira e fodaaaaaaaa

  • For the first time I see capoeira more like fighting style and not the dance-fight style. I'm not very interested in it but all I've seen till know it was more like dancing and rather poor quality. But this clip is awesome. You can see from the begining those kicks like from Street Fighter or other game. Very impressive!

  • Capoeira is the closest I would want to get to XMA... lol.

At least you could use most of Capoeira moves in a real fight... ;)

  • Eberson e o cara, joga demais e incrivel

  • got more aggressive towards the end lo

  • Why do people do this? What's the point?

  • @stevenpduck why are you so retarded to ask such a question?

they we do it bcuz we like it, capoeira is a game, a life style, just like skateboarding or everyother sport.

and ignorants like you are always so retarded and be comparing capoeira with other stupid fights

  • I didn't know it was a game. I wasn't sure what it was, because I have never seen it. That's why I was asking you piece of trailer trash.

  • WOW!! That was exciting! Crazy Energy!

  • Can someone explain to me the purpose of this practice/demonstration? Is the objective to perform these moves without hitting your partner?

  • yes when u are "playing" in the roda u basically practice the skills of evading ur opponents moves...its fun lol

  • exactly, its the game, its much more than just hitting and evading, its learning through the game and to dialogue with the oponent.

  • It depends, but usually you are supposed to "mark" your hits, without hitting or with just a slight touch (depends on the pace/fighters etc). The purpose is usually to mislead and surprise your opponent. A kind of quick chess game :].

However, when you practice at full speed you obviously can't hit your partner so then it looks more like a show.

That's theory, in real life many various things happen :]

  • There is a reason for that:In Brazil, during the colonial period, the europeans did not allow the africans slaves to practice any martial art and it was the only way the africans had to defend themselves,so they came up with this fight and intending to keep it a secret, they pretended it was a dance, so they could practice everywhere. They practiced the movements and practiced their precision as they would never be able to. And the poor europeans thought it was only a dance..

  • main purpose of jogo de capoeira is to play using your moves, trying to catch, block, kick unprepared opponent, contact is not necessary but it's not banned ;)

  • o m g

  • pota que pariu!! O_O

    esses caras jogam dimaaaais.

  • Axé Abadá! Axé Eberson! Axé Camisa!

    Axé Capoeira!

  • mto axe, parabens!

  • porra o cara joga pra caraio vei lol

  • nice show

  • nice show

  • nice show

  • if you do tae kwon do and capoeria u kicks can be higher, so in my opinion it would be good for you (:

  • Why do some of you everytime think that you have to hit someone to fight him? And why do you think its the most important thing to know who wins?

Maybe some of the Capoeristas just want to have fun while they fight and acrobatics make them have fun. Thats the reason why Capoeira do not really have 'rules' as they are mostly excist in all the other Sports, because it should be a free sport where people can feel free to do new things or not just how everybody wants to.

    Sorry for my crappy english.

  • or that is just show capoeira >.>

and to speak teh rules capoeira got rules

ALOT...well they are more like rituals

  • TKD and Cap are like two completely different styles to me because TKD is more rigid and Cap is very loose.

  • That was a lot of fun. Those guys are in shape.

  • definetely! in good shape)

  • Capoeira Regional... these days it seems to be more about showing off ones own acrobatics than showing your martial ability. Most people in this were just showing off, but I take my hat off to the people in this video that actually followed Mestre Bimbas teachings and the rule that acrobatics should only be done when entering the roda. After your feet touch the ground that should be it for tricks.

  • I agree. There are so many powerful kicks, elbows, headbutts and crazy takedowns in capoeira, but all I ever see are acrobatics. More Martial and less Art would be nice.

  • Better look other videos of ABADA than talk. Eberson can do acrobatics easily and uses it. But look on a speed of his kicks! It is amazing.

When I see old videos of Capoeira it makes me lough. That was really not for fight.

  • Sobekkha, The amount of technique and skill in this video beyond floreios proves that you have no idea what you are talking about. That these capoeiristas can integrate acrobatic movements in so seamlessly with their already advanced game is spectacular.

This video show some awesome Capoeira from all practicioners, and all you can do is denigrate them. Yeah- you suck.

  • iceddante,

How much does capoeira have to change before it stops being capoeira. Many people take certain aspects of it that they like and they leave the rest out. Capoeira is more than looks, but when people choose to specialise in the visual, it starts to augment its nature and lose it's practicality. I love capoeira as I have trained in it for a long time, but I hate this western mentality that acrobatics make capoeira better.

Capoeira in the past was more than an art, it was a way of life.

  • Fucking purists! Stop taking yourself so seriously and just enjoy the game!

  • Mastabiff I'm not a purist and I know that there are many different styles of capoeira, but when people start changing capoeira for no real reason is when I wonder if you can still call it capoeira. Western people think that the more pretty capoeira is the better. Floreios in capoeira are meant to deceive your opponent and show skill, but random flips aren't practical.

Everybody has a different idea of what capoeira is and I just have mine, its a shame you can't respect other people's opinions.

  • Whoa, that was a slick move. You're the only one here who needs a lesson in tolerance: I have no problem with your own conception of capoeira, but everyone has their own interpretation and will express themselves differently. The only people who can rightfully regulate the play style are individuals and teachers of that particular group. If you don't like the style, don't play with them.

  • And before you respond again with vague conceptions of what capoeira is "really" about, stop and think about the conservative line of thought you're following -- capoeira was once good, but is being degraded by change.

Change can be a really great thing. It allows people to make a deeper connection with capoeira and not be confined by dogmas. Every group plays differently and has their own culture -- this is a good thing, even if you only want to spread your own version. It exposes more people

  • And they will decide for themselves. Choice is good for capoeira and good for people.

  • Mastabiff,

If I came across as condescending I apologise. I'm just afraid that people are so egocentric that they all want to put their own stamp on capoeira at the expense of history and tradition. As a capoeirista I appreciate that change is a part of life, and so is a part of capoeira, but sometimes it annoys me when people think capoeira is just about doing flips and not about interaction.

As you said it's down to the style people do and their own preferences, so variety is a good thing.

  • No worries man. I'm glad that I managed to express myself in way that you could agree with -- it's a rare thing, particularly in this medium.

I think that incorporating floreios into a good, engaging game takes a lot of skill. I respect players a lot when they can do it. At the same time, I like the movements for their own sake, and think that the "practical" aspect of capoeira is a bit contrived. I think it is best concieved as a game. The evidence of its use in slave revolts is pretty spotty

  • wheres the original edit of this???

  • Dam that's amazing.

  • 100% BRASIL!!!

  • o baixinho é o Eberson! from Brasília ;)

  • Who was he playing in that first clip? Sabiá?

  • I think it's Sabiá.

  • Great sportmanship!

  • BEST JOGO ever!

  • holy shit im not even one eight as good as these guys

  • jajajaj arcanjo

Eberson lives in Taguatinga, a city near Brasília, the capital of Brazil. He was part of Ave Branca group and then moved to Abadá. I've seen some of his games in the roda in theCity Park. He is the fastest capoeirista I've ever seen.

  • Parabens Capoeira e Parabens eBERSON

  • ill do a tony jaa on em

  • I heard from a guy who supposedly knows the guy tony jaa fought in the protector and he says that that guy is all tricks and no real fighting ...And for everybody who dosn't know what a real one looks like, check out Marcus Venicio on you tube, or try and get some video shot in a Favela durring a roda there. The capoeira practiced in the favelas in not for the faint of heart and don't expect to see a whole lot of video game style breakdance garbage from those guys either.

  • so what exactly are they doing? a demo or something? half thier moves arnt comeing close to hitting some explain this to me please. oh and if ur wondering i take tae kwon do. and this is some awsome stuff.

  • Capoeira is not fighting style as you might think it as taek won doka. It's more like dance and "fighting" in cool looking way thank actually really attempt to other player down. That's why you can see there lot's of not nessesary movements. When people are practising, they are in circle, as you can see, and pair is middle "fighting". Music and rhytm is very big part of game. Feel free to ask more, I'll try explain things up with my crappy english. :)

  • so then how do you know who wins? if they dont actually hit each other? and, not putting them down, but do you efecctivly train when who practice not hitting the other person? or is not hitting them the training by showing how much control you have?

  • FACT: Capoeira can effectively be used in a fight.

FACT: Most capoeira schools in the U.S. do NOT teach the fighting aspect of it. They instead sell you some poorly aranged Bataria and sexy-video game-breakdancin' garbage.

FACT: In order to use capoeira in a REAL fight, it is the responsibility of the person trying to use it to first understand that anything can happen in a fight. Showboating is silly, fair play dosn't exist, and if he couldn't fight to begin with, he shouldn't be there!

  • I was answering for question what is happening in this video. Capoeira can also be used for real fighting, as it's history is telling. "Secret way of slaves." Thanks for bringing other side and facts for this chatting.

  • Thank you for your comments. I also get annoyed by how watered down everything becomes when the united states assimilates it. I think people deserve to know whats truly out there, thank you for speaking up for that.

  • Maybe you can go wikipedia to search more about capoeira's history and how is it become a game and why are they playing in this way(roda) :D Have fun reading! PEACE~

  • well, they are just playing...However, there are games played where contact is made and there is not as much acrobatic stuff done. It really depends on the game and the people playing, if i take down the other person then it will become a take down game and if i kick them they will start to kick me back. There are many take downs and stuff like that, but you only see them if they offend the other person in the roda(the circle)

  • LOL it never gets old seeing people screaming "KICK HIS ASS !!!" while watching a Roda

  • I like to yell that when I see people hugging.

  • parabens Eberson vc é otimo!!!

  • the object of capoeira is not a mere win.. but a win with grace and style. If you're looking for "pounding", i suggest you look up a UFC fight.

  • tesaaaaao pra caraaaho xD

    nice video

  • there good.. but nothing like the brazillians :P

  • ;ooo <333

  • i know eberson, he lives in my street :)

  • ppl i know from my school see me do this but they dont care b/c they know they cant do it so yeah it gets boring.

  • fuckin BADASS!!

  • brought to u by the same masters who created brazilian jiu-jitsu. faisca siempre!

  • jogo supreme!

  • i love i gat to start doing capo again

  • one of the fastest most intense rodas i've ever seen

  • OMG that would give the blisters blisters blisters on my feet lol

  • Eberson is the man.

  • nice muvie :D AXE!!

  • Tremendous achievement of human ability.

  • that last roda was nutty!!!!! and DAMN!
