  • Hello, I have a question about Cerobi Steppe ones. I have no problem getting the Ribbon, I turn off my ps2, and start trying to do the 5 combo hits. Great so far, but when im trying to get the Castellanos and Venetia Shield, no matter how many times i turn off and on my PS2, when i load the game in Jouerney Rest and move to Crossfield it is the same pattern of chest, Ribbon one, one near the rock in next to you and etc. So how can i make those other chest spawns without zoning or soft resseting?

  • @TheNovaPulse They should be different each time. Although we talk about the rng list, there is more than one list so you should get varied patterns when you start. If you're getting the same pattern each time then I really don't know what is happening. Try hitting yourself once before crossing the zone line into Crossfield. That should change the rng pattern for you before the chest locations are set.

  • Love the guide, but got a ?

You noted the RNG may be affected by.moving to another zone in the dos and donts, but in the walk-through you mention nothing in regards to accounting for that. Am I describing it accurately?

Are zones something I need to worry about at all?

  • @Tidlface The RNG will move two points when you cross a zone line if the chests are being set at the same time. This may change in FFXII compared to the IZJS version simply because chests are reset every time you cross a zone line in IZJS whereas in FFXII it takes a movement of three zones to reset chests. However, crossing a zone line will move the RNG at least one point even if the chests are not being reset.

  • Ok, 1 question, how did you know exactly when you were getting a 5-hit combo because I saw you turned your gambits off right before it happened.

  • you are amazing

  • i dont understand how u came about with this equation of hits and such. is there a book or something?

  • @didthatreallyjust No, it isn't a book, it's called my brain. I notice patterns quite easily when playing a game and when I see something unusual I try to do it again. Once, after getting two rare items I was making my way back to Balfonheim when my team (just Balthier and Fran) got hit by thundara from a shield wyrm. I used niho-PD on it and then opened a chest close by and got another rare item. This is how I found out how to get the third item.

  • Hello! I've been reading your guide, and I can't wait to try it out. However, I had a quick question. If we're trying to get on the correct pattern to get the 5-hit combo, why can't I just normally fight my way to wherever the chest is? Why do I need to Phoenix Down enemies or use the Immobilize glitch, etc, if I'm just going to find out what RNG pattern I'm in and manipulate it to get into the 5-combo pattern? Thanks!

  • @ChrisFFXI All attacks will move the rng so if you fight your way there you won't know where you are with the total hits. Immobilise glitch and Niho PD doesn't affect the RNG.

  • @ChrisFFXI Because you start from when you load your PS2, not from when you choose.

  • actually, i cant get the third item even when i unequip diamond armlet...

  • ok. i got your method to work consistently. However. You need to unequip diamond armlet when you use thundara because d a in the this game version is immune to thunder. ty

  • I can get the rare item then. But only if the person with the Diamond armlet is the one who opens it. I haven't figured out how get consecutive items though.

  • Hi, Yeah I am using the emulator, english patch version of the game.

I have Vaan hitting himself and Penelo using cure. Basch with the diamond armlet.

I found an interesting consistent pattern

    41 hits (3 hit combo) -> 3 cures -> 17 hits (2 hit combo) - followed by a potion -> 5 cures -> 28 hits ( 5 hit combo)

I used potion to stop the gambit from hitting again and i found that it does affect the chain. Without the potion stop I get a 3 hit combo around 27 hits.

  • @luf4rall this only works at Cerobi Steppe/ Crossfield

  • Thanks! Really useful guide. I hope that this works. I may get it in few tries probably, going to fail few first time xD

  • So i got 3 hits at 41 ->3 cures-> 2 hits at 50 something-> 5 cures -> 5 hits twenty or so hits later. But i'm still not getting items...

  • @luf4rall Three questions:

    1. Are you forgetting to equip the diamond armlet?

    2. Are you playing on a ps3 or using an emulator?

    3. Do any of your active party have regen (either the buff or a piece of equipment which has regen on it)?

If you answer yes to any of those three questions, you will struggle to get the item. Question 1 and 3 are easily remedied but you're in trouble if you answered yes to question 2.

  • Ive restarted a few times and the first combo i get is 3 hits at 41. what do i do then

  • Im playing the international version and my vaan doesnt have cure. Can I have someone else cure him after the combo punches and then continue on?

  • @luf4rall

No, because cure in the International game is AOE; you'll move the rng too far. However, what you can do is put Vaan away, bring out the character with cure, let them use it on themself, and then put them away and bring Vaan back. Switching characters in and out like that doesn't affect the rng.

  • @FF12GM what does aoe mean

  • @FF12GM nvm got it.

  • i think i got another pointer to work in. at 18 i got 2 hit combo then i casted cure like you recommended, 3 hits later at 21 got a 3 hit combo though it was a no brainer so i continued till a 2 hit combo at 58 after that i got nothing.

  • Hi, thanks for posting this guide. It was fun trying it out. The first time, I got my 5-hit combo, then killed a wolf and bird with my Nihaopaloa character. On the second, that character levelled up. No damage was given or recieved, but it seemed to be enough to throw off the RNG. I tried it again and got the triple-rare item trick to work, though.

  • Hey I read you're guide and you said its not guaranteed to work in izjs because of zoning for chest spawns, but it would work if you find the chest the 1st time right? Also I've seen on some forums that it might not work in the english patch.. Know anything about that?

  • @leviandurai1232

Chest spawns and different item percentages make it harder. If rare item is less than 10%, the second chest will only give up gil...99 I think.

As for the patched version, who knows? I've never used the patch but no one has ever said it doesn't work.

  • @FF12GM Ok thanks, I don't really need 3 guaranteed anyways, 1 would be plenty. Another question but about the seitengrate.. I know the method you do for the ps2, listening to the clicks and so on, do you know if there's a way to do it with the emulator? For regular chests I usually dont use the RNG, I'll just save state and cast cure if its not the item I want, but this doesn't work here

  • @leviandurai1232

Sorry, no idea concerning emulators. Don't use them.

  • Can this be done in the Henne Mines after getting the Zodiac Spear?

  • @Magerage20

    I don't see why not.

  • Thanks, FF12GM

3 Black Magic spells thrashes me pretty good. So it is good to know you can use Hi and X Potions without affecting the RNG. Or change to Rubber Suit

I was thinking about having the Nihopaloa effect on you for real. So, if a doctor takes your temperature, it gives you a temperature, take an aspirin, get a headache....but on the other hand, you would be gain immunity from drinking poison

There is a lot of scope for this sort of speculation. Diamond Armlet + snack vending machine...

  • OH MY GOD! you are THE BEST!!! now I can get ribbon early on in the game.. mwahahahahaha!!!

  • @FF12GM : i have some question that i'm confused with this RNG method...

this happen in cerobi steppe areas

    1. i use niho +phoenix to clear the enemy, but everytime the enemy doing the attack animation but didn't hit me, the RNG combo's failed... is this count as receiving damage and disturb the RNG pattern?

    2. everytime i load my game, sometimes i end up with not spawning chest even if i turn off/reset (i'm using Pcsx2 emu)... what should i do? do i have to use different SCR/GCR everytime?

  • @AloneR1ns1d3

    1. Once the monster begins its attack animation the RNG will move so the best thing to do when using Niho + PD is to creep up behind it.

    2. In Cerobi the chances of a chest spawning is 50% so half the time you will reset to find no chest there. In that case you have to reset again. It's nothing to do with Gate or Save Crystal.

  • @FF12GM

    i found a weird RNG pattern :

    1. 3 hit combo around 11~15 hit - do nothing

    2. 2 hit combo around 22~26 hit - cast cure 1x

    3. 3 hit after the 2 hit combo, a 3 hit combo will happen - cast cure 5x

    4. a 5 hit combo will happen in around 48 (the fastest i got) ~ 58 (the longest) hit after the 3 hit combo

i found this while farming mega elixir in cerrobi steppe - south liavell hills to make some gil >_<"

  • I finished this game four times and opened most of secrets. But, i was know nothing about NRG system, until i watched your videos. Thank you so much!

  • i will try to make a video response,hehe ^_^

  • first of all im going to thank FF12grandmaster for making such helpful method like this,it really help me a lot getting rare items..as of now i have almost all the rarest items in ff12..thank you sir! =)

  • @ff12fanatic

You're welcome, Sir! I'm glad it helped you because that is why I made the vid....to help people! :o)

  • Thank you T-T

  • @Chaonackk

    You're welcome :o)

  • Wow, this is incredible!! This even works on the emulator for PS2 Pcsx2!!

  • Here's my epic fail of trying this. i managed to get to the 5-hit somehow, forgot to turn off the atk self gambit, and panicked when the bar started charging, so i threw a potion on myself cause i know it doesnt affect the RNG... but i forgot i had the nihopaloa on.. and damaged myself and my ego lol

  • If You Have Out An Esper (such as zeromus in my case) Will It Affect the RNG method?

  • Hi Grand Master

I 've got a ribon with a pattern. (I have 50000, mod, PAL).

What about to take a chocobo from Balfo to go in a speciefic treasue I want ?

How the RNG react with chocobo (after loading from Orange crystal in Balfo and move 2-3 fields) ?

  • @p0sid0nas In Zodiac Job System the RNG moves 2 everytime you cross a zone line. I'm not sure about normal FF12 because IZJS resets chests every time you enter the zone. If you didn't re-enter a zone I would say that it would be 2 for each time you cross the zone line.

  • Incredible man. how much trial and error this took. How much time? Thanks for making this game even more fun!

  • Hi there; first of all, i thanks for this video.

Now, I just have this riddle i cannot figure yet out:

50% of the times i start on a cold reset (5 out of 10 times Exactly), i ALWAYS get a 3-hit combo on my 3-4 first hits. So i assume this somehow must follow a concrete pattern.

The other 50% i get either the "No brainers" A or the 1st Pointer so far.

Probably the fact i have a PS2 SCPH-79001 must have something to do with it.

'Twould be great if you had some clues about it!

  • Type the serial number of my ps2 is 90 006 as I type and the layout of the Zodiac spear in henne mines and I already opened the chest without doing the layout and I have to do to bau appear again? please thank you very much

  • you have msn ? Type the serial number of my ps2 is 90 006 as I type and the layout of the Zodiac spear in henne mines and I already opened the chest without doing the layout and I have to do to bau appear again? please thank you very much

  • can i use the method there for the ultimate accesory (don´t knw english name)

which i get from red chocobo and Vishnu?

  • @musikmp3man Yes, it's called a Ribbon in the English game.

  • @FF12GM than U :)

  • One thing your guide doesn't mention: does this method also work when using Phoenix Downs against undead foes sans Nihopalaoa? Logically it should, but I don't count on logic from video game developers in how they code things like this. It might not even matter, as the area I have in mind (Barheim Passage) is pretty much an undead spam sandwich and most of them I believe are immune to instakill by Phoenix Down anyway.

  • @TheSkyRender Never checked it but I think that anyone thinking of using PD's against undead will soon find out for themselves. In the Barheim Passage best thing to use is the Immobilise Glitch. Spectres can be KO'd with PD's.

  • Wow tks for posting this up man been a great help and I also got 2 Fomalhauts and 1 Ribbon from this method 8D!

  • By any chance, when the RNG list is over with, does the playstation restart the list? Or does the playstation game freeze up because it has nothing to go by? I am wondering why my playstation always froze after I played 12 hours, left it on overnight, and played 12 more hours ( I elapsed maybe 3 straight days of gameplay, and then my game froze up. But my game started normally with a hard reset, it wouldnt work with a softy.)

  • @Masamuneblade7 It's not the RNG causing your problem because if you get to the end of it, it would just restart. I've had my PS2 on for 9 days running when getting 99 Danjuros and Zero had his on for 18 days when fighting Omega in NLBLLG.

  • @FF12GM Must just be age then.

  • it doesnt works -.- i dont get the 5 hit combo

even if the first combo fits to your list the rest doesnt happen

do i have to be on lvl 99 or other requirements??

i dont know what im doing wrong -.-

  • @xX1nv1ctusXx It does work. Are you starting from a cold start? A soft reset isn't good enough, you have to power the PS2 down. Read the guide and it'll tell you what to do.

  • @FF12GM

yes ive done everything whats in the guide, drop my sword, save, cold start, walk to the next areal and start hitting myself

but if i follow the pointers the 2nd combo doesnt fit to the first and i never get a 5 hit combo =/

  • @xX1nv1ctusXx Do you have anyone using Regen? Are they buffed with it? Do they have a Renewing Morion or the Ring of Renewal? If so, remove it because Regen messes with the RNG.

  • @FF12GM

nope, but maybe i know my problem

could a mob which comes with sometimes by a certain wheather change the RNG?

because since i killed him 10 minutes ago there was my first correct 5 combo since 1 hour of testing xD

but the treasure wasnt there to open ..

  • diamond armlet equiped on fran will still be effective although chest is opened by balthier?

  • @MrFlippy101 Yes, in FFXII it only has to be equipped by a party member. It's in the International version that it has to be equipped by the character opening the chest.

  • @FF12GM my second character has the nihopalaoa. Do I have to switch in a character with the diamond armlet equipped? I was planning on switching te cameo belt on my main character with it, or will that mess the rng :S

  • @Kiyamlol You can switch characters in or you can change their equipment around. Neither will affect the RNG unless a character has an item which buffs you with regen.

  • i didnt knowyou could use pheonix downs to kill ring wyrms...or silver lobos for that matter. At any rate this method seems to be much more rewarding than shutting the game off and trying again.

  • You are an absolute genius

  • Awesome Guide, im gonna give thia a try!

  • I don`t understand the RNG method , can you explain me how it works?

  • @TheFallenHeroe Read the guide that is linked in the vid description.

  • @TheFallenHeroe Thanks man.

  • Thanks for the guide, I get it to work for the zone right next to the SCR. But what if the chest is 2 or more zones away from the SCR? Will the RNG still work the same? since zoning does affect the method.

  • @hsinlunkuo When you first cross into the next zone the RNG moves forward 2 places.

  • you can say me what is the best equipment for my 3 characters

  • why does my 1st hit sometimes do a 4 hits? then after a few hits a 3 or 2 hits will follow then i expect that a 4 hits will show up but it shows a 3 hits. Actually we've done exactly the same thing but it really annoys me a lot why does my RNG always screwed up. :(

  • It's normal to occasionally get a 4 hit to start with. It's followed after a short while (around hit 12) by a 3 hit and then a 2 hit immediately after. Just ignore those combos as they fall outside the parameters I've set which you should know if you've read the guide properly.

  • Does this really work on every PS2 Series ? If so , I will give a cookie to Japan. :D

I dont know but , the best FinalFantasy game is the 12th

  • Wait. As for powering it down, is just hitting reset ok for that... or do i need to put it into sleep mode... or unplug it from the back?

  • This is frustrating me. Im using a ps2 and turning the power off each time. I can get the 5 hit combo and not get hit on the way to the chest and then bring out basch with the diamond armlet but im not getting my item :'( I don't have any positive statuses on fran. She has brawler but she does 0 damage anyways so i went without the cameo belt and shield...

  • Make sure you don't have any equipment on that generates Regen as it interferes with the RNG. To power down you need to turn the ps2 OFF as in no power to it at all. If you just reset it the RNG doesn't go back to the beginning.

  • @FF12GM Yep, powering down was my trouble... i got it now (after a bit of practice). Best method ever!! :D

  • :o)

  • I followed your guide and I could grab 3 rare items in the Cerobi Steppe as shown in your video!

One time it was weird... I started out with 4 hit combo after the very first hit and I didn't know what to do. I decided to let it go. Then came a 3 hit combo and I casted Cure 4 times. It came another 3 hit combo and I casted Cure again 4 times. Then came a 4 hit combo (didn't do anything) and then finally the 5 hit combo!

    Great job! Thank you!

  • Hey does this apply to getting the Diamond Armlet? Cause I can´t do all this without and I don´t have it :(

  • @Kaiokosin You can use the same method to get the Diamond Armlet, but if you're post-game already it may just be less hassle to buy one. Unlucky Merchant, Dalmasca Estersand, South Bank Village.

  • @wee187 Sorry to bother you with the nooby question but once I enter the area Circle of Life in Tchita Uplands. The chest isn´t necessarily there but once I use this method, it will spawn in the designated place with the Diamond armlet?

  • @Kaiokosin Not necessarily. The RNG is made to be used once you're sure the chest is there. Yeah, that means you'll have to hope it's there each time you try(which is why I think getting the DA is a hassle) because it's hard to check and not get hit. If the chest is there however, then if you use the RNG method correctly and evade all enemy attacks, you will get your Diamond Armlet. If the chest isn't there, reset. Hope this helped. =)

  • @wee187 Ow man...Well...Tks for the help but now I´m gonna have hard time making the chest appear :P

  • @Kaiokosin Well, like I said, if you've already beaten the game or are just before beating it, you can save the trouble of getting the DA and just buy it from the Unlucky Merchant in the South Bank Village of the Estersand. :P

  • @Kaiokosin Most of the chests in the cerobi steppe have a 40%-60% chance of spawning and that's preety good. You can get all types of good stuff using RNG in cerobi steppe: Shell shields, ribbons, fomalhauts, megalixers, etc.

  • @DarknessonmyBlade123 - can you get tons of ribbons or formalhauts in cerobi steppe? i mean after ive opened the chest of ribbon (by using RNG method ofcourse), will it be giving me another ribbon on my next attempt on opening it using RNG method? or it will give me another type of rare treasure?

  • @d33jay43 yes you will get ribbons and fomalhauts.(if you restarted). I haven't tried it out yet but I think you would get the second rarest item(only if you opened a chest using rng and a second chest respawned in the exact same place you opened it.) you the only chest that won't give you the rarest possible item using RNG is the excaliber chest because you can get only 1 excaliber.

  • Yet another person can agree this works. I just got a ribbon from here and I had serious doubts after so many failed attempts at the Zodiac Spear. I came here did the hits got a only a 5 hitter after like 85 hits and bang there was the ribbon. Thanks a mill ion.

  • Was very sceptical about this method but decided to try it. Took me about an hour to understand it but can get the rare item every time now. VERY VERY VERY helpful. Thanks :)

  • Glad you got it to work :o)

  • I can't get the RNG method to work.

I've been trying to get the ribbon from Cerobi Steppe for hours now and the combos just don't happen the wat they're listed on your guide.

    HELP ME OUT!!!

  • Are you using a PS3?

Are you soft resetting your PS2 before you enter the area?

Do you have characters with Regen or Armour that buffs you with Regen?

If you answer 'Yes' to any of the above 3 questions then you're going to struggle to get it to work.

  • it must be the Regen on my armor.

    I'll give it another go.

    Thanks!!

  • Got it going on now!

    Thanks for the help!

  • Wtg!! :o)

  • @cyberscab why dont you just farm them normally at henne mines

  • is this possible on a PS2 emulator PC?? thanks

  • I don't know. Try it out and see.

  • thnx XD about the "no hp away when hit urself" =) i couldn't figure out how to do that when i watched ur "ZS in henne mines Phase 2" vid i have it on my psp =) thnx

  • Use any shield and a cameo belt. That way you will do no damage and you won't block either.

  • thank you very much!

  • how do you hit yourself without taking any health off?

  • Use any shield and a Cameo Belt. Shield stops brawler and Cameo Belt stops blocks. Don't forget to put the Diamond Armlet on before opening the chest.

  • some of this items can be bought in stores so i think it's better to buy it

  • how did you get such informations? i mean, why do you use thundara one time with 2targets, then one time with one, etc... ?

  • Trial and error is how I came up with it.

  • really? you must have spend a real huge time!!

  • How can you figure out which chest has a 40% item chance or better?

  • Check a guide. If you can't find one try google

  • Hey I searched a bunch on google. Couldn't find any. If you try searching and manage to find one can you please let me know?

  • FF12maps [.] c0m

  • wow thanks a lot this is a great website

  • thanks.

    and this work with me...

    i get

    6 ribbons

    4 formalhaut

    and 5 venetian shield

    just today.

the another comment is just a joke...

  • casting cure change the partterns?

  • Yes

  • Let me ask one more thing when using the RNG method and looking for the patterns, sometimes your pattern doesn't come up or I forget to cast cure and mess up the pattern. Do I really have to turn off and restart the game, or I seen on other videos on RNG you can reset the thing by casting curaga 4x (I've tried but it doesn't seem to work)?

  • It depends how far you have gone. The 5 hit combo is around hit 80-86 normally so if you are past that you need to turn the PS2 off. If you make an error a lot earlier you can always continue and see if you can hit one of the later pointers because you might be able to set the pattern right again. Just keep track of your hits and look for the specific combos mentioned in the updated guide (2nd link in vid description).

  • GREAT JOB! At first I was a little worried, because I sold my ps2 and now play all my ps2 games on my ps3, and I wasn't sure if this trick would still work. But it does, I followed the patterns and got already three ribbons!!!

  • Wow, that is good. Many people have struggled with a PS3 so it's great to hear you were successful with one! :o)

  • Can i do this with a guest? dead

  • Yeah. Just Niho+PD or Niho+Gold Needle before you do anything. Once the guest is KO'd crack on.

  • @FF12GM— I read your guide, but only have ever gotten the combo explained in your guide twice. What my PS2 seems to do is skip the first small part of the pattern. For example, where I should get a 2 hit combo at 17-28 hits my PS2 skips that and gets a 3hit combo at about 11 hits. Then followed what the guide said I should do if I got it at about 30 hits or so. Though I still got the rare item. Just thought I'd tell you if maybe you didn't know:).

  • Does this work on the US version on a US PS2? I've tried, failed, given up and gone back to the method of "Pause, Square: Back to Menu, Reload, Retry, Fail, Repeat."

  • It works on all PS2's, NTSC or PAL though if you are just resetting instead of powering down then it will never work. The whole idea is based on the fact that the RNG is reset back to the beginning when you turn the machine off. Just resetting using pause and square does not reset the RNG.

  • I did. I even tried removing the power cord AND flipping the switch in the back. Neither works. I've tried every combo in the guide, and they either never end up in a 5-hit, or, the 2 times I DID get a 5-hit, I didn't get the ribbon! Am I doing something wrong?

    2 Hit: 1 Cure

    3 Hit: 3 Cure

  • Hmmm, I wonder?

Ok, who in your party has Regen? I'm guessing someone has the Renewing Morion or Ring of Renewal equipped. Either that or someone is buffed with regen. Regen screws with the RNG so remove it.

  • None of my ACTIVE members have ANY status buffs. ALL reserve members have every buff in the game. Do I need to remove that? Or does it not matter? Also, do I need to have only one person in the party during the "self-attacking" process? Finally, I seriously have only seen the 5-hit twice, and both times, I didn't get my Ribbon. Is there another pattern that I am missing? I was actually using the copied guide on Split Infinity's guide, which he got permission for. Is there an update?

  • Dunno about reserve members affecting the RNG but I doubt they would. Doesn't matter how many are in the active party as long as they aren't doing anything to affect the RNG.

My guide in Split's guide is correct and up to date. I can't think what your problem is because everyone else seem to be able to get it to work.

  • What accessory did you say you had on Balthier?

  • Nihopalaoa

  • how come your using another character to the Diamond Armlet? Can Balthier be wearing it?

  • I just put it on another character to save switching it around. It only needs to be on a character in the active party. It doesn't have to be the leader.

  • whats RNG i've never played that game

  • RNG = Random Number Generator. It's not a game, just a way of generating random numbers within a game.

  • Thats amazing. I just tried this and got a Ribbon on the Cerobi Step on my first attempt. I have no idea what model my PS2 is but i live in Australia and was concerned that my PAL machine wouldn't be able to do this. You are a legend and i thank you for saving me a lot of trouble.

  • Thanks, I'm glad you were able to get what you wanted. You didn't need to worry about it working because I am English and all of this was tested originally on a PAL machine. :o)

  • What is the best combination in a party?

1 guy with axe and shild (as leader)

    1 guy with a 2 hands sword

    1 girl with a bow

    I'm just asking!!!

  • The best is whatever you want it to be though it's nice to have a balanced team like a Tank, Support and Mage.

  • I've gone through the comments on the first video and from what I understand, the 77001 model works with both methods just the same. Is that corect? Thanks :D

  • Yes, it's just that this new way can get any pattern to arrive at the 5 hit combo. You don't need to recognise patterns, just watch for the tell-tale combos.

  • So I can go through the henne mines to the zodiac spear chest with the immobilize glitch and I can just watch for the patterns? The casting of immobilize or using Niphoxwhfwhatever+ stop doesn't affect the RNG so bad the patterns mess up? :D hooray less worries.

  • Immobilise and Niho + Chronos Tear will affect the RNG but it will only move it forward the equivalent of one or two hits.

  • Thank you

  • oh wait I wasn't done XD So if I use 2 Niho + chronos tear and I proceed to the chest and get a 2 hit combo after 15 hits does that count as the 17 hit as in the 1st pointer? And the hits it takes to spawn the chest don't affect the RNG to where if I used 2 hits and 2 chronos tears + Niho and got a 2 hit combo 15 hits later it's really 19?

  • Instead of Niho + Chronos Tear you can use immobilise. You'll only need to cast that once. I also suggest that you look at the updated version of the guide (2nd link in vid description) where you'll see that you don't need to be completely accurate with the hits to be able to change the pattern into the one that produces the 5 hit combo.

  • maybe when i play this i'll understand what all of you are talking about :S

  • this worked for me on my ps3

  • this is the first time i heard of rng bet your ass i am going to look into it . it looks very fun to know this plus not many people can say they can do it

  • So...I have to sit there and count how many times I hit myself and the combos?

  • Well I'm not going to sit there and count them for you.

  • This is for PS2. It is possible to get the 5 hit combo on the PS3 but it's a different avenue to get there and fails just as often as it succeeds, if not more often.

  • I stand corrected. Cold reboot, and first go is 78 hits, 5 combo. Gah, close to the 80's...

  • Also, I have yet to see a 5 hit combo. And, I'm not trying to get any rare treasure yet, I'm just trying to see if my PRNG patterns correspond with yours to any degree; and it seems that they don't. Ugh, I always get faulty equipment.

  • Man I've got a headache... I just can't get heads or tails with my PS2... None of the patterns in your guides match up even close to mine, ff12gm. Always have a coldstart (unplug back power cord), weaponless character w/o brawl license. But still, my PRNG appears to be a real RNG. it's been close to 4 hours straight, and I have yet to have an approximately recurring pattern, or even a pattern similar to one of yours. I have a 70012 slim PS2. Could it be a different model disc?

  • great vid u still on teh move hope you find much more rng tricks keep on that great way 5* faved

  • Wow........the game designers put all THIS in the game? Wow.

  • This is odd FF12GM, This pattern is unusuall. Here's my discovery: 18 hits--->3-hit Combo -> Cure/Curaga ->29 hits---> 4-hit Combo ->28 hits--->5-hit Combo. Does this look a bit abnormal to you? Looks to me like a fusion of Patterns 5 and 6 on your sheet?

  • Hitting yourself twice, casting immobilise and getting hit by the abysteels will all affect the RNG. Because the 3 hit combo after 18 went on to a 4 hit and then a 5 hit tells me that the 3 hit was actually at 23 hits and not 18. Your actions prior to hitting yourself obviously moved the RNG on 5 places. Not really rocket science, is it?

  • I didnt use the immobilize glitch, I used Nipholala + Phoenix downs in Cerobi to clear the enemies. Only thing different I did before I started the RNG was the Niph+PD on the Ring Wyrm. Did that offset the RNG? For some reason I still got the Dark shot after the 5-hit.

  • No, using Niho + PD is fine as it doesn't affect the RNG. It's a great way to remove any enemies that are in your way :o)

  • Uhh, I just got your same combination again grandmaster, but I got a 3hit combo at 18 hits; what does this mean? I'll progress normally and update you- idk if this is some unusual pattern or not.

  • If the next combo is a 4 hitter after 29 more hits then continue and the 5 hitter will follow 28 hits after that. If not, ignore it.

  • Thanks :)

    hepled me alot :)

  • ^_^

  • does this work if your emulating the game on pcsx2?

  • No idea, sorry

  • Verified working version 0.9.6. :)
