  • This guy is a monster of bass guitar!!

  • Wow Robert Trujillo sound that distortion :))

  • 0:50 + Raining Farts

  • Finally a video with him with that bass on an amp :)

  • you're not very good ...

  • @Lasagalesauvage you need to calm down

  • he looks pretty happy with that drive tone towards the end haha

  • I agree, I try to find a decent demo of how that pedal sounds, and in stead we find this virtuosity demostration wich really, is pretty useless on getting to know how this baby sounds like.. FELIPE, WE KNOW YOU'RE GOOD, NOW CAN YOU PLEASE, SHOW US THE PEDAL? Thank you.. GOSH!

  • Hurley, you lost so much weight!

  • im kinda new into the pedals and everything...but...what does a pedal do exactly?

  • @Flipnoy808

It gives you that growl without having a very loud amp.

  • @bubu245 simulates the ampeg svt head

  • 0:50 and onward is total Entwistle tone. :D

  • man, i dont know why ur bashing this dude he's freaking awesome, and gives me a good range of tone for the bass from this pedal, and i love how he demonstrated the distorted side of this pedal. NOW cuz of this video im gonna buy that pedal!

  • I wasn't trying to demo the pedal...at all. I think this is quite clear. I was trying the pedal for myself, and Andy happened to be filming. He asked if he could upload the video and link to Tech21's website, to what I obviously answered yes! Want to try the pedal? Go to the nearest store. And thanks again to Andy, which is quite a nice guy.

  • Not exactly the best video showcasing the pedal but I still enjoyed his playing. I think calling his playing utter shit is pretty disrespectful, especially if you're referring to him playing the Pat Metheny riff. I also got to see another application of this bass pedal which is pretty nice.

  • 0:50 estilo flea!

  • Not a great video in terms of "demonstrating" what the pedal can do, but having played it it's a high quality pedal that can give you a wide range of overdrives & distortions from a light SVT "growl" to a full-on Type O Negative massive distortion. If I didn't have an Xotic BB Bass Preamp Overdrive/Distortion pedal that's very much like it but hand-wired, generally higher quality but higher priced, I'd pick one up. Better yet, the upcoming 4-preset VT Bass DLX if I didn't have several OD/DSs.

  • Listen to his work in Angra, then call him bass.

  • somebody knows the name of what he's playing from 0:00 to 0:10, thanks

  • @jaqetall yes ido.its called shit.

  • Actually that part is not shit! ;-) It is the intro to the track "Unquity Road" from the Pat Metheny album "Bright Size Life" featuring Jaco Pastorius on bass.

  • yeah that's why i knew that sound from somewhere i have that cd, amazing thanks

  • @gjestbaardsen its still shit.play bass, not guitar on bass.

  • he still looks and sounds shite.

  • i ussually focus on one style of bass playing but now i want to try more (i know im not going to be that good though)

  • legend

  • this guy would be lost in a band...

  • He's clearly messing around, I do the same while I'm trying out stuff.

  • bliax...

  • Puke.

  • I wish I had his hands

  • i wish i had that amp and bass

  • ok..

  • This is what Tech 21 links you too for a demo for the VT bass pedal?

It's supposed to be a vintage amp/sound emulator and you give us this wanker? They should have somebody playing Geezer or Lemmy riffs...or Donald Duck Dunn and not this 2 too many strings masturbator. Maybe tech21 is trying to corner the Brazilian market with Mr. Felipe here. Muy macho

  • @dogboywonder I wasn't trying to demo the pedal...at all. 7 segundos atrás

  • @dogboywonder Mr,, whoever,,,, do you realize that your comment leave you sounding quite ignorant!!

  • @sleekbass unfortunately mr ignorant(dogboywonder) is correct in his assumptions.

  • @dogboywonder God forbid he play something skillful

  • wankerrific!!

  • 0:13 thats just sick :D

  • ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • lookatme, lookatme, lookatme!!

  • I think you don't know what you are talking about. Have you ever heard names like Victor Wooten or Michael Manring for example?

  • Οf course I have. And one of my favourite bass players is Myung from DT. I know virtuosity when I see it, and I respect it by all means. But try to give a "yes" or a "no" to my very specific question...

  • He did answer your question. Victor Wooten and Michael Manring do one man shows.

  • Οccasionally, yes. In clinics, naturally. Not when touring in their bands or when recording.

  • So how is that any different from what Vai and Satriani do?

  • it all depends on what kind of music you're playing and what the show's like.

If you want to see a bass player one man band, check out 'that 1 guy'

    virtuostic 'spotlight' is wholly overrated.

  • I think the problem is that for a video that's supposed to be showing off the pedal, it's not (you basically hear his tone at the beginning and the ultra-distortion at the end, when I personally know it's capable of far more...) and instead showing off his playing.

  • And Stanley Clarke. And Marcus Miller. And Les Claypool.

There are countless bassists that do SOLO bass, even if they also tend to play in bands. That's like saying drums can ONLY be a rhythm instrument even though there are different drum TUNINGS.

  • The instrument he's playing is called a bass guitar dude. What this guy is playing sounds great. Don't be so scared.

  • Oh, it's a bass guitar. No shit Sherlock. It's not "different" - I've seen this style countless times. Some times it fits in and sometimes it doesn't. "Scared", hmm, that was the reason I couldn't sleep last night.

  • sounds shite.doesn't scare me...just wish he'd stuck to a guitar.

  • This dude is pretty good on bass but when he was higging the be string it sounded pretty sloppy, his jeans are really tight.

  • went to see some shows he did with karma, he did gain a lot of weight, problably the jeans are from the karma era =p

  • Haha, he probably forgot to do laundry and then was like uh oh, then put on some old ones.

Man I made some weird errors, I meant hitting, and B string, and now that I watch this he wasnt sloppy on the B string, I must have been having mental problems that day. lol.

  • I liked pedal brow!! He was a hit!!

  • I liked, very good! That bass has beautiful sound!!

  • what?with that mullet? ;-)

  • he's showing off to the ppl at the store

  • When he started playing fast it sounded like a flurry of total shit.

  • my point entirely BassSpotter.don't know whats worse, the facial hair and greasey mullet or the w@nking on bass?

  • 0:50 JIZZED IN MY PANTS

  • agree completly

  • This is in no way true demonstration of this pedal. Not sure why Tech 21 linked this video to this pedal. This guy is playing bass just like classical acoustic guitarist. There is a whole wave of this kind of musicians and I'm not sure why did they pick bass if they couldn't succeed in what they played before.

  • Com o Andreoli tocando a gente nem precisa julgar o pedal. Quero ver um simples baixista tirar um som tão potente com um baixo de quatro cordas ou sem o conhecimento que o Felipe tem. Isso é meio injusto...

  • haha.exactely.well spotted purenectar.

  • He is just foolin around jesus christ. Listen to any Angra or Almah album. He obviously doesnt just play fast all the time. Hyper critical asshole.

  • i agree. wanking it is. where is 'the bass' if its played like that? Whats the point in having youtube if we can't call each other an asshole?

  • How do you play 'bass' while playing alone? Can you give me video example of someone doing that?

  • Well you have THIS video to start with.

  • haha that was a response to someone who was bashing this guy's playing.

  • Just search "Solo Bass" or players such as Victor Wooten and Stu Hamm and you'll see some amazing pieces of musicianship out there, far more complex and intricate than most "Solo Guitar" music.

  • The Tech21 website says it is a video demo - that is where they get it from - a link brings you here.

  • Comment removed

  • My i just say somthing, first of all to all, you ass holes insulting this professional bass player let me just say. WARE THE FUCK does this page or video say that this is demo??? Any one?...any one? I DIDNT FUCKING THINK SO. you guys need to chill....lol

    Just saying...

Same for kiko's vids. Hes just playing with the ped's, just like this guy. Not a bad thing

  • Ya, they could just have there own personal preferance on what they are looking for.

  • da pra gravar só com esse pedal...

  • not a demo

  • How is this a demo. There's no without vs. with the pedal tone comparison. How do we know what the pedal is doing? ...apart from being able to hear a clean and overdrive sound from the pedal ... while some guy shows off, wishing he were a guitar player.

    This is not a demo.

  • my thoughts exactly

  • Love Felipe, the Yamaha is nice, pedal sucks though.

  • I didn´t notice any diference between the tones, only when he use´s the overdriver...

  • Sounds like dick... I would never buy this pedal based on this video. Why do all of the bass effect demos have some dude whacking off rather than someone actually playing the bass?

  • Man this guy is sick... shame I dont like the whole shredding thing on basses.

    but great anyway.

  • 0:50 (L)

  • This is REALLY tough to get a good feel for this pedal with this kind of playing. It's just not a good real-world scenario. All I hear is 6 string dissonant sounding jamming, not the effect.

  • ok i saw your video and my bass dont have the fender 51 type, but the problem with those pickups is they dont have a lot of crispie medium and treble that i need, the sound is warm and bass and have a lot of balls but he cannot be slapy enough like the Warwick, fender jazz bass, or music man and vigier or ibanez.

  • Guys, this guys is a professional bass player. he is not just a shredder. go and check some of the bands he plays Angra and Karma.

    Truly amazing chops.

    Gracias por el Video Felipe

  • Felipe e o cara

toca muito ainda vou conseguir tocar 1/10 doq ele toca

  • Gorgeous tone, the heavy sound at the end would sound great for Rage Against the Machine style grooves.

    Class chops aswell!

  • hum i need a Vigier bass or a musicmann bongo for having more punchy sound than my home made précision bass with emg p pickup but tech 21 is just save my recording session when i buy and used the bass driver .

  • You can have all the punch you want out of a homemade pbass with emg P... check my vids ;)

  • couldn't hear the pedal it was so F#@kin busy

  • wankfest

  • I gotta get me one of those "WWF Hairstyles" (wet / slick looking long hair).

  • he's supposed to be demonstrating the bass VT, instead he just hacks and wanks, who cares!

where's the groove??? this guy sucks!

  • And tell me who told you that he was "supposed" to demonstrate anything... For me it seems that he's just trying the pedal for himself, fooling around with it, in which case he doesn't care about what you were expecting to hear. And please note: not everything in life must groove, especially if your just playing for yourself. Give me a break on this kind of common place, "I'm jealous" comments. As if everyone is obligated to play grooves in every goddamned video just to please people like you...

  • if you do a search for "Sansamp Bass VT review"

    this is what comes up...

IMO groove is everything, but you're right

if he's just playing for himself then it shouldn't matter to me if he's groovin' or not

but if he's demo-ing a product in which people are interested, then he better be groovin'

and if I'm playing drums, he's the last guy i want to jam with

  • I understand your concern, and I agree with you. Groove is everything, in a band situation especially.

I was just trying the pedal for myself, and Andrew, the president of Tech 21, was filming me while I was doing that. The intention was not to demo the pedal, he just wanted to have an informal video. It's just that I like to groove AND shred.

But one thing I can assure you, you wouldn't regret having me in a jam, shredding is not all I can do. Hope we have the chance someday.

    Cheers!

  • This was a reply to uclekebm

  • i dont believe you're mr andreoli, indeed....

but if u are, tell me.....

    what's up with Angra????!!!

  • Angra is going through management (and other) changes, so we're not currently doing anything. As soon as everything is sorted out, we'll be back with a new record, hopefully beginning of next year.

But anyone could have told you that... ;-)

  • Thanks for clearing that up...

    rock on!

  • terrible demo of the pedal. great player if you're into that, I'm not

  • Holy fuckin shit that pedal is gonna rock the living fucking shit out of my amp when it comes out!!

  • The way Andreoli slaps is really crazy... First time I see this (he doesn't really do it in Angra)... His slapping thumb is in a really fricking weird position, not horizontal on the same direction as the strings... All of his right hand is actually strange, look at his popping fingers they barely move! Wtf!

  • what's this dude got to do with the Tech21 pedal? Seems like he just wants to show off in the store. And who could play with a guy like that - too many fireworks goin off!

  • wow!! The best is the last sound effect!!

  • fucking amazing

  • that's not a bass, it's a harp.
