  • There is always one idiot that hates a masterpiece. Enjoy Ga Ga dickless.

  • @altonemoore3 Thank you! You actually understand good music!

  • Neil Peart at his best. The words make me strive for more...

    I needed that.

The song is incredible too (synth included).

  • Rush is the greatest band ever.....After listening to and following them for 35 years, they are so timeless and talented. Thank you for such great music and memories!

  • It's pretty bad when an album makes Power Windows sound good. Thank God they killed the massive Synth overuse after this ridiculous failure. Though I will say this song isn't too bad. But most of the rest of the album, just bad. Hard to believe this was only a few years after such triumphs as Signals and Moving Pictures.

  • @karlmoles65 Aesthetic opinions spice up our lives, but throwing them around as absolute truths like that is not very fruitful. Though truth be told, I (or anyone else) would't be irked by a statement like that if it would fit my own tastes.

  • @FrailMonument Well it's not an opinion that this album was a victim of massive synth syndrome, Geddy will admit that. Far as it being relatively bad compared to other older Rush albums...sure it's an opinion, but it's an opinion shared by a large percentage of critics and fans, which to my way of thinking sends it pretty far down the road towards fact.

  • @karlmoles65 This is one of my favorite Rush albums ever. Both Power Windows and Hold Your Fire are great albums. Without them, we wouldn't have such gems as Force Ten, Tai Shan, of course Prime Mover, The Big Money, and Mystic Rhythms. You sir, can go fuck yourself.

  • @TheRobbyDeLuca Think I'd rather fuck Your Mom, thanks. And you sir, have shit taste. It's laughable to call Tai Shan a gem.

  • @karlmoles65 Okay. Real mature, pulling a your mom joke. You know what. I don't just think about how many synthesizers are in a song, I think about how well written the song is, and this whole album is a hidden treasure. And Tai Shan is an amazing song, and it's about Neil's trip to China to go climb mountains. And why would you post a bad comment if you didn't like a song in the first place? Just do what I do. Click the little back button on the top left corner of the screen. Asshole.

  • @TheRobbyDeLuca Oh yeah, and it was even MORE mature of you telling someone to quote "Go fuck yourself" over a conflicting song opinion, what are you 10? You acted like an immature dickbag, and I let you have it right back, and now you're whining cause I fought back against your childish and pathetic insults? Oh brother. And calling me an asshole? Priceless, what a ignorant moron you are. Life lesson. YOU ARE THE ASSHOLE HERE. Think about it dumbass, and grow a brain.

  • @TheRobbyDeLuca And furthermore, it doesn't matter if it's about Mother Teresa's love for the poor, if it's bad, it's bad. Overuse of synth and dead dry production can ruin anything, you're clueless. Also, stop juvenile-insulting people and then blaming them for you childishness, you douche.

  • @karlmoles65 Okay, I REALLY didn't want to pull this, but calling me immature is a very big mistake on your part. You are 45 and arguing with a 17-year-old about Rush. And saying that I'm clueless? I am a semi pro musician. You, again, are 45 and arguing with me about Rush. Now, truthfully, I do think some songs on here are stale, but they are still just as good as any other Rush song. And there are hardly any "juvenile insults" in this entire conversation.

  • @TheRobbyDeLuca Mistake, the only mistake here, was once again, YOU INSULTING ME FIRST LIKE A CHILD. You did it, it's right there for everyone to see. Until you show some maturity and apologize for your childishness I will continue to treat you at the level you sought. I am exactly one year older than you, and until you just said you were 45 I thought I was dealing with a teenager here.

  • @karlmoles65 And, truthfully, I think that, again, if you don't like the song, don't dislike it or trash it in the comments, just do the mature thing and click the little back button in the top left hand corner of the screen. I mean, this isn't Friday, because there are people who actually like this song. So, feel free to trash Friday all you want, everyone does, but please, don't trash the good music. You'll just end up in an argument similar to this.

  • @TheRobbyDeLuca You seem to mistake having an opinion for trashing. And again, the ONLY REASON I ended up in an argument here was your kiddie insults.

  • @karlmoles65 And now for my grand finale, I'll tell you this. By calling me a douche, you just managed to drop down to the level of 90% of YouTubers. Furthermore, "dead and dry production?" Really dude, a good 100% of 90's music sounded like this. Now, I listen to Rush more than I do anything, but I can tell you this, there is more variety in Rush than anything else. Now please stop trashing a good band, I'm at least being polite this time.

  • @TheRobbyDeLuca No kidding a good 90% of 80s music sounded exactly like that. Exactly my point. Rush always stayed far above most other music by charting thier own course. NOT following the herd. Which is why myself, and a whole lot of other Rush fans dislike this particular era. Now I want to ask you a question..how is criticizing (Not trashing) one particular era or album "trashing" the band as a whole? Hate to inform you, but Rush is my fifth favorite band of all time..

  • @TheRobbyDeLuca And now to mercilessly shoot down your "Grand finale" Do you have a clue what an AMAZING HYPOCRITE you just were??? The man who opened our conversation by saying "Go fuck yourself" is seriously whining at me for calling him a douche!?!?!? Anyone else see the hilarious irony here?

  • @karlmoles65 And now you're running out of things to argue about! My God, do you realize how fucking stupid you sound? And again, why trash a good song if you don't like it. Hit the fucking back button, and stop douching up the comment area with your retarded crap.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheRobbyDeLuca

You both are childish mushroom monkeys. I am better than both of you and I am better at thinking of insults. I am above social conventions so do not attempt to respond to me.

  • @FeelingFreshSon Um.... dude. This argument has been over for two days. You must realize that I got tired of it. I'm sorry if I pissed you off, I was just defending a good song.

  • @TheRobbyDeLuca

Sorry! I just wanted to see what would happen. That's not a good reason to go butting into people's "cyber conversations" though.

  • Mt boa!

  • Prime Mover simply transports my mind and senses!

  • after all this time I still love this song ! ....great band, so underrated in my opinion ! ...love the guitar scream (false harmonic) at 0:47 from Alex ....simple, tasteful, ...RUSH !

  • chills every time

  • I have listened to this album like 40 times over. I have it on repeat in my car. It does not get old for some reason...

  • the breakdown at the end and then the build up with all the pieces coming together is pure magic, i remember getting this album and being like, "holy crap what song is this!??!?!!" been one of my favorites

  • @2112Dmoney exactly !

  • The perfect song... Rush, I'm in love with you!

  • This song is SUCH a hidden gem

  • @AJAM69 Agreed. I didn't like it much the first time I heard it but it's classic Rush to me now

  • I have never jizzed so much in my life..

Rush is the best band ever.

  • their music is like a law of physics or a force of nature something discovered rather than created

  • My computer wouldn't let me pause the song.... It just stayed at 0:00 while the song played and I couldn't stop it, oh my god. My computer likes Rush :D

  • What a great rock song. What a GREAT song. Period. This and "Time Stands Still" keep me in focus in life.

  • 1. i cant makeup my mind

  • I've seen them live since 2112 tour. My favorite band next to YES

  • 1. Grace 2. Waves 3. Pictures 4. Signals 5. Power 6. Snakes 7. Spheres 8. Hold 9. Farewell 10. 2112

  • Somebody just missed the like button !

  • 1. echo 2. grace. 3 kings 4. hold 5. snakes

  • can't we just enjoy the music of RUSH

  • 1 A Farewell To Kings 2 Fly By Night 3 2112 4 Permanent Waves 5 Moving Pictures 6 Signals 7 Hemispheres 8 Rush 9 Grace Under Pressure 10 Power Windows My rankings
  • @karlmoles65 There's a self-titled album?

  • @pajasper Yeah, called Rush, released in 74, their debut

  • @pajasper Yes.

  • @karlmoles65 1. Grace 2. Moving 3. Signals 4. Hold 5. Power 6. Permanent 7. 2112 8. Counterparts 9. Presto 10. Fly

  • @pajasper 1. Echo 2. Presto 3. Counter 4. Grace 5. Hold

  • god I love this song. Rush fan since I was 10 and I must say, although this is far from their most technical or impressive stuff, it is so inspiring. True Rush fans recognize the transition they went through in the 80's! Absolutely beautiful album and Presto is just as good!

  • @Hydrok9 Honestly I like Presto a bit better, and Power Windows quite a bit better. Hold Your Fire is my least favorite Pre-Roll The Bones album.

  • @karlmoles65 Caress of Steel is mine

  • @Hydrok9 Well there are sure parts of that one I don't like (I Think I'm Going Bald...what were they thinking) But I loveeee The Necromancer, Lakeside Park, and The Fountain Of Lamneth.

  • the entire world is about progressive... but music & art has slowed down.... Katy Lady...... RUSH keeps a few minds active

  • still listen to my 7" picture disc single of this, awesome tune

  • minus the 100 yrs added and we are HERE!

  • My two favorite Rush songs, this and "Grand Designs". Almost can't listen to one without the other! :)

  • @toastyplatters70 Both Prime Mover and Grand Designs are two of my favorites too. This song has a great vibe. I think Rush fans are way too hard on Peter Collins and the sound of this era of Rush. I think it is great. It has a vibe much like the Outfield's Reach Out (also from a greatly produced '80s album). I especially love when Geddy's voice echoes at circa 5:05-5:15.

  • i just got this album today :)

  • Yet another weak Rush song (which is better than anything else that exists in music!)

  • @FantaZingo Are you crazy? Weak Rush song? This song is beautiful. It's one of my favorites. You may not like it, but god DAMN do I love it. The lyrics are some of their best.

  • @GibberingMouther By "weak" I didn't mean that I don't like it. It's by far my favorite song from Hold Your Fire.

  • Love this song! It's really cool to see that there are people all over the USA and Canada and the world really; who love Rush as much as I do. To all my fellow Rush brothers and sisters out there - peace and love to all of you!

  • 1 person likes back street boys

  • Great song! Thanks for uploading!

  • Great song! Thanks for uploading!

  • RUSH: Altering perceptions since 1968

  • Rush is the best of the best. There is no one like Geddy lee.

  • 1 person is a determinist.

  • @wingsofliberty437 I'm a determinist, determined to spread the holy gospel of Rush! haha

  • I play this one on drums - lots of fun!

  • great song though. one of my favourites.

  • lol a long time ago I kept misreading the title as "Prime mower" and thought the song was about lawn mowers.

  • PRIME MOVER!!! This song has always and will probably forever NEVER FAIL to cover me in chills... I ADORE THIS TRACK!!!!!! "ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!"

  • this song has gr8 rhythm

  • The point of a journey is not to arrive!

  • Anything can happen.......... Amen.

  • 42000 views!!!

  • You have to be pretty confident in your stupidity to be 1 of 41,000 plus not to like this song.....

  • An great song from an unjustly disliked album.

  • good to see that there is two of us that feel this way....!

  • @Inspadave there isn´t disliked albums to Rush Fans

  • fUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have always loved this song, each instrument is played with beauty. and the lyrics speak of life. The title is a reference to a higher power, some prime mover.

  • @swordsth

Or you could be the prime mover. It's all up to your perception :)

  • @swordsth While I totally agree with this, I also have to laugh because the things that clean the floors at the supermarket I used to shop at, the big ride-on floor cleaner things are made by a company called "Prime Mover" or, maybe that's what the particular model is called, I'm not sure.

But given the way Rush names some of their songs, I can't help but think that the correlation could be on purpose, even though it is a long shot xD

  • Always one of my favorite songs, and it's so positive... anything can happen.

  • I listen to this song at least once a year. Fantastic lyrics

  • This song is one of my favorites from them. The lyrics are complex, the bass and guitar have a ton of atmosphere, the synths are so melodic, and the drumming? Well, what else can be said about The Professor?

And yet, I find this track to be so damned sexy.

  • When the end of the world comes in 2012, Rush will be there to delay it another 100 years, just in time for the Elder Race to return.

  • @gsruler Excellent statement my friend-u have the right brain pattern. Join Me and thumbs up!

  • @gsruler I like the cut of your jib...

  • @gsruler Brilliant comment.

  • @gsruler What a wonderful comment.

  • Who gives a rat's ass about "progressive" anything?

This is RUSH we're talking about.

    They transcend progressive.

    They transcend metal.

    They transcend rock.

    End of lesson.

  • @blorgensteen End of conversation. I am so happy to read this. Indeed, this is Rush we speak of. Nothing more needs be said my friend.

  • Some of the most inspiring lyrics Neil's ever written. The music is, as always, Rush.

  • this song is awesome

  • Any shit can happen.

  • I love the ooo-ing at the end of the song :)

  • "Soundgarden's Superunknown album from the same period actually has a more progressive rock sound! " @Relayer71, are you sure you listened to Counterparts? Listen to "Double Agent" or "Leave that thing alone" and then name me one song off of Superunknown that's more progressive than either of those two songs.

  • wow, no dislikes... all is cool so far! this track rocks.

  • Err, meant Prime Mover was the best track on Hold Your Fire, lol.

  • Comment removed

  • simply the best and one of a kind band. Our hats off to Canada!

  • rush is the reason why y2k never happend HAHA

  • Rush is absolutely brilliant

  • for me, these guys are a way of life.

  • Comment removed

  • @hammop1 Well, you're certainly entitles to your opinion but Hold Your Fire and Power Windows are a bit on the "worst Rush albums", still, these are Rush albums so they still great in their own way. I thought Presto was better than Hold Your Fire.

  • @ViciousAlienKlown I disagree. Counterparts and Signals are their worst (and the only Rush albums I can't listen to - and I'm a huge fan!).

Hold Your Fire and Power Windows were underrated, especially Power WIndows. PW looses a bit of steam in the 2nd half but those first 4 songs were excellent. They haven't been able to top Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures but they've still released some good albums over the years. And Prime Mover is the best track on Power WIndows, LOVE this song!

  • @Relayer71 Its funny but I thought Prime Mover was a so so song on that album. Signals was okay but I loved Counterparts since it wasn't a synth heavy album and just sounded a lot more progressive. Hold Your Fire seems to not have any soul to it.

  • @ViciousAlienKlown I don't mind synths as long as they don't dominate, which is why I loved the first half of Power Windows. It has synths but also really great bass work, smoking guitar solos/riffs and great lyrics.

Hold Your Fire is better than some give it credit for but I do agree it lacks a bit of soul, good call. But Counterparts wasn't progressive, it was more 90s alternative rock. Soundgarden's Superunknown album from the same period actually has a more progressive rock sound!

  • I love reading what fellow Rush fans have to say. In general, I would say Rush fans are more intelligent as a whole than most others. This song is epic, yes, anything can happen.

  • @pelagic6

Rush fans are fans of a band that's not only extremely talented, but don't blindly follow their record company or managers. They make what they want in whatever style they want, hence why every album is different. They're not cookie cutter pop, misogynist and crude rap, generic rock with four chords and a simple 4/4 drum beat, or haughty, egotistical prog for hipsters. They're true musicians.

  • In my opinion, this is the best album from Rush. I like all songs!

  • People nowadays think the "it's not about...etc." from miley cyrus' "the climb" is the first ever time anyone came up with that sort of idea in a song. I was sixteen when "hold your fire" came out. I bought the CASSETTE (that's right, we didn't much use records, and CD's were that minidisc-looking thing you had seen on "airwolf", like three or four years before, but didn't know what it was for) the week it came out at the record store.

  • TBH, too many Fav's of Rush..........this is up there!

  • what the H.o.Fame is doing. (in my opinion) the snubbed Rush hoping the would fade when neil's family dynamic changed. however, the band is crushing it. then to save face. the H.o.Fame is going to make it out to be. "all about Rush" marketing stunt to make people more passionate about the Hall. f' them. Rush Much??? of course we do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a show of hands?!

  • @humbledrumah

The Hall of Fame generally only inducts artists who are not only mainstream, but very popular with executives. Rush has a history of not blindly following the record companies' requests (hence why the made 2112, the album that brought them into massive fame, when they were specifically told not to).

  • @chitoryu12 i hear you dude. i saw the special "lighted stage" i have been drumming and studying rush since '83. rush fans are truly well spoken. cheers mate... "working them angels"

  • anything can happen...and most usually does....

  • I still can be thrilled to be alive when I hear this song

  • I Hope they Never Get in the Hall Of FAME.. Its To CRAPPY for them.. Best to go and show History as Idiots ... Greatest Band Ever.. that didnt Sell out to that CROCK OF SHIT Hall Of fame.. the put Pee wee Herman in there

  • @WilAzzamEdison Well said brother!

  • @WilAzzamEdison my man you could never be any more precise!!! this band is too good for any hall of anything!!the hall of fame is a shame!!every band that goes in has surely thought of RUSH!!!How could they not!?!?!?they all should stand up and say that this Hall is a Crock of Shit!!!

  • @TheErnst1969 :)

  • Rush and Dragonforce are worlds apart. I like both bands but Rush holds it place among thr greats.

  • Pure optimism, I wish they would create more music as inspiring and optimistic as this...come up with something in their latter years to surpass thier previous works like Beethoven did with his 9th Symphony.

  • @1980MF1980 Listen to the new songs from their new album coming out. Clockwork Angels.

  • Anything Can Happen

  • I don't get it, who the fuck are Dragonforce? And why are they getting mentioned here, of all places?

  • Anything can happen. Don't let this fucked up world get you down. And if it does get you down, never forget, anything can happen!

  • thank to RUSH for everything they do for me . in many ways. rush is gold and cant be compared with other bands

  • Gawd damn, this song is so powerful,it just bottles my scrotum!

  • "I set the clouds in motion

    Turn up light and sound

    Activate the window

And watch the world go 'round

    Anything can happen"

    Amazing!!!

  • in 2010, so far, everything has happened.

  • Best part of Rush is that they have a song for everything. Being around for so many years, they have so many sounds.

Oh yeah, and because they rock.

  • @gsruler Too bad this song fails to rock!

  • @SciMasterGeneral

Everyone likes different songs, I like this one, I guess you don't, just goes to show that personalities have a big impact on the music we like.

  • "Activate the Window......And watch the world go round..."

  • Rush the creators of modern day rock. Godfathers of todays ryhtems and beats. Total GODS in the rock genre.

  • I listen to other bands, but always come back to Rush...it's like coming home...ace.

  • @itsabitwindy You said it man ;)

  • @itsabitwindy Wow exactly how I feel

  • @itsabitwindy You took the words right out of my mouth

  • Dioses verdaderos, dioses que se pueden sentir y llegar a ser dioses se pueden adorar. Simplemente grandes hombres que llenan el corazón. Amo a Rush!!

  • im just getting into rush and i keep expecting to find a song i dont like and i cant find any! what an awesome band!

  • @lukechilled awesome !!!

  • @lukechilled Probably you will find something on Grace Under Pressure that you aren't mad about, but yes, Rush is awesome.

  • @TheAyanamiRei

    Tried that. Failed miserably.

  • @Crowvoice - completely agree. Rush has written most of the soundtrack of my life. This song could be considered a theme song!

  • Thanks for posting this. This band was my high school years. They defined and annotated those years.

  • I got to listening to the whole Hold Your Fire album and I gotta say, this song is my fave so far.

  • @fendergibs, no one likes you. shut your mouth you son of a bitch

  • sweet that you posted this on bastille day!

  • Awesome song!

  • Rush has some very distinct eras in their evolution...this album was an awesome transition as they evolved in the mid-late 80's. Powerful upbeat sound and lyrics.

  • I don't see how Rush fans can dislike any of their albums. I love all of their records. In fact, Snakes and Arrows and Vapor Trails are two of my favorites. I wasn't a huge fan of Presto at first, but it grew on me. Available Light is one of my favorite songs period.

  • Wow, Vapor Trails is my favorite Rush album, and I declare myself as the biggest Rush fan I know or have ever met!

  • I don't get why this album was rated so low. I think it is one of their best ones. The songs on it are so powerful and moving!

  • We named a song after the first words in this song, Basic Elemental. Conky & Shash baby :) Song is posted on this profile.
