  • Is ubuntu good for games and no lagg?

  • I'd say yes, but that also depends on your PC. Ubuntu has gotten a bit bloated over the years. For a more low-latency distribution that is still easy to use, and still offers the ability to easily enable astonishing effects, I recommend Dreamlinux.

  • lol tu pc necesita ser más potente para poder correr el compiz de la manera adecuada xD

  • nice

  • DreamLinux is the only Linux for me! :)

  • That's actually my current Linux distro. Hehe.

  • Do you know the name of the song. Could you please find out, cause it sounds awesome. thanks

  • Heartbreake Short Patric la Funk

  • hey man how did you get the background in the cube?

  • There are lots of places where you can get these images. Basically, any panoramic image will often work. Just make sure that you have the Compiz Control Panel, and it will be available in the Desktop Cube options.

  • Great music taste, lovely desktop action, Thumbs up!

  • Thanks!

  • Haha i have ubunt 8.04 8.10 has problems just not ready for release so dont upgrade unless your not a noob :D also anyone with ps3 i prefer feodra 9 or ubuntu 7.10

feodora 10 is to slow and ubuntu 8.XX starts to slow down to so ya ubuntu 7.10 10/10

  • I do have yet to try out some less resource-hogging distros. Right now I'm using Dreamlinux, which has been beyond my expectations, and installed in under 5 minutes. It's also Debian-based like Ubuntu without being a resource hog.

As far as the Playstation3, I'll have to wait until I can afford one to test. Heck, if Puppy Linux runs on it, I'll recommend it. I don't know why this video gets so many views, when my others do not... Maybe because Ubuntu is such a "popular" distribution for newbs.

  • nice i heard it doest have a media player and you cant play vids from your game os is that true?

  • my bad i just noticed this wasnt running on the ps3 do u know if its the same on ps3 i just set up my new 250gb hard for a os debating between this and ydl 6.1 any suggestions?

  • The Playstation3 has its own variant of Linux available, but it costs money. A google search might come up with something more free though.

  • Someone just recommended Fedora 9 or Ubuntu 7.10. I also notice that Dreamlinux is not very resource-hoggish. It may run smoothly. From what it seems, (at least what I can gather) the PS3 is just a computer with "game console" tagged to its description.

  • how do you do the cube thing?

  • Compiz-Fusion. Install it, along with the extras, and the control panel for it.

Then you can enable it. To rotate, ctrl+alt+Left-click to rotate freehand, or ctrl+alt+arrow keys to quick rotate.

  • Hey, I downloaded Ubuntu, and its running really slow, and nothing is loading on it.....whats wrong?

  • It will run really slow if you are running it from the CD. Once installed onto your computer (Double-click the install icon, and go through the easy steps) it will run much better. No CD needed.

There is also the possibility that your PC is really slow.

  • when I click download, it asks me the first question (language) and then freezes and starts being an asshole....what now?

  • There are a few possibilities.

    1. It didn't download right. Check the md5sum

    2. Your computer doesn't have enough RAM to handle it. You need at least 512 MB for the latest version.

  • How do I get that city in the background like yours?

  • Loooong process in Ubuntu if you don't know what you are doing. Basically, install your nVidia/ATI drivers, install Compiz, and additional effects, and control panel. The settings will all be in there for you to customize.

  • i see lag!!! man i disable a lot of stuff with from compiz. but hey man your computer has part from 1998!!! rock on bro!!

  • You know, that lag isn't there unless I'm recording. I should have used an outside medium to record. ;_;

  • You artist guys really know how to pimp ubuntu. No matter how i do it, it nvr looks good. I mean never as good as yours :)

  • Experiment with the options. You'll get there.

  • nice song, artist?

  • I forget, actually. But it's one of the free Audio Overlay songs they have here on youtube (I think that's what they are called... Something like that. lol"

  • damit i had hardy set up the way liked it and lost everything w intrepid.

dam 8.10 is slower sound config for me w pulse aud is the worst experience ever and my mouse keylogger setup is always screwed dam.

But hey, beggars cant be choosers. And I admire the love and the drive of you pros who are advancing these OS programs for free and I respect you.

Flash bugs or not, my brain is at least half full and I can usually work the kinks out of my systems.

Im 6 for 6 for computer builds.

  • Well, at least it's not Suse with KDE4. That new Plasma desktop makes me wanna puke.

  • Yeah am currently studing linux right now at school and our teacher is making use opensuse with KDE4 plasma i truly hate that interface.

  • Nice.. But intrepid is not all there. Im still using 8.04.I tried intrepid and didnt like it at all. Its too slow for me. 8.04 is better as dat is my opinion. Upgrading is not always better. As i can tell on for what ive seen heard and even tried. Ill maybe wait another six months. and try. but i like what u have done with yours even though the recording was slow.lol. Its good though.

  • thanks

  • True. Even some of the developers have been quoted on saying that 8.10 wasn't quite ready for release, and that PulseAudio should have never been introduced as it's a pain to configure properly.

  • Please what icon theme pleeeeeeaaaaseeeeeeeee

  • Umm... I think it was the High Contrast SVG... it comes with Ubuntu. Or at least it did with 8.04. I used 'update-manager -d' to upgrade to 8.10, since the new kernel doesn't like to install fresh on my particular system.

  • Btw whats the song ?

  • Unfortunately, it is very choppy. At the looks of it, you would think the computer is from 1996. But I have a feeling that it could have went smooth until you started recording it. The recording might have got too few framerates, like 18 FPS maybe..

  • Yeah... I should have used my phone to record it or something....

  • poor

  • Poor quality? Or poor operating system? Poor computer perhaps? I would appreciated more than a one-word generalization.

  • Poor Ubuntu 8.10 preview. Not much previewing but desktop effects.

  • This is a preview for compiz fusion, not Ubuntu.

  • Still Ubuntu. Desktop effects included, and I even missed some. I'm sorry if I disappointed you.
