Thank's for posting this!! I first heard the audio of this as a teenager, in the 1990's. There was a radio program called: "Big Band Jump", & they did an episode on Johnny Mercer. They played this verson & I really liked it, much better than any other version I'd heard.
Fortunately, I made a reel-to-reel recording of the broadcast, so I could listen to it. But, I never had an opportunity to see the film footage, `till today! So, THANK'S AGAIN for posting it!!!!
@ednayarkspay Actually, Alfred Drake was the original Curley, while Dixon played "Will Parker." Also some sites list Dixon's birth as 1910, which would've meant he was 43 when he died. Trivial details I suppose...still, a tragic death.
Also Ross Alexander, who does the dictating in the first portion, shot himself before the film was released, as he was about to be outed by the tabloids of the day. Two sad, sad stories...both underrated performers.
thank you for the song - the best version of a classic.

Lee Dixon was the original "Curley" in the show Oklahoma. A severe alcoholic, he died at age 38 in 1953.
