@TMAT09 So, in other words, dudes like Pete Rock, DJ Premier, 9th, J Dilla, Hi-Tek, Khrysis...their jobs were all "easy?" Yeah; I guess Scott Storch is better than producers who 99% of hip-hop heads consider to be the greatest of all-time. Sampling is NOT easy. Saying "anyone could do it" is silly, because if that were the case, then there would be a hell of a lot more producers out there.
@TMAT09 The fact that you came in here and said "sampled music is annoying, I don't get it" proves that you do not understand hip-hop at ALL. If you did, you would know that hip-hop was built upon sampling. Also, putting Scott Storch in the same BREATH as 9th Wonder proves that you really know jack about hip-hop. So go listen to your Lil Waynes, Gucci Manes, and Young Jeezys and leave the real hip-hop to people like us.
Definitely on of my favorite beats by 9th. Check my video response for my take on the David Ruffin sample. I'm also looking for anyone who can freestyle, nasty lyricists, all around flowists and straight spittas to give a go around on my beats. PM me and we'll hook it up. "
I met 9th like a couple of months ago and wanted to talk about this song and couldnt think about what to call it......to me this is one of his best beat.....so fucking sick.....
I own an MPC 3000, 2000xl and S950 and tried maschine. FL Studio is my main weapon of choice for creativity...it just gets a bad rep because of people like lex luger and all the other retards who dont sample but use fl studio. For sampling fl is so quick and easy...for recording, not so much. Pro Tools for vocals all day.
it's actually just like a mpc when you use fl studio. like slice X + piano roll. All producers had back in the day were mpc's and other hardware nothing expensive. If pete rock, dilla or someone like that had a computer based program when they came up, it would be crazy and more creative. Fl studio is good all you need is piano roll and a creative thought process to make a lot of stuff on there. It don't matter what you use really.
You really develop an appreciation for his chopping if you chop samples yourself and what really impresses me is how he can chop a sample and make it real melodic and sound like a loop when he does R&B.I love primo but I want some variety sometime from the chops like a 1 bar or 2 bar loop.
@CanvassBlack I can see you don't have an elementary mindset when it comes to sampling because alot of ppl don't and you would be surprised. Please check out more of dillas work choping beyond recognition is his specialty and also finding samples in unique places like underground turkish rock artists these samples get confused alot of times with him playing around with a synthesizer. 9th likes to chop to create different melodies
@ADSLOWW 9th got that soul down like dilla but when it comes to the drums 9th is lacking...I still havent heard drums like dilla had and some ppl like kanye devote alot of time to em...9th goes str8 stock with em...but he gets that head nodding everytime hes is easily one of the most talented producers of this era
@sliccmoufschalaa Yeah 9th puts minimal attention to his drums but his chopping skills are way better than Dillas.Remember 9th's a combination of Dj Premier(The chops) RZA(The ooh's and aah's, the vocal samples and the time stretching) and Dilla(the Soul and basslines)9th's chopping though is his strongest strength.

@sliccmoufschalaa Dilla a better chopper-no way. I'll give Dilla his props for basslines and creating that neo-soul. I saw an old Dilla DVD and Peanut Butter Wolf was talking about when Dilla made Donuts. @datboifresh12 yeah good point man. Fruity Loops isn't even that bad. It's got some cool ass next level shit on it. it's probably one of the best sequencers around along with logic pro, cubase, ableton, reason and others which you may of heard of. So don't knock it till you've tried it people!

He's wearing gloves because his hands obviously get cold. I've had to wear some thin gloves while making beats because they would get cold and it would be hard to work.
Everybodies talkin bout da way I carry myself- Sayin I'm a dead man, I should burry myself- Actin like a Russian on Rulette dat hurried himself- Sort of like a Movie, are we feelin scared of ourselves- Enemies be throwin hater jabs workin my nerves- Sellin packs had a nigga noid scared of da birds/ Smokin up da competition kept him sellin da herb- Back in 88, Tippin cane was hittin hard- It's 010, dat nigga James is spittin bars- A small frie, actin like I live in Biggies yard.
Cologne I smell exquisite/ Young focused about my digits/ Temp fade, waves ever so gently spinning/I throw the specs on/turn the opposite on/ Don't pull every one that i spot/ You thinkin ugly. feel that i'm not/ Adjust ya eyes i think that you were lookin wrong/or I proposed a dance on an inappropriate song/She had da ass/pass on the kid/ satin dress with the thong/caramel skin/plump with some lips/nips as sweet as reese cups/gave me rap but now she easin up/ Caramel girl of my dreams.
never would i reject a beat like this so smooth wit the likeness of my rap attack swingin on my foes wit my battle axe what i meant to say was my microphone im home alone like mukuly culkin chicken heads definitely in the bathroom fuckin once said by B.I.G. got double the power that's word to my siamese!!!
@MehyarTV why u hating..that nigga rose to the top from his momma basement n thats more then you can say for yourself so shut ur fucking pie hole bitch. 9th wonder is ill
I read an interview where 9th said there are a few impostor Black Album beats cd's. He said the cd he submitted to Jay Z had only 22 beats and said he'[s seen some cd's with as many as 39 beats he supposedly gave hov. Some are old 9th beats that were never released.
i would have loved to hear jay over this, its has that early jay feel.. so upset jigga on some other with the times bullshhit now... my fave mc of all time making bs music now.. the only thing close to that old jay sound was "thank you".. but still this beat murders anything on BP3
Ive had this joint on repeat like 100 times and it still sounds fresh every single time. Much props to 9th, top ten in my book for best beat makers of all time.
i agree that phonte would smash this as he does everything else, but saying jay wouldnt have done this justice? crazy talk, remember this was black album era jay. jigga absolutely shitted on "threats".. he would have killed this without a doubt...
no shit man, this song would've gone off, if jay used it the deserving exposure it would get, no one and i mean NO ONE would be able to hate on this beat, it'd be illegal cuz it's that hot.
this goes hard

Brokewax 1 year ago
@Brokewax what 9th wonder have you been listening too? all his beats are crazy man.
donovan022 1 year ago
He's wearing gloves because his hands obviously get cold. I've had to wear some thin gloves while making beats because they would get cold and it would be hard to work.

is that 9th in that pic?
Dani2300one 1 year ago
I read an interview where 9th said there are a few impostor Black Album beats cd's. He said the cd he submitted to Jay Z had only 22 beats and said he'[s seen some cd's with as many as 39 beats he supposedly gave hov. Some are old 9th beats that were never released.

i would have loved to hear jay over this, its has that early jay feel.. so upset jigga on some other with the times bullshhit now... my fave mc of all time making bs music now.. the only thing close to that old jay sound was "thank you".. but still this beat murders anything on BP3
StrosB4Hos 2 years ago 3
Ive had this joint on repeat like 100 times and it still sounds fresh every single time. Much props to 9th, top ten in my book for best beat makers of all time.
jagarcia1 2 years ago
9th Wonder is the truth....Jay didn't deserve this beat no way, he would not have done it any justus. Phonte would've killed this!!
vasquezt 2 years ago
Jay definitely lost out. That's the rap industry for you though. Politics.
kevman77 2 years ago
i agree that phonte would smash this as he does everything else, but saying jay wouldnt have done this justice? crazy talk, remember this was black album era jay. jigga absolutely shitted on "threats".. he would have killed this without a doubt...
StrosB4Hos 2 years ago
i think jay missed out cuz this beat RAW
taimaishu1 2 years ago
no shit man, this song would've gone off, if jay used it the deserving exposure it would get, no one and i mean NO ONE would be able to hate on this beat, it'd be illegal cuz it's that hot.
