Looks like it's over, you knew I couldn't stay She's comin' home today We had a good thing, I'll miss your sweet love Why must you look at me that way? It's over Sad eyes, turn the other way I don't wanna see you cry Sad eyes, you knew there'd come a day When we would have to say "goodbye" Try to remember the magic that we shared In time your broken heart will mend I never used you, you knew I really cared I hate to see it have to end....
hey!! I didnt come here!! YOU TUBE BASTAS.... wait... oooh, is this sad eyes the original!!!! You knew there'd come a day!!!!!!WHOOOO!!!!! WHO is that in the BACK!!!!!!!
I so agree, even though I think this era was slightly before my time. If there was still music being made today like this though, perhaps the older stuff would not be so special. I mean, I consider it genius for a reason, otherwise it would just be commonplace.
Thank goodness it can be listened to a million times over, and still be just as powerful!
"Sad Eyes" has always teared me up everytime I hear it on the radio. There is something about it that just gets me all teary eyed. Robert John performs it beautifully. One of the best songs from 1979..........just love it. Bob
For some reason many seem to miss the underlying statements of this song and simply label it as a break up song. Yes, it is a break up song, but it is also a song about an affair.
"Looks like it's over, you knew I couldn't stay. She's coming home today." "Sad eyes, you knew there'd come a day when we would have to say goodbye."
Regardless, I still love the sound and think this is a great song. Thanks for sharing.
i am so glad I rediscovered this jewel. we all will forever love our years of youth and adolescence. this song makes me dance, dream, you name it. 54 now and oops, with this song I am 23. believe me. looking forward to tonight, yes am going out and gonna find me some eyes, not sad. helmut.
I always have enjoyed this 1979 pop song, it's synonomus with the 70's, and after three decades, there hasn't been a better break up song done since this one, timeless music.
Very sad song ....and if you listen to the lyrics, it seems to be about a guy telling his lover their affair is over because his wife's coming home.
