This game got me to listen to Fear Factory, which did some songs in the soundtrack, including the music for the intro cinematic.

This game looks like it would be awesome if it was given a faithful remake. But I would be too afraid that the game designers would completely ruin the game.

Carma2 has more glitches - including getting your vehicle 'glued' to a post or wall, black walls underwater, etc. but meh. This version no longer works properly for me, but the best vehicle to waste opponents and cops in high level races was Pitbull's Towmeister (in C2 he has the big dump truck and only appears in 1 race). Personally, if it worked properly, I would go back to this version in a flash. More carnage, and less software glitches. C2 crashes more than the cars.

Oh the memories! The first time I played this game was in high school, and I literally mean IN high school. In Metal Shop, our teacher was cool as shit. He didn't care what we did, so a kid brought in Carmageddon and loaded it on to EVERY computer in the computer lab, totaling 10 computers. We sat in there at the end of the day, playing Carmageddon and the teacher gave us all As. The perfect class!

@darthbandon10 I can't believe I failed to mention the method I'm using to play this game. It's called Glidos, and it's able to render a lot of old 3D games like Carmageddon and Tomb Raider with more modern cards at higher resolutions. It costs $10 but I found it to be a worthwhile investment.

When I'm in the front of the pack, I always like to back into the guy behind me for some quick bonus damage. At least it worked in C2, but I'm not sure if it did in the first one.

It's actually really hard to get yourself Wasted in this game, unlike C2.

Carmageddon is a legend. Only the first one though. The sequels were crap. I wish someone would make a proper Carmageddon.

The new Motorstorm lets you run people over in an apocolyptic setting (so there's cool things like spikes on your car, etc.). No exploding bodies and blood tire tracks, but it's a start I guess.

Ok i just got the game but i have a lot of problem s

first how do you get the higher resolution cuz mine is horrible.

second, the timer goes way waaay too fast, despite all the destruction and killing I do i never last over 5 minutes playing the first race(I cant bloody finish it).

I still remember being a kid and seeing a news report about the controversy over this game. At the time I thought it looked like the most gruesome game evar, for realz, because that's about as realistic as graphics got back then.

As a teenager I actually played the game, and loved it to bits. I still do! I remember playing it to the strains of "Chemical Heart" on the radio... those were the days!

I wish my copy still worked. :(

@QueenTragedy I remember a news report as well. in the one I saw it was some kind of convention in the UK or something like that, then they played "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba at it. Now every time I hear "Tubthumping" I think of that news clip. I had shareware version of this game back in the mid '90s, but my PC didn't like the full version for some reason.

this game rocks!!! the carmageddon series were the only racing games that were in a sandbox environment. Also with other car smashing games, it's more about guns mounted onto vehicles, i remember one argued and i agreed, with carmageddon there was more action packed car crashes involved than any other racing game. Besides they always had a good variety of road vehicles.
