In 2006 British troops entered Helmand province to protect civillian reconstruction teams with the British defence secretary famously saying we'd be happy to leave without a single shot fired. The taliban had other ideas and started attacking the small British outposts, we've reinforced and now there are 200 new schools and health clinics in the province, the hydroelectric has been renovated and irrigation systems updated... You know fuck all.

How many people actually are in the Taliban? Its weird, we have some 100,000 marines and soldiers in Afghanistan, for about 10 years now, and seems like nothing is changing. You'd think there are only a frew thousand people in the taliban and the military would have killed them all by now, if you take in account how many bombs have been dropped on that country and many ground engagments have occured. I just don't understand this war anymore.

@TheSlayer13x the training wusnt bad. boot camp wasnt easy but it wusnt impossible. if ur goin grunt (east coast) SOI east can get pretty miserable. but its nothing like the fleet. im close to the end of our workup about to hit afghanistan in a lil while. u will be bottom of the barrel when u get to the fleet. ull ask urself why u ever joined the infantry and ull hate pogs cus they rate medium regs and u as a boot gotta bic ur head. or at least a high and stupid. u wont be shit til u deploy.

The constant attacks to the FOB, then there the freaking suicide bombing shit, they almost got the CO in that deployment with a suicide vest, till the second deployment. I was also In Nowasad fro a week. those fucking patrols had me with Jesus between my lips. and I'm not very religious.
