Jean Carne is too complex and advanced to be linked to MC. As for Minnie, the only thing MC took from her was the whistling ability, because as for purity AND clarity of sound, MC lacks that. In fact, MC failed to copy the whistling technique correctly, hence her nodules.
safe to say that she and Minnie Riperton are the ones that opened the door for a singer like Mariah Carey. It really doesnt get much better than Jean Carne, when u talk about the purity of a voice.
@MisterCrazyLegs Absolutely right. Its a shame the world didn't get to know more about her. Well respected in her own genre but not that well know ouitside of it. I agree Minnie Ripperton was very influencial as an artist but not sure about Jean Carne as much as I love her?

Thanx for all that knowledge! The only thing I need to know is just how good she is!
I met her a few years back after a concert at the Jazz cafe, very down-to-earth lady. What a privilege!
