Omg I just finished trying this with an old tie-dye shirt and it came out so cute with a cami underneath! Thanks so much, your videos are great! <3 I have to try the others now!
Hi Whitney! At age 56 and bad economy I am revisting the ideas of reconstructing old clothes. I have been sewing for most of my life. But I really love all the ideas all the young kids have now. You are one of my favorites of all the videos out there because you give true and accurate directions for cute ideas but using real sewing terms and methods. I made similar things when tiedye was a NEW idea! HA! Hippies were broke, using scarfs for tops and redid thrift store clothes was what we did too!
Just want u to know that I think u r awesome! I've learned so much from u. U r a great teacher and really sweet to take the time to make these videos.
Great video's. I'm a 47 year old man who's been sewing since highschool, I learned in a class called Bachelor Living. Your video's are cool how your re-purposing things. I loved your cutting demonstration in this video, it made me laugh.
i love the shirt that you are wearing in this video...did you make that or did you buy it? if you made it...could you do a tutorial on how to make one?
btw, can i use any kind of chalk to mark with...or does it have to be special clothing chalk? please advice. Thanks
@mispochos i had to go closer to 7" on the back to get it to hang right on me but it was an easy fix. just trimmed small amounts away until i got it how i wanted it.
Thank you for postings. I was wondering if you can show how to sew an Indian type dress.( I don't now the name, but it's more like a plain top with simple stitchings)
@78dev If you mean a dress, they're called sarees. :) They're basically a seperate top that stops above your waist and a long piece of fabric that you twist around your body. If your talking about a shirt, those are called Kurti. They can be made of cotton, silk and other types of fabric.
I like the shirt you have on in this video! Any chance you could show us how to make that? The draping neckline is very flattering and looks great on you.
Megan was on an episode of Threadbanger recently, showing one of the tutorials from the first book. I haven't seen the second yet, but this project is cool. She's amazing.
Her name is actually pronounced differently than it looks, which I didn't know until she introduced herself on Threadbanger lol.
I really like the draped shirt you're wearing in the video. Do you have a tutorial for that one?

@pandygal Thanks. I don't have a tutorial on it...sorry.

did you know about ThreadBangers when you did this?
NicholeLaqueesha 3 months ago
I'm just wondering how to do it so that it's more tank top style rather than halter. This is a pretty easy way to have it halter/backless, tho.

@Phaythful I did make that shirt...youtube isn't letting me post the link in this comment so I'll message it to you.
Any basic school chalk or sidewalk chalk will work (I use sidewalk chalk)

Thanks so much! I have the book, but I'm visual. So sometimes it is better for me to see the video tutorial instead of just reading instructions.

I'm the same way! I can't always understand something just by reading it, I have to see pictures or a video.

I also saw the Threadbanger tutorial of this same item but yours was MUCH more simple. Thank you. :3

thanks but should there be a seem at the front?
kejah08 2 years ago
Not unless your shirt started out with a side seam because the side of the original shirt is the front of your new shirt.

Your tutorial was a little easier to follow than the one on threadbanger, good job
