It also depends on the camera. A camcorder doesn't actually take one streaming video, it takes a whole lot of single pictures and strings them together along with the audio to give that illusion. So, there could have been muzzle flash that happened between the pictures. This happened when filming the movie Scarface with Al Pacino. During the last gun fight scene, they had to figure out a way to sync up the camera with the gunshots so it would pick up every muzzle flash.
