That actually wasn't an auto land. The pilot disconnected the autopilot just before touchdown meaning that the autopilot didn't land the airplane. Just a normal CAT III approach.
@blakman7 sort of. Wasn't totally normal. Without the autoland the pilots could not have gotten as far as they did. When they passed decision height, 200ft AGL, they still didn't have the runway. Only with autoland engaged can a plane pass that without seeing the runway. The auto pilot even did the auto-flare, just not the roll-out. You're not going to get flare without autoland on. I'd call it an autoland for sure.
hahaha what a funny thing!! I first thought it's just another poor visibility landing posted on YouTube and was short before of stop watching it till the end, then didn't realize the GPWS stopped callouts at 20 ft short of landing so I had to watch it twice afterwards. Funniest moment when they vacate the RWY and began laughing ^^
I belive its pretty normal because the pilots disengaged the AP on the moment of 10, so the plane noticed it was on the ground so it said ten, still a very small bug :P
Well, the GPWS call "10" seems to come straight after the speed brakes lever retraction sound. Since the autopilot was disengaged right at the 10 call, it's kinda like the GPWS kept it on hold until then. Funny...:-)
From which source does the 10 feet measure come from?
Altimeter, Gps, radio altimeters, ILS or gyroscopes?
If I am not wrong in manual commands landing the left or right radio altimeters are used depending on who is in command, what happens in autolanding mode?
@flightmachine001 GWPS failure sometimes it happens that GWPS know where you are but not correctly how high , know that failure form cessnas and cirrus props but on an jumbo :D^^
@ArticMuse right... thats why they call them scare buses. At least Boeings can't suffer from blue screens of death. Also I've never seen a brand new Boeing suffer from random engine explosions. Seriously... the A380 is the HUGEST waste of money ever.
@JamesCameron1 You do know that Boeing or Airbus don't make engines right? Also how is it a huge waste of money? Are you an expert in that field? Real experts say that Airbus will break even on the A380 by 2014 and therefore be making a profit thereafter. The blue screen issue you bring up is just wrong, I'm not even going to debate it. I wish I could sweep you fanboys under the rug...
@JamesCameron1 Dude, screw you. About the 787. That thing can explode from lightning because most of it is composite, boeing said. We'll work later on that problem. Whilst Airbus is working on thier A350 and they solved it, stating that the 787 is the most unsafe aircraft ever created.
The engine explosions are to blame to CRAPPY ROLLS ROYS.
@JamesCameron1 Regarding that boeing V.S. airbus thing is tidious, both are great. Airbus is just allot more progressive whilst boeing is allot more conservative, I'd say hypocrete because they eventually implented FWB on their new planes.
@186771054 Actually, pilots are to re-check that they've both got the correct altimeter setting and that altitude corresponds to what it should be at that point in the descent/approach. So yes, I am correct when I say they need to adjust the altimeter setting. Regardless of whether using TCAS or AFCS.
@alaskagirl1978 The Callouts are Rad alt based, nothing to do with the height above sea level or what they have set on their Altimeters. Most modern EICAS boeings tell you when you've forgot to set the altimeter setting as you program the transition level, and they also tell you if the 2 pilots have set different settings.
@BakoFlyer24 Its accually a CATIII A, due to the decision height being lower than 100 meters, And the autopilot was turned off before landing.......just sayin
@jjtc100 b/c its supposed to say "ten" when it's actually 10feet off the ground. Not when its already on the ground. It failed b/c it's supposed to be precise.

Dear All,
I have some question about psychology:
(1) Why do we love flying and piloting an aeroplane?
(2) Why does the outlook of flight instruments give a great feeling of accuarcy, precision and reliability?
(3) What are the environment factors in the cockpit give us a feeling of "controlling" and the feeling of "enpowered"?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
