  • sorry to say but bad composition... everything was in the middle in film that is bad. only in certain times is that okay... plus jump cuts galore, but other than that good job

  • This film looks amazing! very High quality.....

  • Great, I ended up here, looking for some info on the Opteka CXS-1 system. How do you like it? Is it stable? Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer and good luck on the short movie!

  • @mcphatstudios Hey thanks for the question, I would love to answer. To be honest, I havn't found much use for the shoulder rig apart from actually using it to film this test, before buying it I would recomend to anyone to think about what they will actually film with it. It is a very stable and solid rig, it definitely is worth the money and there is the option to add to it with a range of tripod bolt holes. Hope this helps :)

  • @RedSpectrumPictures Now, that's what I call a fast answer. Thanks for that. We've been looking at some equipment to make stable DLSR video (D7000's), mostly panning (we shoot aviation, no humans) and the tripods we use now suck (to say the least). The CXS-1 is on sale here now, so the price is do-able at the moment. Anyways, thanks again, really appreciate it!

  • I thot it was pretty cool!!!..It takes alotta work to put in the sounds and stuff! Good job! Cool colors too!!!

  • @RedSpectrumPictures...*reads title* Fuck a big apology to the director.. Oh and thanks for correcting me RSP.

  • @SilviotheBlade1 yer no problem

  • @SilviotheBlade1 yer no problem

  • soooo he just walks around. Huh just like a Daft Punk music video (NO DISRESPECT DAFT PUNK)!!!

  • @SilviotheBlade1 if you actually read the title, it reads 'test', so think before making yourself look like a complete idiot by commenting

  • great video:D

  • yall should really make this,

  • those half cabs? (sneakers?

  • ive got that mask.... Ebay 20ish punds... [Nato Gas mask from the 80s]

  • @TalynFilms

Yer its a cheap airsoft mask from ebay :P

  • Nice Job! I loved the angles and the music

  • @FROSTYxTRIX

Thanks, glad you like it, please check some of my newer videos out, I think you would like them

    - Red Spectrum Pictures

  • I lol'd when I saw sneakers under camo pants.

  • nice sneakers ...

  • @tpmgx6 thanks :)

  • This is Great! When will you be filming Depletion?? The upper view of the guy on the bridge was my favorite shot! Amazing work!

  • @MoonsgateProductions I scrapped the idea ages ago, however I will always have it as an option as something to film

  • @RedSpectrumPictures Do what you have to do, what's your next project?

  • @MoonsgateProductions Im filming a 'film noir', and it will get done, I have everything planned, just need to film now

  • I think it would have been cool if once it faded to black you heard a gun shot and the guy toppling over.

  • @hobocamptheater

great idea, if I ever do get a short film made in this genre, I will keep something like that in mind for the end. Would be great if you checked out some of my newer videos with my Canon 600d dslr camera

  • i've never liked that finnish gas mask, it looks like you have a fucking huge nose or something lol. really awesome movie anyay!

  • @timewasteland Thanks, glad you liked it, and yer I always thought the mask looked odd, :)

  • the bug out bag is too small and the gas mask looks kind of jews..

  • this cinematography in this was great, i almost bought this same gas mask but the big nose thing put me off haaa

  • hey redspectrum, i really like the test now i have a serious and non critizing question: which mic would u recommend me to use bcuz im making a short film myself but the sound quality on my camera is shit mainly the actor's voice, can u please send me a msg back on ur recommendation? thanks alot man really appreciate it

  • @d3xthem3x

I would highly recomend that you get the rode videomic, its around £100 and is perfect for the filmmaker like you or me. Also if your camera doenst have audio inputs, get the zoom h1 which is the cheapest field recorder which has audio inputs. and im glad you liked my test

  • @RedSpectrumPictures i think this is awsome nice camera work im in the mist of producion on a short zombie film and this is really good keep up the good work!

  • @d3xthem3x use wireless lavs and the zoom recording(i personally use the h4n. The only issue i have with the other rode mic is the fact that it is directional and distant dependent. Lets say you wanted to distant shot with audio you are gonna be out of luck with shotgun ..unless you mic the area with a boom. obviously the more mics and equipment the better just offering a different opinion. Checkout my videos, 2 use lavs one uses an onboard mic, you will easily hear the difference

  • nothing special

  • @RedBrothersFilms

well if you could read, you would find out it was a test video, so it was never aimed to be entertaining,

  • @RedSpectrumPictures I have read but the work of the cameraman isn't very good, I understood (when i first watched) that this is just a test, I understood ;)

  • @RedBrothersFilms

anyways your just another hater who hasnt got anything better to do, why dont you make some films yourself before telling others there work is bad, then you can come back and criticise me

  • @RedSpectrumPictures im not hater man, relax... i just don't like your video and thats it, you dont need to kill me just because your works is bad..

  • @RedSpectrumPictures I'm not hater man, relax. I just don't like your video.

  • @RedBrothersFilms

well give me a reason in your first comment saying why you dont like it, before putting pointless and childish comments

  • @RedSpectrumPictures I did... The mix of song and video is not good, the camera work is not good, the outfit looks idiotic.. Place doesn't fit... Only thing is good is camera itself. Just because someone talks against your film doesn't mean its childish.

  • bug maybe

  • @RedSpectrumPictures to be fair, you do not need to do something in order to criticize someone's work. Afterall people criticize Hitler and they're not fascist dictators. It's what is known as an ad hominem logical fallacy. However, I really like this test, when are you filming this short?

  • Considering this was a test it looked good. Keep up the good work.

  • Dude that is cool, awesome job!

  • @DECTWENTYONE2012

    thanks, really appreciate it

  • I love the way you film, it's amaizing,,,,,my bro's direct film's and I write them alot,,,soo I love a good short one,,,and you's is wonderful lov♥♥♥♥♥ thumb's uppppppp♥

  • Did you notice there was a frame every now and again that didn't have a vignette and no color correction? Just pointing that out.

  • Нормально, успехов в дальнейшем!

  • Stalker soundtrack?

    Great job :)

  • really nice man ! i got the same cam but cant seem to get this type of quality :( !

but really great stuff dude !

  • @CrystalStonesMedia if your not rendering the footage out correctly, you wont achieve the quality,

  • What were the rendering settings in Vegas?

  • @GanEdenAustralia just full 25 fps 1080p, which was what i filmed in

  • just an idea for a shot...when you show the empty water bottle...leave the cap spout off first of all... and do a close up in slo-mo of ONE drop coming out. Maybe some dried blood on the gun in another quick close up.

  • Finnish M61 version 3 gas mask with standard filter?

  • @andrewesquivel

thats correct, its an airsoft mask :)

  • @RedSpectrumPictures well...you COULD use it for airsoft, but it actually a real gas mask. A bad one if you intend to use it for deadly toxins, but a nice look never the less.

  • that gas mask has a nose lol

  • Niiice.

    good job. Looks great.

I have the same camcorder... But I don't have Sony Vegas, I got adobe after effects and premier pro. I need to learn how to do this film effect in adobe.

  • @trumansnare its a great camcorder, im hoping to get a canon t2i soon though,

  • @RedSpectrumPictures

    Lol I know.

My buddy just sold his XSi and bought a t2i.

    Its very very nice.

The only thing it lacks from this camcorder is the zoom.

It would cost tons of money to get the amount of zoom from this SD60 in a DSLR lens.

Were gonna take some Macro video with his t2i. So hopefully ill have that uploaded soon.

  • @trumansnare

zoom isnt really needed in film making, its more of a novelty in camcorders, message me with your video when its uploaded, cant wait to see it

  • @RedSpectrumPictures

Yea I know. Its not used much in films.

I use my zoom quite a bit when traveling or on vacation and video taping wildlife/scenery and stuff. But the video on the t2i isn't meant for everyday use like that.

Ill let you know when I finally get a video up. :)

  • Very nice work, interesting music! Watch out for the vignette changes though!

  • @therondoshow glad you liked it, and ive got the vignette changes sorted for when i do the real thing

  • Nice hi-def and camera work/angles - the costume and setting were very well done too - good stuff - develop this into a full story and I will watch it for sure

  • looks really good :) and i LOVE the locations you've used, those are swesome! looking forward to seeing the complete movie :D

  • WOAH I LOVE LUCAZADE!!!!

  • @emojo1990

and this is relavant why? i like it aswell :)

  • @RedSpectrumPictures you have a bottle of it in ur hand at the beginning lol, i take notice of those kinda things

  • @emojo1990

    it was just water :)

  • I suppose so.

  • I loved this, great footage used and the camcorder is great!

  • @DaveEdwards97

thanks, really glad that you enjoyed it :)

  • Don't make it about zombies, think of something new and original...

  • @Haggoggie

were still planning it now, were definitely having it in a post apocalyptic location which we know about, were not sure what else to have though, but were not going to make the zombies look stupid or rediculosly funny or anything, were just having the people which have died from the deadly toxins in the air sort of come back to life a ltitle bit, i know that is a zombie, but hopefully you know what i mean

  • You found some really nice locations to film, the music is not overpowering, the colour looks dark yet vibrant and the costume is fantatsic. I can't wait to see the full film.

  • @Flurbdurb thanks so much, realy glad you liked it, there will be many more tests to come before the actual film, I want this to beas good as posible, if you have any tips, that would be great!

  • I love it!!! Great footage!

There is some weird stuff going on with the vignette (might be from the compression codec you uesd... not sure) but all in all a great look.

I love the foggy day and the awesome location... really cool!

    Can't wait to see more!!!

  • @AORPAD

    thanks, glad you liked it

  • this looks really good so wat time is the real thing going to be on youtube

  • @dtrevino9

thank you, glad you liked it. We are just in the planning stage really, the pen and paper stage. It may be up in a couple of months, or more because I am right in the middle of exam season and its our final year at secondary school. but if you subscribed you can keep track when its been uploaded

  • @RedSpectrumPictures ok will do

  • The shadows on the edges were really distracting to me... if you are to use them, try to have them on at all times so the viewer doesn't consciously notice them

    but overall, nice job

  • @bolinskyman

yer sorry about that, I didnt know it was doing that when i was editing, it was because i had it on different video layers, and when there was a video clip under another one, it went darker. but glad you liked it

  • Definitely subbed. Really hoping to see more of this soon.

  • @Goltzbaby

thank you, glad you liked it ! :)

  • hey thanks for the kinds words on my short! I'm really feeling the mood you're establishing in this scene, and can't wait to see the final project.

  • @andrewX360

glad you liked it, there were a few small problems, but thats why we made this, to sort the problems out before the actual film shoot

  • holy crap, that looks awesome! can't wait!!!!

  • @TheRebellionFilms

glad you liked it, we made this so people would look forward to the actual film, and for practice towards the actual film.

  • where did u shoot it? the setting was perfect for post-apocalypse.

  • @mrpineconehead

it was just in our local village quarry. We havnt been to all the quarry yet, but theres an abandoned part with massive factories and everything, so hopefully that will be the setting for the actual zombie apocalypse film when we make it. glad you liked it aswell, it was just a test

  • @RedSpectrumPictures ive been trying 2 do a post-apocalyptic movie but theres not anywhere where i live that would be good for an apocalyptic feel.

  • @mrpineconehead

Me and my freind were saying for months that there isnt anywere good to film were we live, but weve come across so much in the last few weeks just from going out and looking really. You just have to explore were you wouldnt usually go, like in our case the quarry, we never thought of going there

  • @RedSpectrumPictures there is one park nearby that might be good. now that i think of it my friend has a lodge up in the mountains thats not too far away. thanks for the advice though

  • @mrpineconehead

good luck with your film, send it to me or respond it to this video, i would love to see it

  • ich fersteh das video nicht

  • @Eichipower Was gibts da zu verstehen?

  • @Eichipower it wasnt his video, its mine

  • the vignette keeps getting darker and lighter randomly :|

  • @Discriminationn

sorry about that, i had three video layers, and just put the vignette on every layer, when there is a video under another video, the vignete goes darker. sorry if it spoilt for the short film for you, ill make sure i change that in the real thing. and also this was just so i can sort out problems and practice for the actual short

  • @gamingmaster14

thanks, glad you liked it :)

  • cutting feet from libraries is hard. i give you props for trying but

you should really be walking your characters next time.

Having a solid foley pass will do wonders for your projects.

  • @DRESTA12345678910

thanks for the comment, it was the first time ive ever tried to reporduce all the audio, some of it worked but some parts didnt, thanks for the criticism.

  • do a view with the camera in the mask so it looked like we see what he see :P

  • @petegrimsby

yer my freind actually said to do that, but we forgot, but as you said about it, we will probs do it in the actual films!

  • in which part of the world was that filmed?

  • @agustin280fer

    england!

  • Amazing just amazing!!!!!

  • Nicely done, I like the atmosphere it created, and it had a pretty good sound design.. However there were a few problems with it. But over all it was great. All the best with your short film.

  • @playmobil500

thank you very much, i know some of the footsteps were out of time with the video, but it was my first time triyng to add sound completely. anyways, glad you liked it!

  • This is phenomenal!! i really love the acting and the camera work was divine !

  • Nice Video:) And great quality for such an inexpensive camcorder..

  • @AccuracyFilms

thank you ver much, really glad you liked it. the actual short film should be even better once weve made it!
