How much paper do you use? I started with 1 lb of Red Wigglers--approx 500--and they at least quadrupled in 3 months. My bin is homemade from a Rubbermaid container and I have harvested castings once. I am going to make another bin so the worms don't get overcrowded. Good job!
The reason why there is so much paper is I combined 2 trays together. I freeze my food scrapes then thaw or microwave them then put in the blender & pour on one side leaving the other side cool, I add egg shells & whole wheat flour. I started with one pint too, it's hard to know how many I have know because they are seperated into 3 trays. I have harvested casting one time too. How often do you add food scrapes?
I play it by ear when I add food scraps. Whenever it looks like there isn't much left I put some in. Tonight after I saw your video and watched the video from University of Minnesota(?)I added more bedding. I used newspaper strips and some of my regular compost and I also added a tupperware sized bowl of food scraps. My bin is loaded with worm eggs so I really need to get going on my next bin. Take care.
