i am a die hard Iowa state fan. but even in my opinion Texas should generally not lose a football game to Iowa State. how ever one thing rhoades has restored here with the clones is the "if" factor. the years chizick coached the only teams they could beat were 2a teams no one has heard of. i think in two years he had one conference win? with three or four overall wins? rhoades first year he had more wins at ISU then chizick did his career there. but with rhoade teams can no longer blow then off.

One national championship (when USC went for it on 4th down and gave it away - gotta call it like I saw it) and a few Big 12 championships don't meet the expectations of years and years of top recruiting classes. I am a die-hard Iowa State fan. When we went into this game, I was thinking that we (Iowa State) were going to get blown out for the 3rd week in a row. I didn't even want to watch the game on tv. I saw on the ESPN scrolling score thing while watching another game that we were up 14-3, so I turned the game on. I was actually thinking that Texas was going to pull away the win (like what always happens against us) towrds the end. It made me proud to be a Cyclone! Great game Texas!

Texas has been a bully team for years so they've made their money off being 'arrogant'. Mack Brown never corrected that behavior. Texas has problems everywhere. But the biggest problem right now is the offensive coaching and scheme. The offensive line is terrible, and that's on Mac McWhorter. We already know how bad Greg Davis's scheme is so I won't go into that. Also, idk who is coaching our wr's but they aren't developing at all. The only great wide receivers we've had in recent years both came in here already polished (Cosby and Shipley).

I understand that Iowa State is never a well known recruiting entity. However, the average star of the Iowa State Commit last year was nearly 3 stars. Now, don't interpret my comment as saying that Iowa State does recruit well but I think we are due a little more respect than the rest of the country gives us. @BigEinbama If you would actually once in your life watch a football game and then make comments on it you would notice that regardless of the score, Iowa state's defense literally dropped about 7 or 8 should have been picks and was up by over 20 points up until the second half. What the final score was has no relevance to the overall performance of Texas's offense or defense for that matter throughout the game. A note about Texas fans. First, I'm a dyed in the wool Texan who has always rooted for the Longhorns, but my nephew is now a freshman defensive end for Iowa State (#93 Aaron Moore) so my son and I were at the game pulling for Iowa (family first). I was wearing an Iowa State cap. After the game as we got up to leave almost every Longhorn fan around us turned and gave us a very polite "congratulations" though you could tell they were heartbroken. Now that is class. Made me pround to be a Texan.
It wasn't that the "handcuffs came off". Gilbert was successful in the 4th quarter because Iowa State had gone into prevent mode. Gilbert MAY turn into a great quarterback but he flat out SUCKS right now.
With our O-Line and WR corp, Joe Montana couldn't have won this game. GG deserves a lot of blame, sure, but he is certainly not the only problem on this team.

Piece of trash?! Are you serious? All Missouri has shown is that they are finally deserving of national title talk. In three conference games, they shut out Colorado, blew out A&M in College Station, and defeated Oklahoma. Throw in another undefeated non-conference slate, and you have a 7-0 Tiger team that is deserving of any national attention. And why shouldn't Missouri go if they are undefeated? They've played in the Big 12, plus beat Illinois and San Diego State, both are decent.

@jmslnrc I think they can if they are given a chance. All Missouri has done this season is play their games and move on to the next one. Missouri was expected to win their first 5 games, which they did. They only struggled for a half against Illinois and mostly the whole game against San Diego State. Both of those teams are decent this year and will be bowling by season's end. In the last two weeks, a ton of "experts" said Missouri will lose. MU not only won those games, but won impressively!
Greg Davis is one of the WORST OC in the country...he has no idea WTF he is doing....it's inexcusable this late into the season for our offense to have no identity...no adjustments made during the games AT ALL...davis wastes the most offensive talent of any coach in the country...i remember for years he had no idea how to use VY...and then jamal charles...he also wasted an NFL beast in jermicheal finley...Davis is making gilbert look like chris simms..applewhite needs to be the new OC
We definitely didn't have 100k this game. It was still a sell out, but for the 101k that we had for Wyoming it looked filled out. It looked pathetically empty today inside DKR. The only nice part was having extra room for our seats.
The game was also pretty early. Most Longhorns are recovering from 6th street hangovers around 11AM most Saturdays ;)
Like CowboyTD said, the stadium was full by halftime. Some people left in the third quarter, but you get that anywhere when a team underperforms. Even Aggies do it, like when Mizzou smoked them 30-9.

Colt McCoy sucked in 2007, when our O-line was all freshmen and sophomores. Without Jamaal Charles to bail us out against Nebraska and Okie State, we'd have lost 5 games.

I think you're absolutely right about Texas not getting ready to play. That's the beauty of college football. It's not enough that you guys have the best players on the field week in and week out, you have to WANT it. You have to be the most excited to play. When we beat you in Lubbock a couple of years ago, it wasn't because we had more talented players because we didn't. hey cowboyTD- i go to Boise State and have watched you're vids since the BSU rant you had. Since you are a true Texas fan I have a question. Was that game not a sale out? I watched it on TV and some of the stands in the end zone were pretty much empty. Another Texas fan on here told me that Texas only sales out big games like A&M and Tech
to me that doesn't seem right for such a big university. I am originally from Knoxville, TN and Tennessee sales out every game. What's the deal?

i am a die hard Iowa state fan. but even in my opinion Texas should generally not lose a football game to Iowa State. how ever one thing rhoades has restored here with the clones is the "if" factor. the years chizick coached the only teams they could beat were 2a teams no one has heard of. i think in two years he had one conference win? with three or four overall wins? rhoades first year he had more wins at ISU then chizick did his career there. but with rhoade teams can no longer blow then off.

The fans saying Mack should be fired aren't idiots. One national championship (when USC went for it on 4th down and gave it away - gotta call it like I saw it) and a few Big 12 championships don't meet the expectations of years and years of top recruiting classes. You could have given Texas' roster to Saban, Stoops, Spurrier, etc. and you'd have more championship trophies at UT. Just sayin'...

I am a die-hard Iowa State fan. When we went into this game, I was thinking that we (Iowa State) were going to get blown out for the 3rd week in a row. I didn't even want to watch the game on tv. I saw on the ESPN scrolling score thing while watching another game that we were up 14-3, so I turned the game on. I was actually thinking that Texas was going to pull away the win (like what always happens against us) towrds the end. It made me proud to be a Cyclone! Great game Texas!

also, I don't get too excited about those TD's we scored at the end. That was mainly because Iowa State went into a full prevent defense. As for the defense, I am pretty dissapointed. Texas has problems everywhere. But the biggest problem right now is the offensive coaching and scheme. The offensive line is terrible, and that's on Mac McWhorter. We already know how bad Greg Davis's scheme is so I won't go into that. Also, idk who is coaching our wr's but they aren't developing at all. The only great wide receivers we've had in recent years both came in here already polished (Cosby and Shipley).

I understand that Iowa State is never a well known recruiting entity. However, the average star of the Iowa State Commit last year was nearly 3 stars. Now, don't interpret my comment as saying that Iowa State does recruit well but I think we are due a little more respect than the rest of the country gives us. I absolutely detest the college football fans who talk down on the cyclones without any knowledge of the program whatsoever. a 7-6 record for a first year coach is a hell of an feat

@BigEinbama If you would actually once in your life watch a football game and then make comments on it you would notice that regardless of the score, Iowa state's defense literally dropped about 7 or 8 should have been picks and was up by over 20 points up until the second half. What the final score was has no relevance to the overall performance of Texas's offense or defense for that matter throughout the game. Trust me, if you had watched the game the outcome could have been significantlyworse

It's alright TD. You can't win every year. I actually don't have a problem with UT. It is just a lot of their fans....Sometimes you guys act like you are the only team in Texas. I saw it earlier in the summer when TCU played UT in Austin for the CWS. If anything this will humble you guys a little. I wouldn't give up on Gilbert either. The dude is young. It is the OL that is the biggest problem. Anyways, I will keep rooting for TCU. Big game in a couple of weeks in Utah.

I've been standing behind Gilbert the whole season, but I think I've had enough. I honestly don't see how he was the #1 player coming out of High School. Greg Davis sucks, but he did let Gilbert throw downfield a lot more today then in the past, and he still couldn't get it done, in the first 3 quarters anyway.
Once again, I ask: Why did DJ Monroe only get 1 touch??? He's our most dangerous player, it's ridiculous they aren't giving him the rock.

A note about Texas fans. First, I'm a dyed in the wool Texan who has always rooted for the Longhorns, but my nephew is now a freshman defensive end for Iowa State (#93 Aaron Moore) so my son and I were at the game pulling for Iowa (family first). I was wearing an Iowa State cap. After the game as we got up to leave almost every Longhorn fan around us turned and gave us a very polite "congratulations" though you could tell they were heartbroken. Now that is class. Made me pround to be a Texan.

I too stay throughout the whole game. Our third home game when the Cats were losing 9-3 with one minute left. Students were leaving the game and then Foles threw the TD pass with seconds left and Arizona won 10-9 versus Cal.

BCS Title game is one piece of trash Missouri team losing away from finally being Big 12 free. Even if Oregon, Boise and TCU lose, ANY One loss SEC and ANY any one loss Big 10 team should go before any One loss or even un-defeated Missouri team goes. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Piece of trash?! Are you serious? All Missouri has shown is that they are finally deserving of national title talk. In three conference games, they shut out Colorado, blew out A&M in College Station, and defeated Oklahoma. Throw in another undefeated non-conference slate, and you have a 7-0 Tiger team that is deserving of any national attention. And why shouldn't Missouri go if they are undefeated? They've played in the Big 12, plus beat Illinois and San Diego State, both are decent.

You think Missouri could beat any one loss SEC or Big 10 team ? Missouri is a Big 10 reject, they was begging to go but had to go back to the Big 12 with their tail between their legs. Nebraksa should finish them off next week. Any team that loses to any team that loses to Iowa State should be ineligble for Championship consideration for two years.

@jmslnrc I think they can if they are given a chance. All Missouri has done this season is play their games and move on to the next one. Missouri was expected to win their first 5 games, which they did. They only struggled for a half against Illinois and mostly the whole game against San Diego State. Both of those teams are decent this year and will be bowling by season's end. In the last two weeks, a ton of "experts" said Missouri will lose. MU not only won those games, but won impressively!

Greg Davis is one of the WORST OC in the country...he has no idea WTF he is doing....it's inexcusable this late into the season for our offense to have no identity...no adjustments made during the games AT ALL...davis wastes the most offensive talent of any coach in the country...i remember for years he had no idea how to use VY...and then jamal charles...he also wasted an NFL beast in jermicheal finley...Davis is making gilbert look like chris simms..applewhite needs to be the new OC

We definitely didn't have 100k this game. It was still a sell out, but for the 101k that we had for Wyoming it looked filled out. It looked pathetically empty today inside DKR. The only nice part was having extra room for our seats.

Like CowboyTD said, the stadium was full by halftime. Some people left in the third quarter, but you get that anywhere when a team underperforms. Even Aggies do it, like when Mizzou smoked them 30-9.

by this time in both VY and colt's career...they had already shown signs of greatness...they weren't perfect...but they had shown heart , leadership , playmaking skills , field awareness and a spark that inspired their teammates....gilbert has NONE of those qualities....he stares down his receivers , has no concept of when to use touch or when to fire it in....no pocket awareness...no improvisational skills...he seems scared on the field....he doesn't show leadership or inspire his team

Colt McCoy sucked in 2007, when our O-line was all freshmen and sophomores. Without Jamaal Charles to bail us out against Nebraska and Okie State, we'd have lost 5 games.

Then compare McCoy in 2007 to GG now. It's very similar. When McCoy first started in 2006 he still had the bulk of the 2005 Longhorn team with him, probably the best Longhorn team ever.
What the hell have you seen that makes you think Case could be a better QB than Gilbert? The dude is talented, sure, but he's only taken one snap ALL YEAR. It'd be disastrous to put him in against a quality opponent.

garrett gilbert doesn't have it....ask yourself...when has he EVER shown flashes of greatness ?....in the BCS championship he had about 5 turnovers....in nearly every game this year he has multiple turnovers....in this game against ISU he should have had atleast 6 ints....they just dropped balls right in their hands....it's time for case mccoy to get a chance...he needs to start against baylor....gilbert has no pocket awareness...or playmaking skills...he's a statuesque chris simms clone

I know you beat us last week. There's no changing that, but at least we LOST to the cyclones last year. the key word is lost. it took 8 turnovers to beat us by 2 points. Iowa State straight up BEAT you guys. No disrespect, but doesn't the players' motivation fall on Mack Brown's shoulders? It's the coaches job to get his players ready to play and I agree that they didn't show up to play today. Tough loss. That one will sting awhile. Trust me.

I think you're absolutely right about Texas not getting ready to play. That's the beauty of college football. It's not enough that you guys have the best players on the field week in and week out, you have to WANT it. You have to be the most excited to play. When we beat you in Lubbock a couple of years ago, it wasn't because we had more talented players because we didn't. (with the exception of Crabtree) What sucks about this, is that I can't talk crap because Tech got murdered by ISU too.

1 star recruits huh? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. While Texas's recruiting is lightyears ahead of ISU's, I wouldn't go that far. ISU has been historically the worst B12 team because of the miniscule athletic program support in the late 80s and early 90s. Thats changing.

I know Mack Brown is very composed, but the entire coaching staff had a very ho-hum demeanor the entire game, where the hell was the Will Muschamp that used to get red in the face for his defense allowing 10 or 15 yds? wheres the Mack Brown who almost had a heart attack yelling at the players during the okie st game a few years back when they were down by 4 TD's, or the Duane Akina who practically abused players when they missed an assigment. You said it bud, nothing but ARROGANT ASSHOLES!

If I'm Mack Brown I'm making these guys run into they puke. I know in 2008 after A&M ran all over he made them run the stadium steps until they were sick. Now they to do that with the defense and the offensive line especially with that right tackle Mitchell. He is so bad. Still this is like the Cowboys, a lot of good talent but their hearts and minds are not into it and you do stupid shit that gets you beat. 4 times in the redzone and you come with 6 points. You didn't deserve to win.

I have to say, you've really matured over the years with your videos. You were never a douche, but I can definitely see a noticeable difference in your demeanor. Sucks that you have to see through an uninspiring product on the field. Texas' problems seem to be inverted from ours here in College Station. You're players play uninspired, our coaches (mainly Sherman) are terrible motivators. Good luck the rest of the way. At least we've got the Rangers.

I watched it on TV and some of the stands in the end zone were pretty much empty. Another Texas fan on here told me that Texas only sales out big games like A&M and Tech
to me that doesn't seem right for such a big university. I am originally from Knoxville, TN and Tennessee sales out every game. What's the deal?
