You can get the NBA Superstars DVD on Ebay or Amazon now in much better quality! Championships or not Barkley was a Beast! JORDAN stopped many greats from getting championships in those days! @mmabuff101 NBA Superstars. there was Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Isiah Thomas, Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, Julius Erving, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and some other mixed videos. It was good bcuz it was the first of it's kind, not a lot of special effects, just music and action.

Oh really, where were san antonio's rings when they were David Robinson's team. Charles Barkley played with plenty of good players throughout his career. Dont blame Tim Duncan for Barkley's shortcomings.
David Robinson was a hasbeen in 99 and 03. Duncan won 4 rings and has more mvp award shares in the regular season. He is ranked #8 on basketball reference's hof probability. Barkley is 21. Thats a pretty big gap.
Why not? Duncan has more mvp's, playoff mvps and more 1st team all nba. What does barkely have on him, some random stats? I would take Duncan's career over barkley's anyday.
Duncan also played with a hall of famer, and a cast of two other allstar calibur players, and one of the best defenders in the NBA. Not to mention one of the best coaches in the league.
I know I watched hundreds of times as a kid. Its called "NBA Superstars, Vol. 1" I ordered it on DVD from Amazon as a part of Volumes I, II, and III the day it came out a couple years ago.

By the way sinjinthule go check out my profile i have put in the My Favorites sectiona Double Over Time Season Game from 1987: Celtics vs Sixers. There you can enjoy the game of Larry Legend, the Blackwhole McHale, Sir Charles and the old but Great DR. J It was an asoume game and you can see a young 23 year old Charles v.s a still Prime Big 3. Check it Out!
"When You Play with Great Players, Thae Game is Even Easier". Chuck in his 20s if he would have played in the Fast Paced West would have averaged over 30 PPG and over 60% FG for a decate with ease. People forget he shot 58.13% from the 2-Point FG (second All time after 7`2 Artis Gimlore) and 55.13% from the 2-Point FG in the Play-Offs as a Go to Go Guy Focal Scorer. That is only comparable to Shaq! People always forget how good was Charles before his injuries in 1996 and keep underrating him!
And no Result!. Imagine Robinson changing position on his opposing center to Guard 6`4/6`5 Charles and no result? :) Thats how good Charles was in his Prime. Even with a Twin Tower System (7`1 Robinson and 7`0 Perdue) designed to stop Charles spin moves on the post and off the dribble drives on to the post they could not stop him in 93. The next years even Hakeem had to leave his opposing center and change positions to guard Chuck and still he couldn`t. Charles would destroy todays soft game!
Aceroy, you are so right. Charles had such a freakish body-type--sort of like McHale but, uh, totally opposite. He sometimes found himself with match-up problems on defense--although he was an excellent fast break & help defender, but his low center of gravity, quickness, explosiveness & sheer thickness made him almost impossible to defend against. I still dream about what might have been if Harold Katz hadn't been such a bonehead during the '86 draft...
Barkley in the Paint was a good defender up front the problem is he was lazy sometimes (overweight has do to with it) he did not always follow his defender away from the paint. One must remember he had played center in collage affected his Defense because he loved to stay in the paint and anticipate for block shots in center style. He had major foot work & timing and center instincts to shot block along with his 39 inch vertical leap.
Not until 1997 Charles and Michael were the only ones Labeled "Player" on NBA live. Thats how good they were. Then Charles got injured. After that charles was charles barkley on the next NBA live.
shaddap about ur rihanna beyonce ciara ho transformer or else ill call chuck to dunk on them and throw the ball at their stomach like 1:06 cause im on his tmobile fav5
i totally agree with AceRoy. im fortunate to have watched Chuck play in what most people consider the toughest era in the NBA. i love the Big Ticket too, dont get me wrong, but nobody gets nowhere near Chuck in terms of agressiveness and passion both offensively and defense wise. the closest player in my opinion closest in comparison to the Wide Load from Leeds is my other fave, Dennis Rodman but still, Sir Charles is head and shoulders above the rest in this respect.
Still nobody has noticed the fact that Charles Barkley`s Real FG% (taking away the excessive 3-Pointers he took-made away from the PF Spot Role) on the 2-Point FGA is 58.13%!. Yes!, Charles Barkley has a career 20.6 PPG Avg while shooting 58.12% from the 2-FG in the Regular Season and 21.5 PPG Avg while Shooting 55.13% from the 2-Point FG in the Play-Offs. All this Just Insane for a "Go to Go Guy-Focal Scorer" with no Prime Bird-DJ-Stockton-Ginobill-Robinson etc in their making his Job Easier!
KG is mr. energy. But Barkley has that and is a friggin freigh train to defend. Worst yet he's a freight train that doesn't like to settle for jumpers when he can't get in, seemingly becauseSir Charles can ALWAYS get in.
I feel bad for greats like Barkley, Ewing, malone and stockton who didn't get a ring. Barkley got a raw deal in Philly because they were rebuilding when he came to town and then got stomped out by MJ in the 1993 finals. I like the fact that he isn't afraid to tell it like it is.
Ewing had a Prime Sorrounding Cast with him All His Life. A Great Defensive Team but with him as The Only Offensive Talent. Malone & Stockton had enough to go the finals in the weaker W.C since day one (including shot blocking machine Center Mark Eaton) and after Kareem retired in 1989 there was no excuse for the Jazz not making it to the finals as late as they did. Charles on the contrary had no one in phily after 1986 & in the Rockets arrived to an aging team once again! Charles = Greatest PF
because he was never scard to do things he wanted to do,he was never scard to goes up to the basket anyway and anytime,he was never scard to say what he think-that's the real fighter of the NBA,even today :)
Everyone hated him. The Media, The Coaches, The Comission, Mr Stern himself who stole the 1990 MVP from him by changin the 2nd Place Voting Rules to count as much as 1st Place Votes etc and everyone though and wanted the Rockets, Sonics, Jazz or Spurs to go to the finals in 1993 but Charles prooved everyone wrong and they finally had to hand put their hands down. We will never see a player that plays as Hard, Agressive and Passionete than Charles. Saddest Day in NBA History was when he retired
There are only 2 players in NBA History who has at least 23,000 points, 12,000 rebounds, and 4,000 assists. They are Wilt Chamberlain and Charles Wade Barkley!!!
barkley is the man and whoever edited nba superstars deserves an award for continuity. the clips are in perfect harmony with the music. total chris knight.
Greatest Crime in NBA History Ever. Stopen MVP in 1990 and then taking his Team Against Stern and All Odds in 1993 (right after leaving the Sixers). I just laugh at idiots who talk bad about Charles. They would not have even dared to speak to his face when he was fit and healthy from 1985 to 1995 :)
Ace, this is the Charles that I remember, I'm just mad that I didn't video tape at least all of his away games when he played in Philly. They used to come on regular t.v. on channel 17, and I have a lot of them on tape, but not enough. Its another one of those cases of "you don't know what you had until its gone", because I never in my wildest dreams thought that we would trade Charles Barkley! He was supposed to retire a 76er, our former owner Harold Katz was a complete imbecile!
I only saw clips from him in the Sixers but I watched live him from 93 to 96 (his last great year) and I was just amazed at what I saw. Even though he did not have the same speed, leaping ability and potence he played so smart hitting fadeaways, boxingout over giants and in some games like in the 93 play-offs he played like a monster escaped from a cage. His domination, agressiveness and will at 6`4 is something that will probaly never be seen again.
No Duncan, Garnett, Dirk what eva Powerforward today could be handle the mixture of speed, natural strength, power, ball handling fast breaks, 260-280 lbs body and 39 inch! vertical leap that Barkley had in is PRIME.
It would be very diffucult to Guard Chuck in today`s no handchecking and soft play game. To stop Chuck from penetrating off the dribble spin move from the base line on to the post is impossible without constant double teaming and it would be laughable in a fast paced game. Even back then when there was no handchecking rules they`d double team rotating opposing SFs,PFs and Cs to prevent players from fouling out at once. I`ve seen the Spurs put Perdue along Robinson to guard him at the same time!
Tangent: One thing I really started noticing about CB (and MJ) when I started studying the Real Dream Team was that contrary to what you'd expect, Barkley was better suited the the running game he rarely had a chance to play then Jordan was. Simply put, when Barkley was relieved of some of his defensive rebounding duties and had first rate defensive rebounders/outlet passers like Robinson & Ewing to take the slack and feed him, he was, quite simply, unstoppable on the break.
I`ve never seen another under 6`5 player block dunks in center style front and face-upagainst guys like Robinson, Ewing, Hakeem etc. Iv`ve seen prime Charles force a Prime Shaq away from the Paint. His defense is underated not to mention he was the quickest PF ever to anticiapte for steals ever. He has the highest SPG Avg for the PF Ever (something which is never mentioned). On the Dream Team thing: Chuck Daily said Chuck was the Second Best Player in the league and as he always said:
Charles was always SUPERB at anticipating opposition pass routes. He was a lot like Bird in this respect. Bird was a lot taller & had the scariest J ever (Miller included) but despite his awkwardness and poor foot-speed, Larry Legend saw the other team's offense three moves ahead. Charles was almost that good. When Charles picked off a pass, you always knew what was going to happen at the other end. It was just a question of who it would happen to and how long they'd be in the emergency room.
Exactly....Bird and Charles are muy favorite players ever because they played out of position. Was Larry Bird a SF, PF, SG or PG? All of them Into One. Was Charles Barley a SG, SF, PF or C? All of them Into One. Both Freaks of Nature, None Position Players and Where More than Just Forwards. I always fetl that if Bird had more athletic abilities, could jump and run faster ala Tom Chambers he would have been the Greatest Ever and if Charles was 6`10 he would have been the Greatest Ever too
Dude I used to have this tape! I freaking loved it!

He sometimes found himself with match-up problems on defense--although he was an excellent fast break & help defender, but his low center of gravity, quickness, explosiveness & sheer thickness made him almost impossible to defend against. I still dream about what might have been if Harold Katz hadn't been such a bonehead during the '86 draft...
sinjinthule 3 years ago
Barkley in the Paint was a good defender up front the problem is he was lazy sometimes (overweight has do to with it) he did not always follow his defender away from the paint. One must remember he had played center in collage affected his Defense because he loved to stay in the paint and anticipate for block shots in center style. He had major foot work & timing and center instincts to shot block along with his 39 inch vertical leap.

Not until 1997 Charles and Michael were the only ones Labeled "Player" on NBA live. Thats how good they were. Then Charles got injured. After that charles was charles barkley on the next NBA live.

Plays Hard but Not As Agressive and Passionete as Charles. Not Even Close!
AceroySangre 3 years ago 3
i totally agree with AceRoy. im fortunate to have watched Chuck play in what most people consider the toughest era in the NBA. i love the Big Ticket too, dont get me wrong, but nobody gets nowhere near Chuck in terms of agressiveness and passion both offensively and defense wise. the closest player in my opinion closest in comparison to the Wide Load from Leeds is my other fave, Dennis Rodman but still, Sir Charles is head and shoulders above the rest in this respect.

AceroySangre 3 years ago
KG is mr. energy. But Barkley has that and is a friggin freigh train to defend. Worst yet he's a freight train that doesn't like to settle for jumpers when he can't get in, seemingly becauseSir Charles can ALWAYS get in.

Anyone?!

I feel bad for greats like Barkley, Ewing, malone and stockton who didn't get a ring. Barkley got a raw deal in Philly because they were rebuilding when he came to town and then got stomped out by MJ in the 1993 finals. I like the fact that he isn't afraid to tell it like it is.
silent29dd 3 years ago
Ewing had a Prime Sorrounding Cast with him All His Life. A Great Defensive Team but with him as The Only Offensive Talent. Malone & Stockton had enough to go the finals in the weaker W.C since day one (including shot blocking machine Center Mark Eaton) and after Kareem retired in 1989 there was no excuse for the Jazz not making it to the finals as late as they did. Charles on the contrary had no one in phily after 1986 & in the Rockets arrived to an aging team once again! Charles = Greatest PF
AceroySangre 3 years ago
he is not a warrior,he is a CRAZY BEAST warrior!
and you know why he's the greatest PF ever?
because he was never scard to do things he wanted to do,he was never scard to goes up to the basket anyway and anytime,he was never scard to say what he think-that's the real fighter of the NBA,even today :)
eliran2356 3 years ago
Everyone hated him. The Media, The Coaches, The Comission, Mr Stern himself who stole the 1990 MVP from him by changin the 2nd Place Voting Rules to count as much as 1st Place Votes etc and everyone though and wanted the Rockets, Sonics, Jazz or Spurs to go to the finals in 1993 but Charles prooved everyone wrong and they finally had to hand put their hands down. We will never see a player that plays as Hard, Agressive and Passionete than Charles. Saddest Day in NBA History was when he retired

the passion of Charles to the basketball game
and also his approach-this things made him as one of 5 greatest of the NBA history with Michael Jordan,Magic Johnson,Larry Bird and

It's a fuckin' crime that Charles Barkley doesn't have an NBA ring.
He's the BEST PF of All Time.

He was supposed to retire a 76er, our former owner Harold Katz was a complete imbecile!
alcorderyjr 3 years ago
I only saw clips from him in the Sixers but I watched live him from 93 to 96 (his last great year) and I was just amazed at what I saw. Even though he did not have the same speed, leaping ability and potence he played so smart hitting fadeaways, boxingout over giants and in some games like in the 93 play-offs he played like a monster escaped from a cage. His domination, agressiveness and will at 6`4 is something that will probaly never be seen again.

Dear Heavens I love this video. My VHS copy from the '80s is worn out.
Barkley in his 20s was an unstoppable force.
He was the player I patterned my game after most.

No Duncan, Garnett, Dirk what eva Powerforward today could be handle the mixture of speed, natural strength, power, ball handling fast breaks, 260-280 lbs body and 39 inch! vertical leap that Barkley had in is PRIME.
PRIME CHUCKSTER (1984-1996) =
"GREATEST POWERFORWARD OF ALL TIME"
LIKE IT OR NOT :)

Dude, I agree with you! Barkley was a monster.
SidJustice1 3 years ago 2
Garnett's the only guy in Chuck's league but God help KG if he tries to defend a prime time Sir Charles crashing the middle on the break...
sinjinthule 3 years ago
It would be very diffucult to Guard Chuck in today`s no handchecking and soft play game. To stop Chuck from penetrating off the dribble spin move from the base line on to the post is impossible without constant double teaming and it would be laughable in a fast paced game. Even back then when there was no handchecking rules they`d double team rotating opposing SFs,PFs and Cs to prevent players from fouling out at once. I`ve seen the Spurs put Perdue along Robinson to guard him at the same time!
AceroySangre 3 years ago
Tangent: One thing I really started noticing about CB (and MJ) when I started studying the Real Dream Team was that contrary to what you'd expect, Barkley was better suited the the running game he rarely had a chance to play then Jordan was. Simply put, when Barkley was relieved of some of his defensive rebounding duties and had first rate defensive rebounders/outlet passers like Robinson & Ewing to take the slack and feed him, he was, quite simply, unstoppable on the break.
sinjinthule 3 years ago 2
I`ve never seen another under 6`5 player block dunks in center style front and face-upagainst guys like Robinson, Ewing, Hakeem etc. Iv`ve seen prime Charles force a Prime Shaq away from the Paint. His defense is underated not to mention he was the quickest PF ever to anticiapte for steals ever. He has the highest SPG Avg for the PF Ever (something which is never mentioned). On the Dream Team thing: Chuck Daily said Chuck was the Second Best Player in the league and as he always said:
AceroySangre 3 years ago 2
Charles was always SUPERB at anticipating opposition pass routes. He was a lot like Bird in this respect. Bird was a lot taller & had the scariest J ever (Miller included) but despite his awkwardness and poor foot-speed, Larry Legend saw the other team's offense three moves ahead. Charles was almost that good. When Charles picked off a pass, you always knew what was going to happen at the other end. It was just a question of who it would happen to and how long they'd be in the emergency room.
sinjinthule 3 years ago
Exactly....Bird and Charles are muy favorite players ever because they played out of position. Was Larry Bird a SF, PF, SG or PG? All of them Into One. Was Charles Barley a SG, SF, PF or C? All of them Into One. Both Freaks of Nature, None Position Players and Where More than Just Forwards. I always fetl that if Bird had more athletic abilities, could jump and run faster ala Tom Chambers he would have been the Greatest Ever and if Charles was 6`10 he would have been the Greatest Ever too
