  • You can get parts for this thing?

  • Just Amazing!

  • you guys are spinning it baackwards

  • I want to slap it in a roadster just because :3

  • that is cool as hell

  • Hard to believe they flew a large aircraft so well on only 10hp what a large mower would produce today, Hiram maxim (may almost) have beat them with his giant , but fouled on launch rails as it got airborne. This was certainly more advanced & practical, apparently (i read) they were known locally as Eccentrics-Lunatics for trying to achieve flight, how wrong they were, great Vid Thanks!

  • Wow. Says something about Mr Taylor's skills, this is a custom design he made and...wow. Still runs. That's amazing.

  • are u even trying

  • This engine is known as a "Vertical four", unlike the early Wright engines which were inline 4's laying on thier sides. All Wright engines used aluminum blocks. It would have originally powered a "Model A Military Flyer" or possibly a "Model B". Wright flying machines had very light wing loadings and didn't fly remarkably fast. Even so, they were dangerous and very difficult to fly.

Wright Experience had GOOD sponsors and spent MILLIONS on thier restorations and reproduction flying machines.

  • Makes a lot of noise, don't it? I don't understand how something that large and heavy could have pulled an aircraft. Hmmm...

  • wooo XD hhahaha ... what a souny engine... amazing feat good work ...

  • Nice engine !! Thanks to U-Tube, I can watch from home.

  • They knew how to make those old engines really fly. ;0)

It's a great looking piece of engineering from the past , thanks for keeping the fire burning, great show guys.

  • Amasing to think that we went from that to jet travel and space exploration in the space of one generation.

What have done since? Next to nothing. We need more visionaries.

  • You just need to look harder ;D

  • After WW2 the scientist took over who were employed by the Governments, thats what has killed a lot of innovation, read about a guy Burt Rutan, he is on U-Tube, very innovative designer.

  • Technology is evolving at an ever increasing rate. Think again.

  • @iamthefatstig ARE YOU NUTS

  • @iamthefatstig We're too busy trying to blow each other up, how can we expect to make any advancements in science with billions in the hands of a few and the rest spent on wars. I'm digging your username btw :)

  • Stunning. I gaurantee I would have stood there grinning like an idiot too.

  • Mechanical poetry.

  • lol in discription, the date is december 17 2003. lol

  • the engine in the Bergdoll Model B at Franklin Institute Philadelphia was recently run when that airplane was restored. It last ran in 1934 and didn't sound that good. this one sounds much better

  • Superb! Great restoration job!

  • wonderful sound.. hope it can be in the air again... thanks.

  • Incredible piece of living history. From a watery grave in Lake Michigan to a complete, meticulous and loving rebuild by Greg Cone, Ken Hyde and the Wright Experience Team. Thanks to Jim Davis for caring enough to post this video for all to see ... and hear.
