This guy has a decent voice, but unfortunately a small range. He sounds like he's straining in both the low and the high register, which shouldn't be happening. I don't like the quality of the sound in either extreme either. It either sounds too gravelly/throaty or too thin and stretched.
Check my cover out of stars and Empty chairs and empty tables if you would please guys! Let me know what you think :) hope I did it justice! Sorry its a bit out of sink.. still... I hope its a good listen! :D
...Am I the only one not picking up on the emotion in this version?
Maybe it's because he didn't sing this in an actual performance, but I really don't think Jon Robyns as Marius could drive me to tears in ECAET. It feels to me as if he's singing the lyrics- not actually performing them.
@TheInspectorJavert I think it's not the same because you're not actually seeing the performance, the look on his face, body movements, along with the tone. It's all of that mixed together that brings out the emotion in ECAET. Jon did a wonderful job for just a recording, but it'll never be the same as hearing and seeing it live.
i'm kinda pissed that i can't get audio streaming from youtube right now. the video volume is not muted, neither are my speakers off, neither is my computer volume muted. has anyone else been having this problem? or am i a retard...
no one can compare to michael ball... thing is all these singers are so well trained... when they sing sometimes it sounds almost heartless and no emotion into it.... see michael ball wasnt trained... he wanted to be just an actor... but he sings from his heart.. every note... and that is why he is the best musicall male singer ever come out of uk..... cos his voice is raw... and not been put thru a circus school.. come on now..... squeeze that note out... hold your stomach.. lol...
He is Fantastic...i was him on stage and he has such control over his voice and such power! He also played around with some of the high notes and made them higher to show off his range which i like. what a difference from princeton!!
when i first saw him in stage i loved him so much, but that was before seeing a video of Michael Bell. He puts so much more emotion on every word, i definetely can say without a doubt tha my fav marius is bell
Is there any way to get the 3 sngs from the interviews on itunes? This cast made seeing the show more than worthwhile! Any ideas? Thanks for putting these up btw

Michael Ball is still my favorite for this song, but damn this is heart-wrenching. Very moving.

A bit too subtle for the stage, but the best I've found so far for a recording re: interpretation.

Yeah, forget that last thing I said. This is flat out AMAZING. I actually prefer this over Cameron Macintosh's Dream Cast concert. Go Jon!!

Now THIS is a Marius. The current one playing on Broadway London really has a childish and almost irritating voice...
