@inBloomfield The composer's indications: "All in strict unison...always play loud, never stop or falter, stay together as long as you can, but if you get lost, stay lost. Do not try to find your way back into the
fold. Continue to follow the rules strictly...... " So, you are not supposed to get lost, anyway you can see the group getting lost on part 2.
Note 7 is in E natural. The PDF that is most available has it as an Ab, but Rzewski's original score, and most performances use the E natural as the 7th note.
Why is this group playing an A-flat as the seventh note in the pattern, rather than the E natural that is written in Rzewski's original version of the score?
Two versions, audio samples of which can be heard at Amazon (by Fireworks and eighth blackbird, respectively), as do earlier LP-only recordings such as that by the Blackearth Percussion Group on Opus One Records, have E natural as the seventh note.

This is way too slow

@josharmenta About the tempo, this is the metronome marking. It gets faster as time passes and the group gets lost as well on ( part 2).

Well where's the fun in it if everyone stays together perfectly? They should have just given them the piece while they were walking on stage.

@ohlordbabyjesus Yes, when I played this you were supposed to get lost , not this playing in unison.

The seventh note of the pattern is an A-flat. The first E natural of the score is the 26th note.

Someone must have made an error in re-notating this, as the seventh note is definitely an E natural in Rzewski's original version of this score.
