it's the way you build an engine that will make it sound differently. just because it has the same configuration doesn't mean it will sound the same. that's a very elementary belief. there are so many ways to change the way the engine sounds. the exhaust is only one of many, and with different exhausts on the same car it can sound totally different.

Go do some research on cross plane and flat plane V8s and while you're at it, learn a bit of the math that describes how a piston engine makes noise. I'm not going to waste my time trying to teach someone who is as arrogant as you. I will give you a small hint though, the V8 in the E9x M3s is of a cross plant design as are just about every American V8 ever made. Firing order dictates sound. Most Italian V8s are flat plane.

yeah, they don't sound that great... but the corvette is below par compared to others in it's class and i'm actually prefer japanese cars. anyways, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, i don't care for a refined sound, just raw power... that's beautiful to me and there's nothing wrong with such a preference. i love cars, no matter where they come from... to say that european v8's have a superior sound... well, it's just not logical... epecially since you base that on what women think.

One of the huge factors in that is that most European V8s are flat plane v8s which is very different from most American engines. There is no reason that we couldn't make one, its just not as easy and to make one it would require a complete redesign to the small block chevy which would be blasphemous.
