The 315th Bomb Wing used Vernam Field,Jamaica, to train some of its planes for this mission over Japan. I would like to see those footage.Kennedysingh60@yahoo.com
1236bigcat there's no reason both sides can't be "bad guys"
You can see clearly in the video of the bombing that it isn't a precise strike - whole sections of urban life are carpet bombed and no one in the US air force or government gave a damn who was living there. The Japanese population paid the price for the imperialistic and racist decisions of their leaders. The American civilian population never paid such a violent price for the USA's imperialism or racism
@rvhawkeye dude its almost irrifutable now that america knew pearl harbour was going to happen and they let it happen so that they could enter the war, it wil only be a matter of time till it is shown the bush's let sept 11 happen so that they could invade iraq and wage war on islam. its a scrapgoat and they needed one and they made it happen.mark my words.
@0Zolrender0 What an idiot. "Almost irrefutable"? How can something be "almost irrefutable"? It either is or isn't. Glad we didn't have 2 depend on you and your generation to get us through the second world war. Moron!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@0Zolrender0: AH YES.... a LITTLE CHILD that hasn't a clue about the horror of World War Two.
So tell us LITTLE CHILD " what can YOU as a true "historian" of "facts" tell us of the HORRIFIC acts of the Japanese Imperial Army - THAT IS NOW AKNOWLEDGED AS EQUAL..... IF NOT WORSE IN GENOCIDE AS THE NAZIS - that us "know nothings" are so "ignorant about"?????
HINT: LEARN FACTS NOT "oh but I heard about"......
A-Bomb was redundant, and US never complied about it.
Japan was already about to surrender, but US Army and Government just wanted some nuclear experimentation testing on civilians before they could give up.
@Seleukos Are you not aware that the Imperial Japanese Army attempted to destroy the acetate recordings of Emperor Hirohito's speech to the Japanese people to lay down their arms? You might take note that when General MacArthur was called to Korea, the Japanese people lined the streets of Tokyo four and five deep, some with tears in their eyes, to say good-bye to the American general who treated them with great respect after their surrender.
@robertwbingo thats because macarthur was there to rebuild japan. and that he did...he we nt above and beyond orders to make sure it did rebuild and succed, and it became an ally of the US in doing so and powerful. so his mission succeded.
Dumb ass. Do you also believe in fairies and green men from mars.
If the Yanks had not dropped the two bombs, the sons of nippons bitches would have kept fighting and slaughtering untold thousands of American and other allied soldiers, sailors and airmen.
The one mistake the Americans made, was that they did not have enough A bombs & H bombs ready to erase Japan from the face of the earth.
Millions of Chinese and Phillipino civilians were killed, raped and otherwise tortured by sadistic Japanese soldiers. These were not simply "casualties of war", they were calculated and pointless acts of cruelty. We should have turned the "emporer" Hirohito over to the citizens of Nanking so that true justice could have been meted out to him. Many people defend Hirohito as being helpless against the Military rulers of Japan, but that's simply not true. He did nothing at all to stop the war...
It's amazing how the 'propagandists' of today shift the blame to the vanquishers of tyranical and racist WW2 Japan as lead by their Sun God Emperor family. Japanese Unit 731 was a covert bio/chemical research and development unit of the Imperial Japanese Army that undertook 1000s of lethal human experiments in WW2 not not unlike the Nazis.
Yet America's air power gets blamed as bad guys. The Emperor of Japan is still an Emperor, a disgrace, for which no justice is done by such blind critics.
@randy95023 and until now Japan is still denying their atrocities in the Philippines, 90 percent of Manila was destroyed ...the 17 million population of the philippines inthe 1940's was reduced to more or less 15 million.. w million filipinos died with 120,000 civilians in Manila alone, after the liberation the capital was declared the 2nd most devastated city after warsaw. Manila then was rich and multi culture.
GO USA! To those who call this sick propaganda, this is how it was, you had to fight. Japan would not give up even when it was over. We had to drop the bomb, it was the only way to end the war, and the fighting.
Aircraft always have been referred to as "ships". Even spacecraft are. A great deal of sea ship terminology is used in aviation (e.g., they still say "port" and "starboard"; the steering device on the tail is called a rudder; the crew is led by a captain, first mate, etc.). When aircraft were invented, they just adopted all these nautical terms, including calling the vessels "ships". It's a bit less common now than it was within a few decades of the birth of aviation, but not unheard of.
USA kicked ass all around, but you gotta give it to the Japs: they did pretty good. They lost, but they were very tenacious

@Kali1050 The mistake is that nobody had A and H bombs to destroy Americans : they slaughtered nearly completely the natives
