Yall funny.since when does it matter who name is first?..haha.yall sound like some elementary school kids.and Kanye aint trying 2 be Nas, he is being Kanye.shut up and enjoy this CLASSIC.
What I love about this number is that, you can make a case for every single one of these guys, claiming that they're the greatest of all time! Minus Kanye, of course.
Kanye's name is the first one on the video becaue people probably dont even know the last three since they dont listen to good hip-hop. A shame the greatest MC's dont go platnium in this world like they used to. Notable exceptions clearly are people like Eminem and 50.
Rakim is such a force - this brother always brings it, even if it's a feature spot on an album produced in Germany of all places, he always comes through with quotable lines that mince the most sagacious MC's. This is a classic joint, and when Rakim spits: Timeless, so age don't count in a booth, when your flow stays submerged in the fountain of youth" - well, that's just dope!!! Recently he did this freestyle where he rapped" To me a writer's block is a good block to write on." Just sick!
AHHH the classics I love it!!!! Nas killed it!!!!! THey should have had Jay-Z instead of Kanye West, but this is as close to a perfect song as you can get folks.
Back when kanye was legit HIP-HOP, he really was the man. Those album with Lupe and graduation were tight and right! But now... R.I.P. real hip-hop kanye.
look up kanye's coachella 2011 performance on YouTube if you think he is lame, the dude is not scared in taking the culture of hip hop to new territories.
I love KRS-One's optimistic spirit and his passion for learning. His voice is very inspiring. It takes some strong discipline to be informed on so many important topics in the way he is. He has definitely established himself as an authority on the topic of spirituality in my eyes. My appreciation to God for creating this man will live forever.
@drodude301, yeah man, you're so right. What the fuck is Kanye doing on this song? How the fuck is he a classic? He's like a fucking bacteria compared to Nas, Premier, Krs and Rakim!
If you don't have "Criminal Minded", "Paid In Full", "Illmatic", or "College Dropout" within 10 minute of your reach in your house...you're not really old school and cannot comment on this blog.
@crispykreamer Older rap had a lot of things, a lot of really good things. It had emotion, and it had feeling. It was honest. The thing is it only went as far as the performer was comfortable going, and none of them went too deep. They could talk political, social, TCQ talked religious later on. West had already by this point laid out an argumentative album against college, and on Late had the soul of family, of the game, of Kanye's darker side. I say HE'S THE GREATEST as a joke, but he's great.
@FatJackieChan Sorry but the only reason "he's great" is because he says so himself, frequently. The music industry could do with a few less Kanye Wests.
Awwwww, Rakim just KILLED THIS!!! Sick brother: "Timeless, so age don't count in the booth, when your flow stays submerged in the fountain of youth." Damn, this brother is nothing short of exemplary!
@BasedProphet92 first..Krs 1 is better than any fuckin 1..he's a lyrical genius and his beats r sick!second..if Kanye is a fuckin musician then what da fuck is he doing with Rakim Nas n Krs 1 .. there r hundreds of rappers way better then Kanye...i mean .. Bone thugs,Method man,Redma, i mean whole Wu tang, Onyx,Dmx,Pharoahe monch,SLICK RICK,mobb deep,Warren G,MOS DEF,Flava flav,Ice cube .. so what da fuck is he doin' here???!!!!
@lukahitler Yo, Kanye is a lyrical genius! He's been making universal classics since 04; timeless shit that we go back to all the time like Jesus Walks, School Spirit, and We Major are the exact things that this song is talking about! Those songs are fucking killer! So while his raps may not be as fast or hard as others, they are clever and have nice flow. That makes a Classic last I checked.
@FatJackieChan Yo FatJackieChan, Imma let you finish... but Kanye is only a genius when to comes to the later generations! Simply because people after 00's just wanted zesty beats, they didn't really care about lyrics after a while. People mistake comparing the the new lyricist from the old school, but when it comes down to it they had much smoother lyrics than those of today. Now a days, as long as it sounds great and you can dance to it everyone jumps on the wagon.
Kanye is on here because it's a bridge to mainstream - kanye = more views publicity etc... and also in a way breeds hip hop to manstream rap... But everyone including Rakim Krs and Nas know kanye can't compare to them
Ya'll can hate on Kanye West as much as you want, but face it; he's the only mainstream artist bringing any of the true soul of hip hop to the mainstream in any fashion. He's definitely not on the level as the rest of the dudes in this track... but cut him some slack.
I don't know why everyone hates on Lil Wayne . If you listen to songs like "Misunderstood" or "Moment of Clarity" or his verse in "Motivation" with Kelly Rowland or "6 Foot 7 Foot" , there's some genius lines in that . Lil Wayne's Carter 3 album went Platnium , that's a Million sales in the first week . He is an underrated genius . Real artists respect real artists .
@romanmarvel Carter2 was the best..he is prtty good nd hated on..but who gives a fuck how much records he sold dont solve anything but hes a good entertainer..
@romanmarvel haha i was high...anyways tho wtf u doin postin bout lil wayne on a song that has production from DJ premier nd a verse from RAKIM get the fuck outta here queer
@VKID88 I was just acknowledging that Lil Wayne is not a terrible MC. The fact that you're ignorant and calling people names has nothing to do with it. Rakim is forever a legend and most rappers today will not touch him. Don't get it twisted here lil girl .
@romanmarvel Na, KRS-One is "Forever" a legend, Rakim hasn't marked the world with jaw dropping flows man, KRS and many others are lyrical cocaine. Just my opinion i guess. Peace
@MrMoloney92 Jaw dropping flows? Rakim is probably the most classic person in this song other than KRS-One. The fact he became a legend in the game despite limited to mediocre success shows his raw skill. Rakim's flow and lyrics are classic. His rhymes are quoted and re-used in countless hip hop songs. You can have an opinion but at least have an idea of what you're talking about. Respect to everyone in this song though. Classic Premo sounds part of it remidns me of moment of truth.
as much as i love kanye.. he didnt have to be on this.. but the old him flowed nice tho i'll give him that.. and it is his track.. so regardless im happy he didnt say anything stupid on this
People hating on kanye is retarded, I have much respect for all the MCs and DJ Premier. With that being said Kanye is the only artist in this song to have went platinum with every cd hes put out. Respect his artistry!
I'm not gonna say kanye is shit on this song, cause he actually kills it. But they shoulda put raekwon and ice cube on this. Ice cube, nas and Rakim need to do an album together with all sick guests on it!
krs-one's verse is SO fucking true man . and as much as i hate that kanye west fag , he did good . and the beat is sick , this song is just the shit man .
This Track is Proof That HipHop Is Still Alive!!! premier was the best on this with the beat, followed by KRS-One that's why he went last, then Rakim why he went first, then Nas then last is kanye west, but they all did good on this.
but people like nas, rakim, krs-one are fucking icons! though kanye ripped this shit, he does NOT belong in this category... legends like bdkane, kool g, q-tip, phife, chuck d, ice cube or rick the ruler should have taken his place.

Copy and paste to all Nas' videos and all music videos let's get this shit noticed.

@WeedMeatAndBeats why the fk u dissing kanye? he actually kills it in this song and u must be deaf cause it seems u didnt hear watch the throne his verse in no church in the wild, new day, who gon stop me, niggas in paris, hes still and always was a beast
I really don't think ya'll understand what Kanye does for the game these days, I'm not always down with who he makes music with, but the fact is the cat has some serious lyrical skill and he brings a dope alternative element to hip-hop. Not to mention look at this dudes label, Talib Kweli, Common, Mos Def, Cudi, are all on G.O.O.D. Music. Kanye West is a pioneer of hip-hop no matter how big his ego is.
"When they do make the whip you like your chips aint right bythe time you can afford it the car aint important" - I can relate to this is soo many ways .. NAS is my favourite rapper man!!
The reason everyone is upset that Kanye is on this song is because the theme of this song is "classic". Compared to the other rappers, Kanye is new to the game, and therefore his music can't be considered as "classic". He's out of place.
"You went platinum, yeah that's nice. Now lemme see you do the same thing twice, three times four times then a couple of more times"
Damn even when Nas is being a dick he's smooth as fuck.

i love how all the reactions are Classic lol
MADMOOSE26 6 months ago
Classic means that it's timeless. Nas, Rakim, KRS and Premo obviously thought Kanye was good enough for them, who the hell are you to say otherwise?
Stop whining, sit back and enjoy instead.

The reason everyone is upset that Kanye is on this song is because the theme of this song is "classic". Compared to the other rappers, Kanye is new to the game, and therefore his music can't be considered as "classic". He's out of place.
