  • I do love disparate the top comments are.

  • Vocal arrangement annoying. But the big rich guitar swooshes are nice.

  • Heyyy do you know where i can download this from? I was told its on the future idiots offcial webpage but i cant find it anywhere

  • Fucking voice ruins it all... sounds like any crappy american band like Green Day or the likes... Joy's trademark was a suicide voice, not a shit toned one. xSSS

  • when i was first listening to this i thought it sounded too pop punky to reflect the sadness of the original. then i thought "wait, that would actually be really cool. if there were bands that made upbeat punk rock with really sad lyrics". then i realized that they do, it's called 90's midwest emo. like the promise ring

  • i love the music, bu the vocals are ok

  • @sk8erguy011 i totally agree the insturmental part is incrediable but the singer dosnt do it justice

  • Amazing, love this song, love this version

  • Greeeeeeeat cover nice job

  • If you wanna hear the original, go listen to the fucking original, you dumbshits, this is an excellent cover the key word being cover, not complete replica. Stop crying.

  • @Kenneth6195 Exactly! It's supposed to sound at least a bit different than the original, that's the purpose of a cover, isn't it? To put your own spin on a song? "Covers" are completely different from "carbon copies".

  • All my favourite scenes from control!

  • omg i wanna punch the guy who sang this...

  • nice cover, well played, I think the only thing which is missing is some sort of suffering pathos, which characterised all of Joy Division's performances. But the cover is nice...

  • you guys should cover 1985. ;)

  • dont know why everyones hating on this, i liked it, a nice cover, iv subbed (:

  • I think some of the criticism comes from a very basic place. The original song was, by necessity, a very dirty and straightforward performance. There were no frills, no bells and whistles. Ian's vocals are very raw and without technique; just straight expression of whatever he was feeling when the song was performed. One of the criticisms leveled at most pop rock is that it is too clean. It's too worked over and polished. I think by itself this track is all right, but by comparison it feels weak

  • wow i really like it, ignore all the other shiteaters a cover is supposed to be your own interpretation of a song and you did a fantastic job my only critisisms are that prehaps you voice could do with being a tad more deadpan (but thats only in opinion) and you really should get rid of the auto tune on the higher bits because they really take away from a good vocal preformace by seeming like the vocals arent 100 percent genuine on the whole though fucking ace! :)

  • hahahahah gilrlie cover of an amazing song lets mild out must be Cannadian.

  • ._.

  • The cover is good. I'm very critical for covers and I also have JD covers. Maybe it's a little "pop" for this kind of music, but I think there is nothing bad in this version. You sing well, but try to make something more substancial, mature than this and it will be even better.

  • I wasn't really into it until the main riff came on, but after that I was sold. I especially like how around 1:54 the drums and bass drop out and it's just the guitar riff. It's a simple guitar part, but it's a great one. Nice work.

  • folks, it's called a COVER, not a REPLICA.

  • ill tell u a real band who would do an asume cover of dis is The Editors Tom Smith (lead vocals, would go down well on dis tarck

  • UTTER SCUTTER.

  • masterfag

  • this version kicks ass

my band was planning on doing sum punk versions of JD's songs

  • Joy Division ain't Blink.

  • Awful.

  • fucking awsome! you rock, guys!

  • Horrible vocals.

  • Unoriginal bollocks. Why can't they just sing normally. It's god, not gaaawwwd. Fuckin dickheads

  • Why all the hate? I thought this cover was brilliant.. Good job, the vocals too, really liked it!

  • Think about it... its a COVER. Its obviously not going to be exactly the same as how Joy Division performed it. At least they tried.

  • You guys are awesome. I bet you did a really good tribute in your way.

Could you give me the chords you use on the chorus ?

  • i like this nice try

but the vocals are bad, interesting, but bad

the bass is so much louder when is the principal in the songs of joy division

the guitar does not play chords!!!

and stop singing as a teenage

    sorry for my bad english

  • less of the american twinge on the vocals and you'd be alright.

  • @Futureidiots Way to win over more fans for your shitty band. Would respect your vocals more if they weren't blatantly auto-tuned.

  • nothing wrong with it, but therz nufin "right" with it, the music is identical to joy idivisions version so tbh itts a good cover but an awful version. if you get my meaning

  • its alright, although im not too fond of the singing

  • Love it

  • A piece of shit

  • What a piece of shit. Ian Curtis would kill himself again if he could hear this.

  • @tobyandmaya You could do it to yourself to.

  • @tobyandmaya If i where curtis i would be happy that a band made a cover of my music =]

  • @tobyandmaya Go fuck a goat.

  • I think it's a great cover. What the fuck is the point of doing a cover if EVERYTHING is going to be the fucking same as the original song?

  • fuck the haters

    this version is incredible

not as good as the original, but that's more or less impossible

    good job

  • its very indie...i like it

  • I really appreciate that you guys gave the song an original spin. I fucking hate when a cover sounds the same as the original. What's the fucking point? Well done guys.

    fuck the haters.

  • AWESOME!

  • I've been a Joy Div fan for more than 20 years. Disorder is my favorite song. I've heard a lot of bad covers of ths song. But this one is really cool. Good job guys and congrats to your drummer who's respecting the hi hat accents which make the flavour of this great song.

  • fucking awesome, i don't know why people are hating on you. my only concern is the vocals. the accent is fine, the other part is just a bit wierd.

  • the voice is to pop guys..... looses energy

  • loved the vocals

  • Excelent Cover!!!!

  • Wahou ! quelle excellente reprise ! I really like the vocals. For once, somerbody's not trying to sing like Ian. Great job guys. And remember, on May 18th 2010, it will be 3 decades since Ian passed away

  • the vocals are gash. its ace apart from that;)

  • This is amazing. I am a huge fan of Joy Division and I was aprehensive about this at first because I thought it would'nt do justice to the excellent original. However I was dead wrong. Please do more JD covers, you definitely deserve the honour to do so after this cover of my favourite JD song.

  • I hate the vocals.

  • @Ange8 yeah the vocals suck dead donkey balls

  • bullshit the vocals = gash

  • this song makes me think of my own self-esteem along with my exhaustion of being alive and just feeling as though i am only existing and not living...

If you have ever seen Control, and truly feel these words out...you will totally understand his lyrics. This song sounds very desperate, very "I HAVE HAD IT!".

  • Sounds like T Payne singing Joy Division

  • I really really love this cover!!!!!!

  • The vocals make it seem a pop song.

  • And that is not a good thing at all

  • I usually cringe at joy division covers but this is actually really good, a little less force on the vocals and you've got a winner! Well done!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing, simply amazing cover. I love Joy Division, entire respect towards them. Naturally, there's is musically more fascinating, but this cover is very comforting, and enjoyable.

  • like the video. good quality cover. 5 for the vid n' 4 for the cover i'd give.

  • FOR ME ITS GOOD, I LOVE UR VOICE, AND I LOVE THAT YOU ARE A REAL FAN OF JOY DIVISION,You took DISCOMFORT TO MAKE A COVER.

I LOVE UR COVER!!! 5 STARS!

  • I Liked It!

Your voice change a lot the real song, but i think this cover is really good

    Congrat.!

  • I'm not going to mention the vocals because you've taken enough flak...but it's a pretty solid cover. It has a slight pop-punk edge, not sure if you were going for that but it makes for an interesting listen.

  • Maybe you should spend less time on Youtube and more time not singing like a f&*^ing d-bag :)

  • fucking agreed

  • I said the music sounded good. It wasn't that it was faster than I thought it should have been that bothered me. It was your shitty J-rock vocals that ruined it.

  • Excellent cover, INCLUDING HE VOCALS. "Control" was an amazing movie. I think this is a very respectful and well-produced tribute. Good job!

  • Fuck the haters. Still an awesome cover.

  • I really like the music. I think it sounds good, if a little fast. And I liked the vocals ok... until I heard the refrain. Sounds too clean and hopeful, like Christian rock. Not as dark or slow as it should be. It's jarring and a little creepy, like if someone were to do an upbeat cover of Strange Fruit. The non-refrain parts have a kind of upbeat flatness that I kinda like, though.

  • Like it,nice work

  • Great cover! I can't see why people bother so much bout the vocals, you just brought your own style to the song. Really cool

  • It's cool, but I don't like the vocal at all.

  • Sure sure. Though I doubt you could do a better job even if you realy tried you talentless bunch of no-marks.

  • Well, good, I hope you've done them better!

  • Music is good but the vocals are lame.

  • sped up tempo makes for a nice punk cover so far i hear an indie cover a new wave and this punk cover all i need to hear is a metal version anyways th original is great

  • loool its blink!

    not bad a coverr

  • kinda sweet, a bit over the top on the "I've got the spirit, but lose the feeling" part. Cute nonetheless.

  • Again I listen, again I love. You have had, and still have a giant fan.

  • Cheese-water.

  • Sounds like it would be good live but a little bit teenage dirtbag for me.. well done though.

  • this is great!

  • Very nice music

  • cool

  • The name of the band is right on. I don't like clowny pop music. Why did they do this? How do they capitalize on this? Is there a new pop movie or somthing?

  • I like your cover version and the clip. Well done.

  • just saw you were swedish... makes me even more amazed... bra jobbat för fan :) lyssnar på den här hela tiden, runt 2:10, den delen är så otroligt magisk... :)))

  • let's dance for joy division - The Wombats

  • it was alright but not nearly as good as joy division does it ofc

  • that guy at 0:38 looks so much like ian curtis

  • the video is 'control'

    ian's bio movie..

  • aha i didnt realize that until i got into it

as a side note that movie is amazing

  • Almost better than the original!

I love how you've sped it up and shit but still managed to keep a bit of the atmospheric feeling!

I also like the little parts you added.

  • keaneterpol, we wouldn't dream of taking charge of a cover, there's a link in the info where you can download the cover for free ;)

  • You guys are going places

  • fucking love this

  • Awesome song, awesome vid.

  • Are you sure? wiggy1988 thinks that the disney style vocals wouldn't go amiss on High School Musical :o

  • nice cover m8s, vocal could be much better but still its great

    cheers

  • keaneterpol, with so many negative comments on this video, your comment was such a breath of air. Thanks a lot! :D

  • wiggy1988, although a bit harsh is not entirely false. It sounds a lot like Yellowcard and some late 90's group influenced by JD, The Pixies etc. but personnaly I like the little changes in the bass line and the lead voice, even if not as deep and powerful as Ian's is still very lyrical and nice to listen to.

    Cheers! Good Job!

  • i like this cover..it's very personal

well it turns quite pop at 2.00, biu it's fine

  • "is this cover so amazingly bad??!!"

Its not bad, it just lacks everything that made the song special. Its turned from grungy, rough, and trully heartfelt song by a songwriter who really felt what he sang into something that Mcfly might have on their new album. Its got no soul, its been polished so much that the darkness of the song is lost in disney style vocals that wouldn't go amiss on High School Musical.

  • Oh SO true! That's just what I had in mind when the first time "I've got the feelaaaaayng" came.

This cover has this "come, sing along - charme"

    There is no real feeling.

  • Wow you can really tell you paid atention to this song, dumb ass! Nowhere in this cover, nor the original, is the frase "I've got the feeling" used.

Your comment has this "bland ignorant - charme"

    There is no real feeling.

  • Your a fucking pillock.

"I've got the spirit, but lose the feeling

    Feeling"

-I think its safe to say at this point that your comment has backfired quite dramatically

  • I think it's safe to say...

    WTF are you rambling about!

Were you trying to say that he does sing Feeeliing in the end? That doesn't count because Ian Curtis sing's that in the original version to so it's not a added "pop mainstream" thing by this band. And if you didn't mean that, I have no fucking clue what you're on about :P

  • This is what you said-

"Wow you can really tell you paid atention to this song, dumb ass! Nowhere in this cover, nor the original, is the frase "I've got the feeling" used."

    0:53

"I've got the spirit, but lose the feeling

    Feeling"

3:33 "Feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling"

So its pretty damn clear that the lyrics are in the song (this one and the original) and that you are a complete pillock

  • What kind of a moron are you?

I said that the frase, "I've got the feeling" wasn't in the song, I didn't say that the fucking word Feeling wasn't used in the song, you jackass!

Because he totaly messed up that frase, which should be "I've got the spirit", it seemed as if he didn't pay much attention, and that's why I said what I said.

Fuck, you even quoted my exact words and didn't realize what I was saying.

-It is safe to say that you're comment is one of the dumbest I've ever seen!

  • First its "phrase" not frase for christs sake.

Second, are you trying to tell me you got your knickers in a twist because somebody said "I got the feeling" instead of "lose the feeling" because if so, no wonder I didn't spot it. I had no idea anyone could be so petty!

third, you like Blink182 so obviously your going to love cheesy, mundane, poppy vocals. Go back to watching camp rock

  • Yes thats why my knickers got in a twist.

And it doesnt matter if I like love poopy vocals, thats not the point! He messed up the "PHRASE" so I didnt take his review serioulsy, its not a small petty mistake if youre a fan of Joy Division and know the lyrics inside out. But I guess one cant listen to both Blink 182 and Joy Division, because if you like one genre you cant like an other, rigth? You narrow-minded prick! And camp rock, seriously? Yeah it just reaks of intellegense from that remark.

  • Oh and I misspelled reeks for you so you would have someting petty to complain about ;)

  • What, rather than just poor arse spelling this time?

  • "I like love POOPY vocals"

I believe that sums it up nicely.

And yes it is being petty, especially since the person in question was trying to critique the style of the cover rather than transcribing the lyrics.

Narrow minded! shit mate. I listen to everything from Martin Simpson to Strapping young lad, but even I know Blink182 are shite.

  • I said:

"It doesnt matter if I like love poopy vocals"

It doesnt mean I do, I was just trying to get to the point, wich you obvioulsy couldnt do on your own. Kind of ironic how you're being petty on my spelling when your whole problem from the beginning was me being petty.

Can you feel the irony, shite head?

" I listen to everything from Martin Simpson to Strapping young lad, but even I know Blink182 are shite."

I think thats the definition of being narrow minded rigth there, matey.

  • If I was being petty I would have corrected your crappy spelling straight away, but you carried on using it to a point were it just got annoying.

I even saw the irony myself, but fuck it. It was worth it just to get you to stop spelling phrase as frase.

2-No thats the definition of eclectic taste in music and good taste. A narrow minded person wouldn't listen to folk, metal, classical, madchester etc etc

Blink 182 are still shite btw

  • You know what, I cant lower my self to your enormous stupidity any further, you just crossed the neanderthal line, and I cant follow you there. Its like talking to a 5 year old

"Your toys suck, all my toys are the best cuz I say so"

Now just replace the word toys with music and that's were you are.

You are one of the most ignorant, self absorbed human beings I've ever encountered. 13 year old jonas brothers fan girls have better arguments than you. I'm relieving myself of your madness.

  • pretty sure I just got this message from the "futureidots"

  • And now we're gonna come clean guys. This is a mainstream cover!!! Made to appeal to a different audience that maybe haven't heard about Joy Division.

This is a tribute to Joy Division, not you!

There are some awful, awful covers on youtube, but they, most of the time, get praise words and such, we get freakin critic know-it-alls on this.

Give us a god damn break! Or is this cover so amazingly bad??!!

  • Most of the time we get complaints about our singer having a much to low and weird voice and not enough mainstream like our other singer, and here you come, claiming it's sounds like a teenage boyband. We're gonna take it as a compliment.

  • Sorry, but the voices...

Ian had this wonderfull deep voice, yours are pretty much those of some teenage boyband.

Smoke as much cigarettes, that's not going to change.

  • love the instrumentals but the vocals not so much.. but excellent cover none the less! 5 stars

  • I honestly have to say, I can keep watching this video over and over and over and NEVER get tired of it.

    Again, great, great job.

  • I suppose you guys might not be my style of music. But if I had to compare you guys to someone you sound a bit like a cross between Green Day/harder Blink 182. I know my friends would dig it and pay to see you play. In your neck one the woods (Sweden?) -- I kinda dig music like Ane Brun, Koop ... you know. I tell you what though -- some of the best music in the world is coming right out of your country. Sweden's like the new musical Mecca.

  • That being said -- I'm going to check out your website.

  • I always believe that with a cover version you either have one of two choices. You bust it up into something totally different or you play the heck out of the original with such a fervor that the original band can't help but be awed. You guys can play -- no doubt. I'm just saying muddy it up a little. In fact -- your lead singer has a voice ten times that Ian ever had -- but Ian just happened to fit. If we didn't like a little ugliness in our music we'd all prefer Nat King Cole to Bob Dylan. ;)

  • No offence to my fellow reviewers but this is a cover, and in a cover you are free to use what ever emotions you choose for your own interpretation. You're not suppose to mimic the singer or what he felt when he sang the song. Those are the elements for a tribute more than a cover. In a cover you bring new elements to the song and make it your cover and nobody else's.

  • It sounds, well great.

but like "BillClintonn" said, its hard to mimic such emotion. (Curtis that is)

By the way, i checked out your website, its great, and so's the music.

(the live vid too, awesome) keep on going and im sure you'll all go to the tops. :)

  • Professional reviews guys, though one is obviously negative, it's still very mature and honest. Something you don't get on youtube that often precisely.

  • You've been told at least a dozen times that it was too clean. Glad to see it's at least sinking in.

  • It's a bit too clean. What I mean is -- obviously you guys have better equipment and sound quality -- but beyond that. The real flaw in this version is that you turn a really hardcore song of angst into a sort of popish radio-friendly sounding anthem rock song. Good idol to have -- but this remake is lacking. Ultimately -- like with all good music -- you can't mimic true feeling in a song. It's an intangible that fans can hear right away.

  • I like it...an excellent rendition of an all time classic. Some of the newer elements (the harmonies on the verse) I was not a big fan of, but they did fit in their own little way. And the guitar solos were nice.

All and all, good job! :)
