  • Brilliant! Loved it =D

  • Wonderful. Loved it.

  • beautiful, what's more I understand the biology behind your song.

Who says science diminishes the beauty of a rainbow by explaining how it works? It only enhances the beauty. Love robert sapolsky's lectures too. Thanks

  • This video went viral on Abu Dhabi

  • Awesome dude truly brilliant!

  • 21 people failed biology

  • Wonderful~Finals coming up lol~

  • These videos are brilliant and ingenious. I;m going to use them as a teaching resource in school. Are you planning on making anymore for other science topics?

  • omg its so cute it a weird kinda a way being a teen in 7th grade its really helpful so thankyou

    .....lol

  • Your mental I love it

  • It would be a lot better if the lyrics ended like "You gave me nutrients, transcription factors, nearly everything that matters, BUT DAD GAVE ME A BIKE ON MY BIRTHDAY SO GTFO!" xD

  • this video doesn't work on facebook anymore - I think it's the "buy this song" box you added (?) The video worked on facebook since mother's day and now it doesn't so I hope you will undo whatever you changed. The viral nature of facebook is probably more important to sales than the box that says search itunes - that's just my theory on what's making it not work since that's the only thing that seems new. great song! I posted it on my facebook wall ten days ago - stopped working today

  • our bio lecturer recommended this to our class of 200 students - it's awesome :)

  • a friend recommended this and it is SOOOO awesome, as a science geek and a huge fan of my mama and now a mama myself I just think this rocks - THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS!!!

  • This is just about the best thing I've ever seen.

  • Is that Krishna on the artwork for this song on iTunes?

    I love it

  • Bravo! I love it. Thanks for the creative, humorous, musical, encouraging video. More, please. :) God bless you.

  • So touching

  • you're like the bob dylan of biology haha

  • Thumbs up if you are a Biologist who loves their mom.

  • our biology teacher showed this video to all 60 of her students. it's that good!

  • He sounds like the dude from the Mountain Goats....is it?????

  • Your mother must have been thrilled. Well done sir.

  • hmm not on Grooveshark yet.......any chance for that to happen?? ;^)

  • Love the alter ego floating head coming in with the harmony

  • totally showing this to my biology class today xD

  • Anybody else wonder what he'll do for Father's Day?

  • LOL omg- this is epic!!!!!!! Very well done!!

  • She's on Facebook

  • Rebecca Coder in Bellefontaine, Ohio!

  • my friend Rebeccah who is an 8th grade science teacher in Bellefontaine, Ohio really likes you. She's awesome. She showed your video to her class and knows all the words. I hope you look her up.

  • I love this song!

  • this is genius.

  • My Son, a biology teacher, sent this to me. I forwarded it to my son-in-law who too is a biology teacher. And I shared it on Facebook-brilliant, funny, and true! Thank you for acknowledging Mom's contribution!! xxoo

  • THIS IS AWESOME!!!

  • Adorable!! Thanks mom for the glucocortocoids that helped to shape my thyroid development...

  • I love this video, and so does my one year old! Your mom must be proud.... I am! Tom and I watched a whole bunch of your videos in our office the other day. Love them all! -Sarah (ES180b???)

  • who is the bearded guy that appears in the background? I know him from somewhere... He is obviously a biologist but where?

  • @kft4v92 Dr Sapolsky from stanford!!! he saved my ass in neuroscience bc of his youtube lectures!!!

  • Sperm are full of mitochondria? Since when ? Why do you think that geneticists look at maternal inheritance using the mitochondria? It is in a much larger proportion passed by the mother.

  • sperms are full of mitochondria you dummy, check your facts

  • Cadanole now please do a happy fathers day one, so cool just learn a lot so cool cute song btw

  • This is a great song !

  • If you released this on iTunes I would buy it. Excellent. :)

  • @StephTBear44 You are in luck (or maybe I am in luck) because this is already on iTunes!

  • I showed this to my bio prof. Her response?

"The sooner you can get this guy to put a ring on your finger, the better."

    Challenge accepted.

  • Awesome! I might just have to show this to my graduate students for class.

  • I had to watch this for my biology class..

Nd actually turned out that ilike it

  • @shmisig oops, the 's in moms is a typo

  • This is really cute and you seem like a really smart kid, but I can't help thinking about all the sleepless nights spent nursing, burping, up with fevers, runny noses, parent/teacher meetings, performances, heart aches, toothless smiles, broken bones, soothing upset toddler because he lost favorite stuffed animals and other countless things that make being a great mom (which I'm sure your mom is) and what about all the mom's that adopted? DNA is the easy part.

  • @shmisig You mean all the things mother's day thoughts and praise is usually about?

I mean come on, this is a clever and fresh angle on the whole thing.

  • What a sweet guy. Takes me back to my days studying Bio and the old Tom Leara songs

  • Awesome awesome awesome!!!!

  • This song is made of awesome!

  • I bet this was made procrastinating for finals :)

  • I love this sooooo much, I guess it is the loveliest mother's day song I've ever heard!!! <3

  • this is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Two electrical engineers here at MIT love this song, amazing work!

  • aw you cute nerdy thing you...

  • This AP Biology teacher is going to play it in class today. Oy . . . what's not to like about it!

  • This is awesome--my biochemist husband also thought it was great

  • AAAAH AAAH AAAAAAAH

    GEEEENIUUUUUUUUUUUS!!!!!!

  • Kudos from a biologist daughter and a biologist mom who both loved this song.

  • Wow, your parents must be SO PROUD of you!! You're so smart and clever. What a great son! (Tearing up at the end.)

OK, a shout out to my mom: Happy Mother's Day! i love you!!

(but frankly I do wish I had more of dad's genes. His were pretty darn good in the looks dept, which is why you fell for him! Unfortunately the aesthetically better "looking" genes aren't necessarily the dominant ones I guess.

Hey Biologist "cadamole", can you explain that one??? ;-)

  • This mother of a biologist's child loves it. It's about time mitochondria got a shout-out.

  • What a sweet song! Very well done... Personally, I can't relate to it AT ALL, because I was adopted, so our love for each other isn't based on our biology >__> But for most people out there, yes, sweet song ^_^;

  • i see you robert sapolsky

  • Awesome :)

  • The computer scientists would like you to do a techno ditty for fathers' day. How about it?

    Seriously, this was very cool.

  • This song was relevant to me because I am a biologist and have a mother.

Oh and I totally am going to play this on her voicemail and pretend I wrote it. That's cool, right?

  • Haha! Brilliant!

  • science rules!

  • This biologist loves it!

  • Best Mother's Day song ever! Sincerely, A Classical Philologist

  • that was really good. You have a mathematician's approval

  • @jalen441 come on, it's a joke ;)

  • 14 people are chemists xD

  • @agm642 I'm a chemist and I love this song!

  • @agm642 i'm a biochem major and i found this hilarious lol

  • I LOVE IT! I hope you plan teach biology one day!

  • This would be perfect for Sesame Street, The Electric Company, An ABC after school special, a film strip in 6th grade, etc.

  • Even though mitochondria is inherited from mom, the sperm is still one of the most mitochondria dense cell of the human body.

  • This is great :)

  • This is awesome! Thanks for posting it!

  • apparently 13 people as of this post don't like biology.

  • Perfect!

  • Very cute! Love it!

  • @tdsthomas fuckin hater. the fuck outta here...

  • @tdsthomas Think of something that rhymes with mitochondria and get back to me.

  • @cadamole hypochondria

  • @cadamole stria

Or Ganglia kinda works. And both are bio terms too :P

  • @cadamole Hypohondriaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaac...

  • @cadamole GENIUS!!!

  • @cadamole Censurer~!!!!!

  • @cadamole

Scoria, you know the rock, rhymes with mitochondria

  • @tdsthomas The creative rhymes are the best part of this song. Since when are "perfect" rhymes essential to good lyrics??

  • @tdsthomas you dont have to rhyme every single verse, noob

  • @tdsthomas hater

  • BRILLIANT~!!! :^)

  • about how hes more like his mom check out the hair lol nice!

  • Props to Aubrey De Gray @ 3:05!

  • Ur so awesome man and its easy to see the love and passion in this song u just seem like a really genuinely good person and im glad ur moma brought you into this world.

  • amazing!

  • OMG!! That's my professor!!

  • my biology teacher (from LTHS) made show this video to my mom for mothers day... now i have to write a 1 paragraph reaction to this video -__-

  • This is great! Your mom is a lucky mom to have a son as clever and positive as you. Either that or it isn't luck, but just her genes passed on. Either way, you rock and therefore, your mom must rock too. (<:

  • i saw this on a new's channle, and looked it up :) it's awesome! :D

  • Funny, touching, life-affirming! You are so talented. Thanks!

  • super love it!!!

  • Love, love, love this video....as a daughter, a mother and a physician I just love it...cannot wait to share it with my kids...especially with their father!

As for my mother...she knows it....I always told her that....not in such an eloquently scientific way though!

  • Demeaning to fathers?! Everything in that song is a biological fact. If that offends you, take it up with Mother Nature, not this guy. Does the 100th digit of pi really piss you off as well?

  • @keytoe42: Agree 100%. I had leared these in biology classes and my med school years just cemented that knowlegde.

  • This is a great video!!!!

  • Hahah, this is epic. And about it demeaning fathers and all that :( Bah humbug. This is perfect for single mothers or mothers that have divorced and remarried or not. Kudos to you guys for making the best vids on youtube!!!

  • Best. Mother's. Day. Video. Ever.

  • @alexjohnc3 you're an idiot.

  • @1rishqt2 no u

  • How cute!

    LOVE biology

  • NIce job, man! I understood less than half of that, but I get the idea! Lol!

  • Thanks for sharing. So much fun.

  • let me add this verse:

thats why I don't have that missing chromosome 21 Lala lalalalallalala. ..

  • Y-chromosome contains 86 genes

  • This is the cutest and most informative video!

  • Very Epic!

  • EPICC!

  • dont forget about antibodies-without the passive memory response provided by the IgG antibodies your mother gave you through the placenta, you probably wouldnt have survived your first few days!

  • Epic!!

  • This song makes me cry. :( THANK YOU MOM, I LOVE YOU

    ...I LOVE YOU TOO DAD.

  • This is so great! Thanks for sharing. I hope my sons are half as grateful as you are to your mom--maybe even a little more than half....

  • EX OVO OMNIA!

  • The part of me that is supposed to be studying for Developmental Biology thanks you.

  • more than half? i don't get it...i always thought it was half and half...

  • @kentclarkocoumiroku2 The whole song is about things you got just from your mother. Listen to it again and you'll get it.

  • @kentclarkocoumiroku2

Its half the genetic material that you acquire from your parents. But the egg contains a lot of organelles, and other material that will replicate in the cells during development. Sperm just carries genetic material to the egg, so alot of the cellular machinery that isn't prescribed by your DNA is handed down from mother to child.

  • @kentclarkocoumiroku2 "slightly more than half" also because the X chromosome from the egg contains more information than the Y chromosome from the sperm.

  • This isn't going to help me with Wednesday's Mol. Bio exam...but I'm glad I've found it.

  • Truly fantastic on several levels! Now I feel even more honored that you did the Jessica song.

  • Happy Mother's day - That's how a geek/nerd tells it to her mom. Wicked cute

  • I finally signed up for you tube just so I could give this a thumb's up.

  • This is too good! I'll post this in my class!!!

  • this is awesome! your mom must be so proud :)
