Adrienne, it's simply a wonderful alternative recipe for a classic recipe. And when 20 guests at a recent dinner gathering (plus a birthday party with even more guests) ALL asked for more, we knew it was a winner. So I say try it out, and enjoy - You'll be delightfully surprised, I'm sure. Bon Apetite!
Angela, ignore the negative comments - you are a great cook with a lovely cheerful personality. The negative comments were completely baseless.
But I also think it would be great if this could be a CONTINUING Expert Village video with the entire recipe. So why not film her making the entire recipe? My bet is that all the people with negative comments will try out the recipe. Then they may think twice after get multiple compliments from the guests they serve. Cook on, Angela!
@chettmansberger Thank you so much for your kindness. These videos were created during a difficult time in the family but we made things work! Some people made horrible comments, but that is ok. I am sorry people did not understand to click for the next episodes and that they did not know how to listen with HQ. Soon there will be other videos..I do have my own website too,,,check it out.. and thanks for your kindness and sorry I just read this 3 years later,,,
Angela, My birthday is this Sat., and I'll be making this for the gathering! Your comment, "We made things work" had me in happy tears. Both sides of my family have faced days of making due. My Scottish/Irish ancestors had little but carrots and potatoes to live on. Some had sheep, so milk, meat, cheese too. At 94, my Dad still remembered bread & butter supper days during the Depression in NY.. But ALL of them shared with whoever was hungry. Now THAT made them all rich!
expert village from what I have seen myself and heard from others do not know what they are doing nor are they very efficient in video making, they make ten five minuete videos for something that can be shown in just one video thats 5 minutes long. this video shows even more how unknowledgeable they are. There is no subsitute for mascarpone, ecspecially with cream cheese. Why?well for starters why use cheese? mascarpone isnt even cheese at all its more related to fat. check its nutrition label
A subsitute that fits the fat label,is whipped cream, but even then its not tiramasu. Tirasmasu is mascarpone, savoiardi(lady fingers),egg yolks&whites,expresso/strong coffee, and coco powder. Thats why its called a recipe, if the ingrediants are taken out, it takes away from what its suposed 2 be. The latter 2 ingrediants can be more 2 tastes, just at least use a strong coffe taste, coco powders sub can be dark unsweetened baking chocolate squares ground fine like powder then put on with sifter
Good thing i don't watch expert village only howdini and what the HECK this woman or lady is talking about

That was a video? Just a woman saying you can use cream cheese instead of mascarpone cheese? Wow, any idiot could figure that out.
Buy mascarpone at the store or make it yourself. Cream cheese is nothing compared to mascarpone.
