  • I love Dusty Springfield.....always did! What a voice & what a stage presence.

    May she rest in peace

  • She had a very tough life. Rough and unhappy for the most part. Being gay during her era was very tough.

  • @rockville34 You are certainly correct. Dying of breast cancer at a young age was the final blow.

  • @rockville34 ... it seems like everyone (EXCEPT ME) at one time or another was homo,.... or some kind of other sex pervert... especially when they're not alive to defend themselves... Dusty is Dusty, and it's no one's right to speculate about anone's private life.

  • had a serious crush on her at 8 then at 14 i heard she was a lesbien and had a serious wank to her

  • @jamees1904 lol

  • the 1950's were amazing! everyone was friendly, unlike today.

  • @lomaine08 Your sadly mistaking if you think this is 50's music.

  • I really liked Volbeat's version, so I came here to check this out. And now I remember that there was a time when pop music was actually quality. Why wasn't I born in the 1950's? This woman is amazing!

  • I have loved this song from the day it was released, It was the day i met my first husband (now deceased) and the first song we listened to together, it became "our song" and it still makes me cry whenever i listen to it. Dusty Springfield had a lovely quality to her voice that will never be rivalled.

  • For me, the greatest female vocalist, in decades of listening to pop, etc, that I've ever heard.

  • I was Born in 1963 & listened to Dusty all the my Mom & Dad Loved Dusty's Music :-)

I had some fun times as a kid :-)

  • boy this song brings back memories what a great time in music, what a great voice and looks also

  • Love this song. Brings me back to early 1964 just after the beginning of the British invasion and the Beatles. The strings in the instrumetal part in the middle of the song are everything I love about the music of the early 60s. Dusty, you are fabulous!

  • I don't think Dusty would approve of an anti Obama commercial as a lead off to her song.

  • @sugrwillie, I would. There are far too many pro-Obongo commercials here.

  • One of my favorite songs sung by a female . Loved her.

  • She was such an awesome singer. What a voice. Brings back such great memories for me from growing up in the 60's. Loved all her songs but especially this one. Thanks for the memories!

  • I just love her unique voice! its a pity she is not here anymore...she is lovely too!

  • How Can ANYONE Not Love This Song?..it has to be People that were Screwed over by Their Lovers and THIS Song Reminds them of it" ..what Other reason could it be other than Their Just Totally Crazy??~O:"

  • nice bud i like te cover more: VOLBEAT - " I ONLY WANNA BE WITH YOU"

  • @rendas93 the first Volbeat song I heard and the only one I like. You have to give her credit for the melody and chord arrangement, which is (I think) 85% of what makes the song work for Volbeat.

  • This is one of the great pops songs of all time. I have loved it since It first came out in the mid 60s. I was in high school then. I particularly love the way she articulates "honey" at 2:08. The picture at 007 is glorious. James Bond would agree. As Marc Cohn sings: "some trains leave way to soon." Dusty's definitely did.

  • i love this song brings me back my mother passaway that year and how i allso had a cruch on her five years later i was in nam and still played this song when i was their god bless dusty

  • The first 7 seconds (instrumental intro) of this song are the BEST in music

  • the best!

  • Love Dusty forever.... thanks so much for posting this!

  • Lovely song. Fantastic artist!

  • bay city rollers!

  • A Lady of many faces!...and a great performer, taken from us too early.....

  • Fantastic...dancing in the office :-)

  • Such a SWEETIE!!! Such a voice. Even when she was with her brothers, "Buffalo Springfield", Cancer SUCKS!!! Breast cancer took her WAY TOO SOON!!! IDK what else to say, but she is fondly remembered, & sadly missed!

  • I've come to love this song it is now one of my favouraite love songs, Makes me think of the one I love ♥

  • she solidified my luv for English birds.....^/^

  • 2012... I still enjoy it as if it was the first time I listened to it...

  • timeless!

  • great singer and a great looking woman !

  • Timeless

  • ... back again...-) super!!!

  • Man when I was 13 I had such a crush on her...puberty started

  • @buffspringfield Well, no one can blame you. She was a good looking woman.

  • @catman916 Me too

  • @buffspringfield Did you partake in masterbation at the thought of her?

  • @buffspringfield Too bad your dreams could never come true, though. At least Lesley Gore's could have, if you get me.

  • @buffspringfield: Did the thought of her help you produce your first ejaculation?

  • @ccmm53095 That sounds like a good title for a song

  • @DEADEYEDUCK88

No, it's shame she died of cancer.

  • @buffspringfield me too!

  • @buffspringfield And now?

  • @buffspringfield Ditto. I'm 13 and I have a crush on singer Olivia Mitchell, fellow youtuber. check her out!

  • I always thought this would have been the MONSTER hit it deserved to be in the U.S. if it had been released just a few months later- in the spring of '64, as part of the British Invasion which had of course hit in February with The Beatles. Timing is everything.

  • You won't get talent like this on The Fix Factor. God bless you Dusty , God gave us a wonderful gift and took it from us way to soon....you xx

  • I SO love this song - it's always been one I sing along with. I remember other versions - Bay City Rollers and Nicolette Larson, but nobody beats Dusty. Ironically, when I worked at an oldies radio station, they wouldn't play this ... because it wasn't Top Ten!!! (ridiculous management) Thanks for posting!!

  • Annie Lennox covered this when she was with The Tourists. Very faithful to this version. This one is better, of course ;)

  • This is what I call "singing"!!!!

  • Every generation has it's greats!Thank God for music!!!

  • Agree with Catman. You can't be down in the dumps when this song is playing.

  • Don't start me on Dusty.......XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • Her best song... beautiful woman with a great voice.

  • What a singer and what a record. Thanks!

  • The most gorgeous woman to ever sing a song EVER !!

  • I was 10 year boy ,with an AM transistor radio but this song turned my insides out!

  • I am going to say this AGAIN....

So this is what an angel sounds like!

  • This song is the story of my life now.

  • Dusty is the business..............XXX

  • awesome

  • Hey, YT, I waaaaant a REPEAT BUTTON!

  • And now I am on fire!!!!!!!!!!!

  • volbeat!!!!!!!

  • i just discovered few months back how good a singer is dusty..during her time, there were so many talented singers and bands...she definitely deserves to be one of the best singers in this lifetime..is she in the hall of fame?or a dame title from her country?

  • man,.. so long a time ago it seems... I loved her voice. It was one of those songs that just doesn't leave you...

YOU JUST HAD TO BE THERE so just leave it to us 'oldies'... ~8)

  • Volbeat bitches!

  • DUSTY ONE OF THE BEST EVER GREAT SONG (R.I.P.) GEATOR/JERRY BLAVATT GREAT DJ NO MOBSTER!

  • oldy but have a meaning

  • Volbeats song is much better!!!!!!

  • Four malcontents would rather be with someone else. Oh well, their loss. What a wonderful voice from my youth. She was magic.

  • I had a real crush on her since my teenage years. I finally married a woman with similar eyes and attitude that she affirms here. God Bless Her Always! I still miss you!

  • @winterrosepetals1 im gonna have to agree here, im 17, but i would have loved to have lived back then, all the dancing and outdits, it sounds amazing :)

  • Love this Version RIP Dusty still her songs live on

  • This song will be covered in the 3rd Alvin and The chipmunks sequel.

  • @Phantanos How do you know?

  • @legolas35653 It will be covered in Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked -video game. Along with other clasics!

  • (pssst...that's a dude)

  • ...No one 'manges' talent... false 'talent' perhaps but not true talent.... never happen.... at least in the music business

  • I only wanna be with you - Volbeat .... that copy is very good!

  • Wheres Dusty? Let's cut another record!!~~~

  • genders aside, wow could Dusty reach the soul and make it dance. Fabulous range! Thanks for posting - my tired out toes just found another gear :)

    Nick in London

  • does anyone remember the name of Dustys lifetime partner,I know she was a tv producer?

  • @Desiree50able You're thinking of Vicki WIckham, but they really were just friends. Wickham has no problem with talking about her own sexuality or with dishing the dirt about Dusty's personal life, yet she says they were never involved that way, and Dusty's relationships with women are fairly well-documented.

Wickham also co-wrote the lyrics to "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me."

  • @BlackMonk66 Thank you for the info.Peace,Desiree

  • @Desiree50able You're welcome. Glad I could help.

  • @Desiree50able IT WAS VICKY WICKHAM ALSO DUSTYS MANAGER

You have been my good fairy mother! You always have stayed with me! Your melodies resound in my heart wherever I go. My twenty years have been magic with your music... I hope my twenty one will be magic too!!! Because you are inmortal!!!

    Thank you!!!!

  • DUSTY ONE OF THE BEST EVER R.I.P. GEATOR/JERRY BLAVATT GREAT DJ NO MOBSTER

  • l've just realized why these oldies (especially Dusty Springfield's hits) are my real favorites - they don't remind me of any particular time of my life (neither the good nor the bad times). I wasn't born until years later. Most of the time the context of music overpowers its content.

  • Perfect. Not a note out of place.

  • lu lu doris day around at the same time

  • Well I wasnt alive a this time but this reminds me of Ally McBeal

  • i remember the days when this was a nz tv 2 add i was like... 3 xD but i still remember it gives me a happy feeling

  • Hermoso tema, mejor interpretación. Gracias Dusty Springfield

    desde Lima - Perú

  • ...Thank You for such an excellent post.... Love with a beat will never go 'out of style'...-:)

  • @time2act1001 Gracias por la respuesta, concariño. abrazos. chau.

  • Dusty Springfield is awesome.

  • I have a love hate relationship with this song. I love Dusty and this beautiful song but I hate the fact I think of "The Crying Game" when I hear this

  • She was so beautiful and full of life. I'm glad she left us her songs.

  • 4 people are tone deaf.

  • 18 years old, and I realize this is the best music ever created..I wish I was born 50 years ago...

  • My dad loved dusty :) and now i do... where was she from btw? if anyone can tell me.

  • ....OH gosh! when women were women and men were men. ..Problems, sure. Those could have been worked out over time... but NNNOOOO Gloria Steinem and Betty Friedan pushed the issue to the point that children don't even know who their parents are until they are around 5yrs.... and their 'childhood' is shot... Damn it.

  • I always thought the version from that boy band was the original, the only one I knew of till today anyways. Dusty Springfield just made a new fan today in 2011.

  • @OzmanX1 Better late than never, OzmanX1. Unfortunately, Dusty is no longer with us, but her music lives on.

  • @catman916

    Fag.

    That is all.

  • @OzmanX1 LOL.@BoyBand....Bay City Rollers...LOL

  • @OzmanX1 -The Boy-Band you're refering to was the Bay City Rollers. I like Dusty's original version MUCH better!!! :-)

  • There are many imitators; some good; but this is DUSTY'S song!!! Thanks for the momories, Dusty!!

  • Bay City Rollers. (:

  • why are people saying stuff like Dusty's version,, this in not her VERSION,, this is the original,, everyone else who did it had a VERSION,,

  • @squirrel300zx

If she wrote it I would agree, but she was just a voice singing someone else's composition, it's merely her version. She may have been first, but only in a line of many.

  • @feckingtediousgoogl the first to sing it is the original, that was the point I am trying to show, hell, no one writes songs for themselves anymore, it's not uncommon for someone to hire a writer, I have no ability to create a song but if someone hands me the music I can play it on the guitar or piano, I'm not arguing your point at all, my thoughts are simple, the first person to sing it did the original song, all others do their VERSION of the song.

  • There was no one else like Dusty! This is the first of her many fantastic solo hits, and still one of the greatest. Beautiful memory of an amazing woman with an incomparable voice. Thanks so much for posting!

  • One of the most charming and most covered pop songs in Rock n Rock history.

  • This is a classic that comes with many excellent memories of a better time.... where has time gone?

  • thumbs up if your listening to this in 2011 :)

  • Love and miss you Dusty! Hope you are in that big concert out in the Universe with all the best musicians that ever were.

  • Ah Dusty... I still love you and your music....yours faithfully after 47 years.

To all those that might see this who are young and can appreciate this brilliant artist and the music.. I salute you. Youtube keeps alive much of the best of our artists and music of all generations. I was a full blown teen in the 60's..... they were hard and scary times especially in the USA , cold war, multiple assassinations of good men and the mess of Vietnam. But the music....Fantastic and unique.

  • Both Dustys and Volbeats are AWSOME! :D

  • respect to dusty !!!!!!!!!

  • this song still sounds great

  • this must be the first song i ever fell in love with

  • .... The best Cha Cha dance tune ever performed Thanks Dusty and Mr. Poster. .-:)

  • .... The best Cha Cha dance tune ever performed Thanks Ddusty and Mr. Poster. .-:)

  • Still, just fantastic!

  • Why did I have to be orn in 1997? I would have loved to have grown up with music like this

  • @SuperHarrypottergeek same here! i thought i was the only one that age who still listened to real music! oh how i'd love to live in the 60's

  • i love this lADY SHES A LEGEND people think im crazy cause im only 26 lol

  • poor dusty. was so sad when she died

  • the reason people cover Dustys songs is cos she is the benchmark, that said they aint even close in my opinion..

  • si no supiste amar ahora te puedes marchar

  • I agree, I ove the old music, and agree 100% @catman916

  • WOW I'm in love again. This takes me back to 1964 BBC Picks of the Pops. see and listen to my tube sound

See MrJaika Picks of the Pops 1964. Greetings from Holland

  • My idol <3

  • The best white female pop(soul) singer ever. Annie Lennox nor anyone else comes remotely close.

  • @hugosalarm this is an absolute....unequivably accurate......

  • @jekiwe Love how it feels when there's AGREEMENT in the air. Sorry I neglected to mention the great Martha Davis, who, in my opinion is the SECOND best white female pop/soul singer ever and whose voice possesses some of the same qualities that Dusty's does. I know that you'll understand when I say that I can't put those qualities into words. Have a great summer,(or winter, depending on your location, hemispherically.)

  • @hugosalarm YES!

  • prefer the hootie and the blowfish version

  • Reading the comments i checked out the Volbeats version. A couple different videos in case the first one was just dull and lifeless sounding by comparison. The second was too. I'd prefer the Bay City Rollers version to the Volbeats but Dusty's is best.

  • simple, yet powerful :)

  • classic songs never dies....only the interpretation of present and past artists gives it life....

  • My kids cut their teeth on this music.....my daughter surprised all of her friends in college by knowing all the words to the oldies...this is beautiful!!

  • Thanks, Samantha Fox& Pet Shop Boys for bringing me to Dusty Springfield!

  • I never knew she did this song. I remember the Bay City Rollers covered this one in the 70s but had no idea Dusty Springfield did it before.

  • Love this song! It is a special song for me because a friend I was very close to gave it to me before he passed away many years ago. Thank you for posting!

  • i love this song. and she looks like a Hon from baltimore.
