  • So cute but perhaps you need to upgrade his dog food. I think she has iron deficiency anemia. I found this on the Internet:

Pica is defined as an appetite for substances not fit for food, such as clay or paper products. Pagophagia is specifically pica for ice, and studies show this to be a specific indicator for iron deficiency anemia. The latter study studied 55 patients with iron-deficiency anemia. Thirty two (58%) had pica, and in 28 (88%) it manifested as pagophagia.

  • @sphatfield so a dog likes ice dnt think u need to get that checked out my cat likes marmite, grapes and mushrooms

  • @KFCBeans also bet he just likes it to cool down

  • @sphatfield Internet vet alert.

Correlation is not causation. My dog loves ice simply because we taught her to enjoy it as a treat. She's recently gotten many tests (due to a hernia - they did bloodwork and whatnot before finding out exactly what it was) and came through perfectly healthy (save for the hernia, of course - which was fixed with surgery).
